COME ON UNLOCK FAASSTEER
I really wish I had enough money to buy this. An absolute must for strategy fans, it completely ruled my childhood. Oh well, wait for the sale I must.

You are a time lord, just go 1 hour later in your Tardis damnit!
Some of the custom maps that were multiplayer RPG's were sooooooo awesome, so much nostalgia. There was one, I can't remember the name but it had Nidhogg in it I think, and you leveled up your own character throughout the map and bought upgrades and items and shit and you eventually had to fight and kill the other players. Was such an in depth and awesome map!
And it is out, get playing!

the fuck steam
Might as well put up the steam group I made ages ago that no one ever used.
Now that it uses steam organizing games is a lot simpler so hopefully we'll see more activity this time around.
It's out! Wish I pre-loaded it when I had the chance

It's not a whole lot over 2GB, so it won't take as long as other games.
Welp, I'm in the third campaign mission and villagers can't get resources. It's like they siphon gold and wood and food from the sources but they won't carry them to anything and I'm stuck with resources that won't go up
Game breaking bug if I ever saw one
pirate krakens aren't attacking my docks fuck yeah

Its happened to me on Chapter 5.
I played a 1v1 random map against bots set to Normal difficulty.
Vinlandsaga is such a fun map.
Getting this soon, awesome.
Friend of mine works at microsoft, and she is on the development team.
All she does is manage the steam forums, but its kind of cool.
How is it? Any huge problems or does it play just like the old AoM?

Plays just like the old AoM. I expected issues in multiplayer but I just got out of a 1v1 on Mediterranean with my best friend and it ran flawlessly.
The shadows, day/night cycle, and water + reflections all look great, but I noticed that fish and sharks beneath the water look like they have a pixelated filter over them.
Other than that, it's a worthy revival of AoM. Plus the future is bright what with the Workshop.
Now all Steam needs to add is Rise of Nations and then my childhood is once again complete.
spent the day playing scenarios with nottud and yeebagoon, was fun
So is the launch better than AoE's was?
I have it preloaded but can't play till later, and I recall AoE having some big launch problems.

The multiplayer is actually playable, so I'd say yes.
I played a 4 player game with some friends of mine and it had no issues.
and achievements work, unlike in aoe 2's launch where youd randomly get them 10 games after you actually achieved the goal
I need to play AoE more, but I always loved AoM more. At least when I was a child...AoM appealed to me way more and was cool as shit. I actually knew about mythology and was highly interested in it for a kid in elementary school. AoM actually taught me some things I never heard of, which is pretty damn cool. I remember a teacher asked some really hard question related to the Greeks, and I knew the answer before we ever went over the material. She asked me how and I just said "a videogame I played". Of course she assumed I was joking, as there is no way videogames can teach.
I still have my disc and the little tiny box it came in, was actually about to install and then the next day AoM HD was announced. Can't wait for the nostalgia.
Woah it's been a while since I last played, I'm getting my ass handed to me over and over again when playing online :v:
To be fair last time I played this was when I was 7, and I mostly messed around with cheats.
How in the hell? I didn't even see them go up but they're sure as hell stuck and don't wanna move.

This has more bugs the original game. I cant join a god damn custom match and I'm forced to play 1v1 ranked with people with 1800+ elo because it decides to match me with some of the best fucking players Ive ever seen in my life. At the end of the game they are calling me shit and I'm wondering why I bought this for 30 dollars when It's worse than the original.

Best course of action- wait for devs to convert everything to 3ds and tga, as opposed to the current brg and ddt files that make my life miserable. They've already delivered a stop-gap command line tool for converting ddt to tga and back but have said they want to put out a script that will convert all the files to a better format.
The game just deleted all my campaign progress :suicide:
It's actually sickening how high they've set the price. It's extortionate. Instead of punishing old fans and making them dish out money you know they will, for a game they love, set a more realistic price. Open it up to new players, so that they can realise what a great game it is.
Is it just me who thinks this? I truly don't believe the remake deserves such a hiked up price at all. Just a cash grab, imo. One that manipulates fans into paying money they wouldn't otherwise pay.

I also think that the quality of it is fairly subpar to be honest. The game feels much clunkier than the original, and I've had quite a few crashes. It also runs much worse than expected. Sure my machine isn't the fanciest, but a 650m and quad core at 2.4 GHz (betting this is only single threaded though) should be able to run it decently well, yet it just feels off.
Don't get me wrong, I like it, but I don't think it was exactly worth what I paid - I'm happy that I bought it because I've lost my disks to the original, but for a game designed to be a near carbon copy just with updated graphics, they've sure half arsed it. Not to mention that the options setting for your default setting for units (aggressive/defensive/stand ground) doesn't apply to every unit - Atlantean hero upgrade and units granted on gamestart / tech up will be set to aggressive no matter what and you manually need to change it again.
If they'd gone to the effort of at least adding some more maps or something, I'd feel a bit happier, and they really should have updated the AI a fair bit too, the pathfinding isn't terrible, but it really could be improved. Oh, and the computer sometimes doing redundant things like two markets next to each other. Only played for 3 hours or so, but I've seen that kind of thing going on a bit.
