It's coming to PC.

EA is publishing it, so it's likely to be Origin only.
That's what bothers me. It's not that Origin is bad, I just don't like dividing my games between two different accounts.

I don't know, I don't really like Origin or that I have to use multiple programs to manage games but it has grown on me. Doesn't bother me anymore.
Looks amazing! it is easily the best Source has ever looked.

There is nothing in the video that couldn't be done with the latest source engine..

You don't know that, they might have much better / multilayer normal maps, it's hard to tell by just seeing a badly compressed Xbox video.

Thing is, no one has unlocked the full potential of it yet. Titanfall is literally the best looking of any source game, and has the unlocked the full power Source has to offer.
If you think otherwise than you can get off Valve's dick. This game looks amazing.

source is like the cell processor of ps3?
Source 2 better be like this...

except engines rarely have a set 'potential' - only a rarely-reached point where it would be smarter to start over (and modernizing the renderer is not even close to that point)
They definitely did something to the IK system for locomotion. Either that or they made an ungodly amount of walking animations for those titans.
There is nothing in the video that couldn't be done with the latest source engine..
it's still the best Source has ever looked.
Also, idk what they did but the normal maps appear to have been improved a hell of a lot... In that I can actually tell they're there and they don't look like shit with sharp lighting.

Eh, I'd rather have it look like Reset or Metro (in terms of graphical ability).
Eh, I'd rather have it look like Reset or Metro (in terms of graphical ability).
whats the difference? pretty much most next gen engines have similar rendering capabilities
also it looks fuckin incredible

Dude, there's like no dif--- You're not just put off because that footage is running on a console, are you?
Where's the disconnect here? I don't get it.
whats the difference? pretty much most next gen engines have similar rendering capabilities

Yeah, I just feel that engines designed around 3rd-person perspective are usually designed differently (in terms of how they decide rendering should be handled); and the video posted earlier looks fantastic, but I feel the style (shit, dunno exactly what I mean) would be different if it was supposed to be a FPS like Metro.

I've mapped enough Source to notice when there is Source water and displacements in a game.
The vegetation also looks a mighty lot like source, which was said already though.
To be honest, while it looks great for source, it's not that graphically impressive compared to some, but that doesn't really matter that much when the graphics look good enough. There's a point in games where the action goes fast enough that you really won't even notice the small details and if a bit less detail gives me a better game, I'm all for it.
Heres a 1080p version of that demo:

The none mech gameplay looks exacly like COD.

Except it has much more freedom of movement. Even if the weapons handle similarly(similar animation style) the similarities pretty much stop there.

I think COD has a good weapon feel to it (for MP), and I'd love to be able to play a game much like it, without it's shitty community or the gameplay exploits (quickscope, that 360 noscope shit, etc)
Considering the fake-massive scale it has going on with the ships warping in above, I really want something like that in HL3.
The one thing that bothered me is how off the lip syncing was, ironic considering its the Source engine. :v:

I noticed it as well... Was that the game, or the video?

Because no one is crazy enough. There's no doubt Titanfall is lookin hawt, but it makes some sense that Respawn has moved from one brush engine to another. Realistically though, no one in the modding community is that crazy to go all out bananas with source, however danharibo is right. Okay maybe not 100% right, but like 90% right. You could achieve a lot of what's happening there on the latest SDK release.
Why does Titanfall use 8 years old engine anyways?
Why does Titanfall use 8 years old engine anyways?
DO you have eyes?
That looks amazing for an "8 year old engine".
Why does Titanfall use 8 years old engine anyways?
Just because it's a more gradual improvement, rather than a big deal every 1-2 years, doesn't mean it's the same as it was 8 years ago. Just because Source is still "Source 1" It's far from what it was 8 years ago.

Its still brush based and very limited engine.
Its still brush based and very limited engine.
If you update it slightly (like make models have lightmap grids), you can use it much more effectively, by replacing most brush-based geometry with models (as most engines are now-a-days).
Source renders models for really cheap compared to brushes.

Is it possible Respawn did something like this? Is there a way to tell from the gameplay vids?
Why does Titanfall use 8 years old engine anyways?
Because the devs are familiar with the engine and it gives 60 fps on consoles (says devs).
