man if I hope valve isn't drifting off from modding. I also hope that the sdk for source 2 is a lot more easy to understand then what they have currently. Hammer is fucking unintuitive as shit for beginners.
I have a feeling Valve isnt drifting off from modding, though I know for a fact Source 2's SDK wont be easy to use.
Easier? That depends on what all has been changed.

How do you even know that? There hasn't even been a preview of the engine, and we're unsure that they're even developing it.

The only thing that gets "harder" in new engines, is figuring out what tools / methods they used for making the new content, but I assume Source 2 will include that documentation; and if not the modders will quickly figure it out.
Case in point: the flow maps in portal 2, porting models from Bad Company 2.
I hope they rename it to something else other than Source because everytime I want to google for the sourcecode of something all I get it the steam forums. A good example is Slender source, I was searching if there was a source code released but all I got was the game remade in source.
It also sucks if you're looking for stuff specific to source and find nothing but links to source code to completely unrelated shit.

That's as simple as adding "valve" in the search terms. Conversely, -valve works too.
I know this is late but, looks like we won't be seeing Source 2 this year! =(
I heard from some guy in Germany that some big developers were saying that valve had "something special" to show at this e3 or something. Dunno how reliable it is.
Were talking about making a mod, and he suggested we used source 2...
It looks like every major game company is going off-modding. But in reality, mods CAN bring you more income.
(dayz for example)
I was really expecting it when I heard about the next generation of Havok.
So, What happens if this "New Next Generation Source Engine" "Our Savior and God" Happens to be a Lemon? Or. The current engine with a few minor changes? Because I'm not expecting that much because usually theses things have a huge amount of hype behind them and produce nothing.
The way valve has kinda quieted down, and kept updates to a minimum makes me think that they have something in the works.

Maybe most of their game-dev employees are in crunch time for half life 3.
I talked with my sources within Valve.
Source 2 will have fluid physics.
what

God DAMMIT, I just messed my shorts.

Got any proof besides your post?
His uncle works for Nintendo.

Sounds like something Stiffy would say.

Well, that feature film directed by Shane Acker using SFM (The Deep) has some vertex displacement water surface stuff going on.
I mean that's kinda standard but you know how the world goes gawk-eyed when Source gets a standard modern feature.
Also it looked pretty shitty, but it was early footage.

Isn't most of Valve still working on Dota 2?

Dota 2 and Tf2 is what valve devs are doing all the time.

And breaking old Half-Life games with mac updates and linux/steampipe updates.
It's alot of work to demoralize the Half-Life fanbase, so people will stop asking Gabe about Half-Life 3. :v:
Sorry, it was a joke.

What's hidden behind the door ?
The tf2 movie ?
Roger Lundeen worked on Source 2
But, what if valve will implement it only because of me?

Bigger version of the image. According to the file name its from December 2011, so it sounds pretty much like Source 2 if what we've been thinking about its development is true. I also tried all the Valve related passwords I could think of (MoolyFTW, sandvich, etc.) but nothing got through.
well the image on the monitor certainly isn't from source 2

Yahtzee would be proud, wouldn't he?
I wonder why he chose BF3 for a screenshot
DICE and Valve merging confirmed
