i went back to buildandshoot.com and played the older 0.75 version. it is exponentially better than this one. you actually dig through hills to sneak underneath them, or purposely cut the bottom of towers / buildings so they collapse and people fall to their death, or build your own little hut to protect yourself. in the new one it's just random pre-made maps with jetpacks and miniguns and rocket launchers (wtf) and i see NONE of that going on

Wow thanks Jagex, thanks to you I can finally live out the full WWI experience, and live the rest of my life as a disgruntled veteran who realizes that all the time I put into the game was for nothing and it was all just an effort by faceless corporate machines to make more money.

If it was basically 0.26 but with actual servers and the ability to change sensitivity, I'd actually think about buying it.

From what they've done so far with the game I wouldn't be surprised if this world war 1 content was just "the rocketeer can now use an authentic sounding rifle!" or something.
Here's hoping that their idea of WWI classic mode is nothing but rifles, a spade, and blocks with a large open map.

I hope they add some of the stuff the old dev wanted to put in originally like Mortars and a heavy machine gun (well balanced of course), since the community pretty much unanimously agreed those would be cool.
So me and my friend bought this last night. Almost every server had connection issues (with others complaining of lag) and every time a server went over ~6 players it would sink in to rubberbanding

Yeah, the server isn't up right now. It will probably come online within the next 6-7 hours. From hwat I have seen the host usually runs it from 3-4 EST late into the night.

Put it this way, if you can't run the game then you're fucked. Even if you have decent specs, some people can't even start the game up and Jagex wont do anything about it.

And they fail to deliver on the new maps and most of the stuff promised in the update. Game doesn't run as bad but it's still not great.

Ignoring the old version of the game, how is this one? Is it fun? Dont even try to compare it to the old one, how is this one as a game on its own. Think of it as it's own game

They're supposed to be releasing a World War update in January which will hopefully bring the game closer to it's roots in the form of an alternate game mode, but even as the game stands right now it's a lot of fun from what i've played so far.

After doing more reading through this thread, I've decided against it. Mainly because it sounds like the requirements are oddly high.
My poor laptop heats up pretty bad when I play TF2, so I'm sure this game would roast it

I played it now and I agree.
It's really fun, although the game would be much more fun without the dumb classes and ridiculous weapons.
So I just bought it to try it out, and there aren't any Australian servers. Fuck.
Well, I've tried it out with a ping of 200+ and it seems pretty fun, even if zero progress was being made on the map I was on. I just hope there'll be some Australian servers soon.
