For the love of god, Jagex. Bring back player hosted servers!
Way to many fucktards on this game which need to be banned for griefing.

Too easy, the players in this have horrible aim.
I find it hilarious in Build and Shoot to be able to feel like a war hero or something by being so much more skilled then the usual players on free games.
With ability to twich a headshot from a mid-range distance from painstaking years of learning by getting your ass handed to you 20 to 1 by your skilled friends in Quake and CS.
I'm not really sure why anyone would say Classic mode is a plus for this game. It's like, literally the same thing as the original Ace of Spades except worse because you wait longer to enter a game.
The game is a failure, which is why it sold horribly. It would have sold even less (hard to imagine) if they weren't smart enough to copy and paste Classic mode.
They didn't, they left out custom maps and shit weapons.
Which is one of the best things they could have done. All we need now is
1. Fog
2. A hilly map like the old generated ones. Preferably not symmetric.
Yeah, they left out custom maps, which was retarded and will kill this game in the long run. The shotgun and the SMG weren't there initially which is why I said the original Ace of Spades and not pre-Jagex Ace of Spades.
I actually disliked custom maps in the original AoS, IMO the original random hilly map was the best, I totally hope they add it again in the jagex game, along with some other features, and it'd be perfect.
Custom maps are what killed AoS for many people, not just me (as I initially thought).
They removed the building aspect and differences between blue and green.
you realize that without custom maps everyone is going to get tired of playing the same maps over and over again thus they leave and the playerbase is dead
custom maps were not what killed AoS; there were plenty of vanilla servers, even before they added the unnecessary weapons
The new Ace of Spades has oodles more content than the original, get off the nostalgia wagon. The game looks better too, and honestly, it's not so different than the original. It's not like the new AoS took away everything that made the old game good. The new version sold a hell of a lot better than I expected, and the original didn't even have a large playerbase to begin with. Old AoS was as underground and small playerbase as you can get with an online game. The new version has much more content and many more players, even if there is an influx of idiots. New maps, new weapons, (albeit a little unbalanced) new gamemode types including classic which is literally a carbon copy of the original. (which fans were begging for anyway)
The only thing the game needs to ensure that it lasts longer:
1. Dedicated servers: This is an obvious addition that's pretty much essential. Without it, people can't find friends again, or play with people similar to them. It allows more control, admin work which will stop griefers, and personal goals to look for. It would really help the playerbase and alleviate the cost of hosting servers on Jagex' part.
2. Mod and mapping support/tools with workshop integration: Vital. We need the ability to make our own maps and guns and gamemodes and so on. The game has a ton of potential, even if it starts off as simple reskins or unbalanced guns based off real life, at least it'll be more content to play with. AoS is simple and bare-bones, and some modding would give it a nice surge of stuff.
3. Vote-kick or anti-grief
[del]4. Voice Chat[/del] never noticed
Both 3 and 4 could be fixed by adding in 1 and 2, so there's really not that big a deal. It's a good game, it just gets boring fast, because, let's face it, it's a shooter, and shooters get boring fast without any sort of dedicated server with friends, or metagame rewards or mods.

I hope you are talking about classic mode, I can honestly say the initial release was absolute shit.
Classic mode isn't bad, they have the original forum admins working with the dev team and guiding them in the right direction, Classic Mode is supposed to get Click+Drag building and color selector back in the coming updates.
Before Jagex took it down Voxlap was averaging 2000+ players a day, Jagex version hasn't broken 2000 since January 27th. Now that the initial excitement wore off, the game is dying.
They've got some weird gang wars DLC planned for thursday, but it's payed so I don't think they will do well on it. Only hope is that they learn whats wrong with Classic and fix it, then give us third party servers.
FYI, this is the player count, Voxlap is actually catching up with 1.0 in terms of player count http://aoswiki.rakiru.com/webpages/playercount.html#all

Hold B?
I'm not happy that they're splitting the community with the paid dlc maps and gamemodes.
And especially because those 2 gamemodes seem the most fun besides Classic.
At Least we're still getting free stuff
I have trouble enough finding a game with a decent connection. If I buy this dlc, there will be no way in hell I'll ever find a decent (populated) server.
Well, it's been a few months... Let's review.
-First DLC released, some weird prohibition cops vs robbers thing. It cost $5, was played for only a week before the 30 people who bought it gave up.
-Jagex added a "Classic" map which was not randomly generated and looks nothing like the original

sure looks like
-"New Content Update" after a month of nothing from jagex, breaks most of the regular game even more (if it was even possible)
-Jagex's main Ace of Spades community managers, Sally and Sniped are moved to other projects
-Credits are added to the game, in which they defame Ben Aksoy, the original developer, accuse of him of stealing, and refuse to acknowledge his contribution
how mature
On the bright side however...
-Voxlap continues to match Jagex's playercount (viewable here: http://aoswiki.rakiru.com/webpages/playercount.html#10080)
-Someone has managed to modify the game last voxlap release to allow 64 players. This has yet to been put to the full test but the servers are playable if you download the mod at http://buildandshoot.com/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=3445
Such a shame, the game had amazing potential.
Have they brought back the fucking server browser yet? It automatically assigns me to 300+ ping servers because everyone lives in America, apparently!
Hey, looks like this hasn't been mentioned on Facepunch yet.
The voxlap game is continuing development through an open source clone, and it's got sleek GL graphics too: https://sites.google.com/a/yvt.jp/openspades/
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yNBM8-NIx7U
I've played a lot of it in the last week or so, and I really like what they've done with it. Some features are missing (bullet tracers on the map), but it's not too bad and they've added many useful things to the client. They're still locked into 0.75/0.76 compatibility, and I preferred the game before SMG's and custom maps, but this shows a lot of potential. I hope the developers have a strong direction that can return the game back to its WW1 roots.
