Yes, because Angry Birds is totally equivalent to Super Meat Boy.
yeah? they're both pretty fun games
Wonder if they will use another name...
Wonder if they will use another name...
Going by the recent trends, have a reboot and call it "Source", or make it cool and sequely with "S2urce".

1998- gold source 2004- source 201?- urce
1998- gold source 2004- source 201?- urce
It was technically called GoldSrc.
Next gen graphics will be so mind-blowing, it'll be called Sourcery.
It definitely should not be called source because they aren't really releasing their source code anymore.
I hoping they'll release to source code for atleast one game using their next-gen engine!
Not gonna happen.
Not gonna happen.
just trying to be optimistic.
Not gonna happen.
Why not?
Why not?
As has been stated before, VALVe has sorta stepped out of the "Modding Scene" and more into the hat and weapon making scene, they've kept all Source devs and modders completely out of the loop on any new updates or bug fixes. Especially since the person who handled much of the SourceSDK stuff was laid off recently.

One consequence of this was being unable to mount Source game content which a lot of mods did and the Swarm engine can't load VPKv2 files. I think Valve have completely stopped caring about mods if they make major changes like that and don't consider the vast number of mods they break. We were also promised Source 2009 some years ago for Mac support. Never happened.
Dropping mod support is bad considering that many of Valve's games are based on former mods. -Dota 2 -CS-series -TF2 and TFC -Day of defeat

at least they're aware of it and have a fix planned so it's better than nothing
They still are licensing their newer engines. See Insurgency.
They still are licensing their newer engines. See Insurgency.
when you license the engine you get access to the latest version at the time AFAIK [editline]18th April 2013[/editline] the difference is that the Source SDK is, well, a public SDK
Valve probably don't see much point in the public Source SDK at the moment, they'd have to do a lot of work to make it competitive again the UDK and Unity. Considering that Source 2 will probably overhaul the tools then it's even less likely that they would do a lot of work on the current SDK.
Man I hope Valve don't completely stop caring about mods. Half Life 1 and 2 mods were like my childhood.
let's hope it's gonna be a decent update :[
My bet is that it will be the mapping tools so Hammer and Model Viewer will half-work again as the "SDK" is their blanket term for the modding tools. I will eat my own metaphorical hat if they change the code at all.
They still are licensing their newer engines. See Insurgency.
Well, as detailed in Robert Briscoe's postmortem on Dear Esther (Link here)
The truth is, Valve just aren’t an licensing company. Their focus is on making games and they even came out and told us this at the start, and as a consequence of this, communication with them was, at times, painfully slow and we had a hard time just convincing them to listen to us at first.
. And so when they got the source code, it was just a less restricting (and much more expensive) Source SDK. As for the Insurgency team, they already had Modding experience in Source.
In case someone is asking for the source of this: http://www.mail-archive.com/hlds@list.valvesoftware.com/msg52022.html
interesting...
man if I hope valve isn't drifting off from modding. I also hope that the sdk for source 2 is a lot more easy to understand then what they have currently. Hammer is fucking unintuitive as shit for beginners.
