fucking jagex
fucking jagex
From those who brought you Runescape: Ace of Spades.....
Any word on the original developer? He used to be pretty active with it.
If I remember correctly he sold the game off to jagex and has nothing to do with it anymore. But honestly this new game seems to be Ace of Spades in name only. Seems a lot more like tf2 with destructible environments and blocks than the slow-paced WW1 fps with building that I used to play.
The only part I like about this version is how it's not foggy and dull looking.
Game is meh at best. It runs terribly on my computer, which runs TF2 just fine... However GREAT SUCCESS

umm sorry ww1 limiting genre u cant even jetpak xD but here lok we made dis game is good even drill luncher xDDDD

if facepunch related, it's because the recommended is .75 played this for a bit, really fun! we should get a group going for a .75 match or something
I don't get why it's recommended though. Isn't .76 the same thing but with bug fixes?
Well, the new old Ace of Spades was already shit, but this is just... Shit ^10 Now I feel safe to declare that the whole "story" of Ace of Spades was a chain of tragic mistakes, sealed by a giant fuckup. The sad thing is, the original game was actually pretty damn good. No, it was awesome, it was epic, one of the best games I've ever played. I don't blame Jagex, I blame Ben. He's made so many bad decisions, not only by selling the concept.

Could you elaborate on other "bad" decisions the creator made?
Actually it was smart of Ben to make some money off it. Ace of Spades was a good game but it wasn't really making any decent progress, he wouldn't have been able to make the amount of money Jagex offered him for the rights to the game. Still, Jagex completely ruined the point of this game. It's laughable how slow it runs for people even with decent machines. It doesn't even start up for some people.
It's Jagex's fault for making it shit, its the creators fault for selling it to a shitty company. Could you elaborate on other "bad" decisions the creator made?
Custom maps was probably the worst one. Shotgun and SMG brought nothing but arguments about class balance. Then I'm not fond of many smaller ones, like autoclimb, no crouchjumps, custom rifle sights, melee merge, no deuces...
Am I the only one who thinks it's alright? Yeah, sure, it's a completely bastardized version of the original, but imo it's kinda fun.
Just pressure Jagex into releasing a classic mode with only bolt-action rifles and shovels. Or a modder could do it unofficially.
Am I the only one who thinks it's alright? Yeah, sure, it's a completely bastardized version of the original, but imo it's kinda fun.
This "kinda fun" doesn't even begin to compare to the original. Sure, it may be "kinda fun" but it is not a "solid game"
Am I the only one who thinks it's alright? Yeah, sure, it's a completely bastardized version of the original, but imo it's kinda fun.
I've actually had a lot of fun with this game, almost as much as the original AoS. It's understandable why people feel let down by Jagex, because they're right, this is almost nothing like the original. However, it's still an enjoyable game to me, even though a lot has been changed. The constant action and variety in classes can make for some fun times. Because of this, I think this game would have had a much better reception if it didn't have the Ace of Spades name on it, and tried to be its own game. Obviously this isn't the same game as the original, so chances are you won't like it if you want WW1/WW2 styled gameplay, but if you're looking for a fast paced shooter for a cheap price, consider trying it out. Sorry if I'm just repeating things that have already been said, I just think this game deserves a tiny bit of praise.
This looks absolutely awful. I loved the original, played it every now and then, but what the hell have they done? This is NOT how you please fans, jagex. edit You can still play it if you go here http://www.ace-spades.com/play/ Joined a game just now, still populated.
That link doesn't work.
It does for me, it brings me to a cloudflare backup, where the page is still live.
A lot of the servers on there are dead, or filled with Spanish speaking retards that shout puta madre after every death.
I want the old AoS :'(

I honestly don't understand why people refuse to use 0.76, it comes with a server browser too.
There aren't many servers hosting it, so people are afraid to make the jump. I assume if Build and Shoot updates it will force everyone to move on Also, Op Updated

Right, I'm going to be honest and do a re-review of this game; Yesterday I would of easily given this game a 1/10 - I was infuriated by what Jagex had done! The whole class with 'loadout' system made my stomach turn and my nipples ache, the maps where far to extravagant for me and the each and every game was an utter jitter filled lag-fest. However after playing today I would give the game an easy 5/10 (Still nothing to AoS original which would of easily been a 8 or 9 out of 10). Firstly the class system is where this game loses most of its points, the best thing about AoS original was the fact that the game was balanced and simple - There where no perks or any of this nonsense, just a standard soldier with different guns, but in the Jagex-fucked new AoS you pick your class, and each of them HAD to be unique and then you pick your guns and structures - Jagex broke the perfect balance, and rather than adding more guns and keeping the default soldier with out all these nonsensical perks they had to be unique and different in a desperate attempt to add depth and new content. I wouldn't mind so much if they had made a system where you unlock stuff and still kept a default soldier, but as I will explain later the jetpack class is the biggest motherfucker in this game. The second place the game loses major points would have to be with the lag - Their system of dealing with lag is next to none; with all the new purchasable FPS games coming out (Such as COD and Halo) they have some system to deal with lagging; for example in Call of Duty, they make it so that the client deals with the lag, but in the new AoS the players jitter when either you or they are lagging? The original AoS never did this? Maybe they didn't add anything to make the game low-latency or to counter the jitter, but for a game made by big developers this is a fatal flaw. The last place is the general game balance; firstly there seems to be only a set number of maps, meaning either Jagex will add some more later, there will be DLC or they will add a more user friendly modding tool then the original AoS. The maps seem to be so intricate that there are very rarely true gun fights - The jetpack class (Which seems to be the best for running around and killing) can get anywhere in a map with in 20 seconds, however the other classes such as the miner, recon and comando have to walk, jump and climb to get anywhere; this gives the jetpack class a HUGE advantage in gamemodes like domination, demolition and multihill. To add to that, due to latency the sniper can be a joke, as you run around the corner out of the line of the sniper you instantly die; the comando's rocket launcher seems next to useless and the minigun holds only 50 bullets.
can someone test and see if you can connect to my .54 server? you can download .54 here -link removed-
Tells me the server is full/misconfigured.
Damnit, I think the server isn't .54 Well fuck everything
What they need to do is completely remove the rocketeer, and give the miner the turret and the SMG. rocketeer is everything thats wrong with the game IMHO
Remove classes. Remove the miner gear. Possibly make unlockable weapons, but I don't particularly like this idea. I hate when developers take over a game and not even consider the original community for feedback. Don't you think the people that have been playing the game for years before you came would know what would work best?
I'm fully convinced they didn't beta test the game at all, I crash 75% of the time I join a game, the balance is shit, etc.
