It took 2 GTX Titans to run the Brigade tech demo (with some artifacting) @ 40 FPS.
Maxwell series is next on Nvidia's road map, I imagine it being second generation maxwell where it can feasibly run ray tracing with no artifacting. Source 2 isn't exactly coming any time soon anyway, so...
According to one of the authors, it runs even faster on AMD hardware: so hopefully the next AMD lineup can push out a reasonable frame rate on high-level single card setups.
How gracefully does it degrade, though? I know nothing about what knobs are adjustable for older hardware, but I'm inclined to claim that having qualitative features fall out of a holistic method means that everything degrades at once - i.e., you can't strip everything out but the geometry.
It'll be a bit jarring - for Source, at least - to not support the toaster for once.

I don't know... Valve's next big push is an "esports Summer!" They will release Dota 2 next month, host the International, and release the "Free to Play" documentary film.
Valve also has hardware in the works. Several Valve Devs have physical "steamboxes" they are beta testing right now. Also, they have a new controller that has been in testing for a while. My guess is that they will release the new "steambox" and controller to coincide with the "esports summer" theme of the next few months.
Also, later this year we'll see the next TF2 update that they have already hinted at.
Once all of this is wrapped up, the next big thing Valve has on their plate is Source 2. We may see hints of Source 2 throughout 2013 and possibly a full reveal towards fall. If Valve releases Source 2 in 2013 it will be towards the fall or winter. However, my hunch is that they are targeting spring 2014 for a Source 2 release.
And you may not agree with me here but Valve's first Source 2 game will not be Half-Life 3. We'll probably see see _________ 3 as the debut Source 2 title.
theres nothing wrong with baked lighting and theres also nothing wrong with bsp
they just good at different things when compared to their realtime counterparts and thats completely fine :~)

Most likely L4D3, or an entirely new IP (F-STOP)

F-STOP isn't a game. Its a game mechanic which was planned for Portal 2.

I'm guessing that's just a fan name for it?

CS:GO is the closest we'll get to CS2 for a very long time.
What is the difference between Counter Strike 2 and CS:GO? This is the same thing "Episode 3" versus "Half Life 3": why do you care so much about what it's called?

If that were the case CSS would be Counter Strike 2 you dimwit.

it would Condition Zero
it would Condition Zero
Yeah I guess you're right. Though it would be more like CS 1.5, chronologically you are correct.

But isn't the first CS now 1.6? I can't remember versions anymore.
Just wondering what if the flagship game for Source 2 is actually Ricochet 2. I mean the fan base have been waiting over a decade for the game.
F-STOP isn't a game. Its a game mechanic which was planned for Portal 2.
They said they might use F-Stop for a future game, so a game may possibly be revolved around the mechanic F-Stop, like Portal was revolved around Portal
If the F-STOP mechanic was as interesting as everyone in the Portal 2 dev team said it was, then it's likely it'd be introduced as a major mechanic in HL3, and have it tied in with the Borealis storyline.
Is it happening yet ?

According to a document that was leaked on valvetime.net, Valve is working on numous projects including a game featuring the F-STOP mechanic! I can't wait to play it whatever form it will be in!

About that list of projects.

It's not a list of projects, it is just an email list. Anyone can make up an email grouping. Some are inside jokes. I am mainly amused to see people attempting to interpret things from them. It is like a form of divination.
