oh god who thought making a demolition map where it takes 30 minutes to walk to the other base was a good idea
I like the beta screenshots(on steam) more

Also, I hate how you can't sprint or use weapons when you have the briefcase.
And how the rocket launcher is actually the main weapon on Commando.
That's dumb.
For me this game has one problem and one problem only. Rocket launchers are way to accurate, since when was a fucking rocket more accurate then a sniper rifle.

A few friends got together and we all did this on a public server:

We got the whole island to fall in the end, but I didn't get a screen because some twat killed me and I respawned at the very last second. :(
So now that this is being worked on, is it worth the buy?
So now that this is being worked on, is it worth the buy?
Yeah, it's not terrible. If they added some more open maps, and lengthened server times just a bit more it wouldn't be much worse then .75
I like playing as Blue on Arctic Base and digging trenches all over the spawn. Feels good when the rest of my team is getting shot to pieces and the Green rocketeers are too busy to look down.
So I just bought it to try it out, and there aren't any Australian servers. Fuck.
Well, I've tried it out with a ping of 200+ and it seems pretty fun, even if zero progress was being made on the map I was on. I just hope there'll be some Australian servers soon.
Isn't there a specific tab on the server screen with Australian servers?
Isn't there a specific tab on the server screen with Australian servers?
At the time that I had made that post, they had made Australian servers, but they didn't actually show up for several days. They're here now, and although there's only ten at best, it's pretty good.
has an official date been set for the mac release of 1.0?
It looks like a fun game but sadly I have an ATI graphics card and it looks like they are not supporting it as I am getting the infamous Blue (or Green depending on which team you join) screen of death. Hopefully they will address this issue but I wouldn't hold my breath. Have fun digging and shooting without me lads.

Which card you got? I'm running it fine with 6870 and used to run it fine with 4670.. No problems whatsoever
fake edit: oh right shit you're talking about the Steam game instead of it's superior predecessor.

ATI Radeon HD 3200, newest driver.

Actual Australian servers or just Easy Coast of America Australian servers?
Actual Australian servers or just Easy Coast of America Australian servers?
Actual Australian servers, since I can get a ping of less than a hundred with not particularly great internet from Adelaide.
I enjoy placing my team's colored blocks inside our sniper nests.
Awesome distraction.

Da, this shall be good.

not necessarily
Those game files have been in the game long before 1.0's actual release. They were in there back when we tested the OpenGL client (when it was still good).
So ive heard the game was crap but its going better, and its 8$, shall i spend it on that game or on fuel?
not necessarily
Why didn't they keep that instead of making dumb classes, goddamnit.

Well, it's fun, but don't expect the good old Ace of Spades.
Anyone else tried in Lunar base to get on top on the satellite? Pretty useful place if your doing zombie mode, but to get there you'll need rocketeer and some blocks. Sorry if this is late.
is ye olde voxel ace of spades still running?
So I just got a copy of this on Steam (thanks to my little brother). I had never checked this thread before, but now that I have, I have to wonder why everyone hates the rocketeer? They were never that much of a problem for me. I also didn't like playing the class that much. I felt like they went down as easy as any other class.
So what's your main issue with the class?
I'm lovin' the new Ace of Spades.
It's fast, fluid and fun.
The thing is, Ace of Spades wasn't meant to be fast.
The thing is, Ace of Spades wasn't meant to be fast.
The thing is, this isn't Ace of Spades. This is a game using the same name, and while it might be an insult to the original, you might as well just give it a different name.
Don't consider it Ace of Spades, and you'll have a fun time with it.
Not gonna buy Steam-version. Gonna play the old one, because it is much more fun that new AoS looks like. The new one looks like shit, for me.
Jetpack is shit. No more ol' good "Let's craft some shit under this bridge to get inside their base and kill everyone, meanwhile being stealthy!" and "COVER ME, I AM BUILDING A BRIDGE!".
:(

The concept of the jetpack in general just wrecks everything. Building defenses isn't worthwhile anymore, since they will be scaled easily by the rocketeer
Building in general just seems like a gimmick now, it doesn't even need to be used in the game.
THE NEXT CONTENT UPDATE
It’s not long until you will be greeting the arrival of a brand new content update. This of course is the much awaited World War themed update. Though it’s not going to be a World War Content pack...Surprise! But wait, don’t panic, we've decided to evolve the idea of a World War theme pack into a full blown Classic Mode. We have done this because after receiving an overwhelming amount of specific feedback we decided that the best way to capture the feeling of the classic game is to create a bespoke mode, rather than just adding a themed pack.
WHAT IS CLASSIC MODE?
Classic mode is a standalone mode that will aim to bring a tear of joy to every AoS veteran’s eye, as the charm of the early days of Ace are re-imagined through the modern game. This mode will be built as part of the current game, modelled around the era of v0.1 - v0.4, whilst tweaking it to include the best of the rest.
This mode will not be an exact replica, far from it, but we will get it as close as possible by working closely with the community and reintroducing the most popular elements from previous iterations.
This mode will be very much sculpted over time by the community, and I will be working closely with key members of the community to help develop the mode into a one that feels like the good old days, but better.
This release is setting the foundation for what Classic Mode will become. Rather than release the mode we decide it should be, we’re launching the core framework for a mode that you will help us create. This update is more than the sum of its parts – it’s us asking the passionate, creative Ace community to help build the game they want to play. So, stand to! This is just the beginning...
Join your brothers in arms in the upcoming Classic Mode featuring:
- The Rifle; there are many like it, but this one is yours
- A bespoke mode featuring stripped back game play that is based on the classic version of the game
- A game mode that is styled in the theme of World War I/II throughout
- Maps that are inspired by the World War style, plus a few fan favourites from the classic version of the game
- Slower gameplay in terms of manoeuvrability that will allow player to execute more tactical strategies
- Return of the Deuce, an updated version of the classic single class character
- Simple equipment, no more than any Deuce needs on the battlefield
- Regular updates driven by the community
- Plans to further develop the mode via implementing classic features & introducing new ones that are fitting for Classic
...and much more!
So stay tuned for further updates on this, and further information on what other extras will be included in the next update.

Thought I give an update.
Fantastic.
This coupled with the already-fun fast paced gameplay of the initial retail release in a separate mode is a great dynamic.
