So I played this game the day it started, then I kind of forgot about it due to the fact that when it first came out, it was meh. I played last night and it blew my god damn mind.
Well, there goes team-digging. I would usually dig underground with another person or two back then. It felt a bit more rewarding knowing how much work we/I did with or without help to get to the enemy lines.
I really hope they make a vanilla mode otherwise they can shove it up their arse while I go play the original.
Well that class is a big fat failure in my book. Completely unbalances everything and gives people something to grief with. I love the TF2 knockoff music they use too.
Why would a miner's helmet protect him from headshots, but a soldier's one wouldn't. Makes zero sense.
Wow there is literally no reason not to play the miner unless they give another class some instant kill auto-aim weapon.
Erk, I thought the minigun's were bad and I didn't even see the drill gun or how many weapons this sucker can hold. Is it possible that this game could actually be so bad it's good - as in I watch b-movies and sometimes it's bad enough that I enjoy it?
I decide to play on the server meppers made.
It was empty so I built defenses that where meant to spell my name.
So, I downloaded .75, and excuse me for the beginner question, but how do I join the server? Clicking on the server application lets me create my own, but that's obviously not what I want.
Rest in Peace, Ace of Spades. We hardly knew ye.
I honestly don't see this making much success in its new form.
Classes? Seriously? Did Jagex even play the original game?
I can see them making it a cross between TF2 and Minecraft. With a scout class, heavy class, and so on.

They did play AoS, but too late. It was already shit when they picked it up, and they polished it a little. But in the end, a polished turd is still a turd.
It's like they know nothing about balance and design
I actually played this game for a few hours a night with my friend while we had no other games to play, and it was really fun.
New version looks weird, though. What is this TF2 shit?
I drew a comic.

Regular "Ace Of Spades" from the Steam CDR.
(interestingly has thirdpartycdkey set to 1.)

"Ace Of Spades Preview" from the Steam CDR.
"Prototype" as they call it goes down tomorrow.
I'll probably update the OP when the game comes out. Most of the people who stuck with the game up to this point have moved to another website that will still host the older versions.

Wow, I couldn't think of a worse looking zombie model even if I tried
[editline]3rd December 2012[/editline]
HOW CAN YOU FUCK UP SO BADLY?
Aha, oh my god, it is literally a few rectangles with the worst modeled zombie face known to man.
Are there servers that run the vanilla mode without these retarded hurrrmodern smg and shotgun?
I miss my manly WW1
[editline]3rd December 2012[/editline]
And randomly generated maps with the possibility to dig
Honestly the thing that ruined ace of spades for me was the custom maps. The shotgun was OP when it came out but that was fixed, and the smg is easy to fight against. But the god damn custom maps where the dirt is right down to water layer and buildings everywhere. New gamemodes are alright, with the exception of build a tower to reach a giant ass platform in the sky to get the flag.
Some people may not be confused by my claim that autoclimb was a bad idea... But on a second thought, I doubt such people exist so:
You had to spam spacebar to climb up blocky hills like in Minecraft, but unlike Minecraft, it actually made sense in this game, being an action war game. You had to be able to climb fast not because hills were boring, but to get height advantage and some possible cover from snipers. Smart climbers would choose to climb up less steep hills, to avoid "pointless jumps" and to not lose momentum - so if you could eventually get better at it as you played the game more, which is an important game mechanic. It also made sense that climbing up hills would be tiring and put you at a disadvantage, since it slowed you down and made you an easy target. But once you're on a plateau, you can't be sniped from anywhere, a risk/reward mechanic, while risk/reward is one of the core basics of game design - and it worked wonderfully, because not only it was risky to do, but also annoying, but the reward was worth it. That's what people like, and yet they never realize. Like Notch once said, people don't always know what they want in their games, it's all up to the developer.
Then they broke it to shreds with autoclimb, you could just climb up hills like a caterpillar and not worry about anything, no spacebar, no wasted jumps, no slowdown - win/win scenario, and as Call of Duty teaches us, win/win games are bland as fuck.

Oh wow, they turned comment approval on for this one
[editline]5th December 2012[/editline]
And the last one now too
Wow so much for this gem.
I don't understand all the hate. It looks fun.

It looks fun, but it doesn't look like Ace of Spades.

This might be promising.
