I just hope it's not as bad as hammer...
I'm dead certain we'll be getting a slightly different hammer. Look how much the damn thing changed between HL1 and HL2.
its probably been posted before but i hope source 2 gets its own engine that runs something like euphoria
Gabe said 2 years ago that they've been working on making hammer less painful to use. One would think they've concentrated that focus on making the next Hammer SDK better. The icons kinda show that it's getting a facelift. But it could also be that the new SDK would be exclusive to Valve themselves and indie dev's that license the engine, meanwhile modders will get crappy authoring tools.
authoring* tools. I just imagined a 15 year old kid with a dirty shirt trying to put a stamp of approval on a computer and it's out of ink.
Seems unlikely Valve will release a full-fledged SDK for Source 2.

Maybe HL3 is taking so long because Valve can't use their own tools.
That was always a thought lingering in the back of my head.
Rate me rainbows, but maybe they'll make a workshop-greenlight-alike thing for Source 2 mods? I don't believe they abandoned modding scene on purpose, the massive chunk of their staff are ex-modders, this shit is like killing your parents. Or leaving them die in distress while rolling in money.
I want to give you a :v: rate and a "Optimistic" rate for this post! as I agree with you and that post is funny!
What are you talking about?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P50fvL_EWYY You get a lot of eyes train in only 1 hour of gamin, just becauze you focus your eyes in a very closed pannel with retroilumination.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P50fvL_EWYY You get a lot of eye strain in only 1 hour of gaming because you're focusing your eyes on a very close backlit panel.
Holy fucking fix'd Dude, you need to get help for that problem you have. Also, the issue isn't that the screen is close to your face since the lenses force your eyes to focus to infinity. Looking in a rift is the same strain as looking at the sky. The issue comes from the discrepancies between the game's representation of your head's motion and your head's actual motion.
I wonder if source 2 mods would be playable on the steambox?
It's the gabecube. Also, that would be interesting.

Oh god does that need to go
I can't wait for the day Valve announces Source 2!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hmaHj6mpT0k This would be interesting for the Jeep system in Source 2.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hmaHj6mpT0k This would be interesting for the Jeep system in Source 2.
But the vehicles are pretty much essential... You don't want them destroyed easily. Though it would be interesting for a general upgrade to the physics engine, with deformities and such.
^deformation* lol. I'd really like to see a huge improvement in the lighting/ materials front first and foremost.
^deformation* lol. I'd really like to see a huge improvement in the lighting/ materials front first and foremost.
me too im tired of shitty lighting in source.
me too im tired of shitty lighting in source.
Especially since they broke it and now all the maps (at least on HL2 era games) have that god awful rainbow lighting bug.
Especially since they broke it and now all the maps (at least on HL2 era games) have that god awful rainbow lighting bug.
I thought that was just because they didn't compile their maps properly?
Especially since they broke it and now all the maps (at least on HL2 era games) have that god awful rainbow lighting bug.
that's fixed
that's fixed
You mean this? [t]https://f.cloud.github.com/assets/4409145/492846/af3c6080-baf8-11e2-8ec7-c41a7d24c4dc.jpg[/t] Last time I played HL2 it was last Saturday, and it was still there. I also haven't gotten a response from Alfred yet on github. EDIT: Nope, still there.
I think he means "fixed" as in "valve doesn't do that anymore in recent releases"
no i mean in the current hl2 beta it's fixed for me at least
My only question is, will it be a separate engine or another update?
