Fantastic. This coupled with the already-fun fast paced gameplay of the initial retail release in a separate mode is a great dynamic.
I feel like they had a terrible release with all the vets constantly giving them flak for alienating the community with their streamlined mechanics, and I imagine they felt pretty terrible. I'm really glad to see them approach the situation with this classic mode thing, they went into some pretty specific detail on how the mechanics in classic would work, and from what I read I can say I'll be satisfied with my copy if they work up to these standards.
Wow, this is actually awesome. I can't wait to see this classic mode. also, anyone else constantly glitch through the world while jetpacking around?

So would you guys say this is worth $10 if I am a huge fan of the original game? I got $10 in my steam wallet and I am not sure if I should spent it now or wait for something else to go on sale
It depends on how much ten dollars is to you. At least for others and myself, ten dollars is lunch money, so getting a game for about the price of a Big Mac meal isn't such a big deal. If you don't work, or don't have some kind of money income, and don't have money saved up, then sure ten dollars will be a steeper cost. Honestly, the game was fun to anyone who had never played the game, worth the money, especially if you factor in free content being added; with classic mode now implemented, there's really no reason not to buy the game if you even have some interest in it. Worth trying, since honestly it doesn't cost very much, and you're bound to have at least a couple of day's worth of fun just trying it out, and even moreso if you want to get into it with friends or a community.
[t]http://i.imgur.com/rubB0.png[/t] I wouldn't have the patience to wait out until the next sale anyways [editline]17th January 2013[/editline] So I just played my first game I played zombie mod and while this is nowhere close to the original AOS, this is fun There were a few survivors camping on a cliff so I did the most logical thing: I dug out the entire cliff And it worked [editline]17th January 2013[/editline] Zombies really need to get their digging nerfed

Ace of Spades is now 50% off on Steam!
Ace of Spades is now 50% off on Steam!
Also patch notes
Somebody please give a quick review of the classic mode before the sale ends .
Oh man there's no shotgun or SMG in classic mode I'm orgasming everywhere.
Sounds promising.
Just wanted to say how much fun classic mode is. Any old AoS player will love it. Even has the old guitar strum!
This is great. Honestly!
Oh my god, Classic Mode is literally the best thing ever
Man I can't play until tomorrow this is balls :(
So, now the game is a must-buy? Classic mode is back + you get all these cool-but-not-like-original-AoS things?
Classic mode owns. I thought about it and this would be a really cool game for comp play oh wait no hosting servers hahaha
New weapons, maps and most importantly, classic mode for free. Jagex is horrible at designing, but when it comes to AoS, they aren't greedy cunts. Money well spent
I built a really good forward fort that was actually useful. I got about 80 kills from it, only leaving to die/get ammo. It was glorious Then some loser teammate dig under it and collapsed it, called me a "builder faggot" sigh STILL AWESOME
Got this game just for the classic mode. Man it's fun as hell.
Got this game just for the classic mode. Man it's fun as hell.
Man you learn quickly, you had first place on that scoreboard for a while. Did watch you turn to liquid blood a few times. :v:
Man you learn quickly, you had first place on that scoreboard for a while. Did watch you turn to liquid blood a few times. :v:
It all seems to be about dem tunnels
I say we start some sort of group or something, no idea. I imagine team play in classic mode would be devastating to all enemies
Here's a good video showing some of the features on one of the new maps. The gameplay he shows isn't that exciting because it's a low pop server though.
Classic mode is definitely better then what they had put out originally, but the building is a little weird.
Classic mode is definitely better then what they had put out originally, but the building is a little weird.
You have to get used to how the block placement works, but I got pretty good at making defense structures quickly. Small bunkers work wonders because they are in your color, so you sort of blend in with them. also, stacking 2x1 towers everywhere can confuse the enemy and make it harder to spot you
Pre-fab bunkers and towers are officially the shit. Glad I got this, this is what I expected when I had heard that a large company had taken over. The new gamemode is actually decent too, though the lack of recognizable weapons will probably keep me in WWI mode for now.
The normal modes are fun, but the Classic mode really makes you focus on combat strategy, down to its simplest form. If you're any food at FPS games you will absolutely shit all over everyone in classic mode.
The new update is fantastic The classic mode is a blast and the arcade classes are now somewhat balanced out (For example rocketeer can either have a glidepack or jumppack)
