Why don't they give it a new name Like SilverSrc or shit.
Silver kinda implies it's worse than gold, no?
Silver kinda implies it's worse than gold, no?
PlatinumSource. DiamondSource PizzaSource
rainbow source but then that would be a pot of gold and they'd be full circle.

Source 2 Discussion V2: The Name Brainstorming Shitthread
Source 2 Discussion V2: The Name Brainstorming Shitthread
Hopefully by v2 we'll actually have something to talk about
I hope they expand the maximum map size. In Team Fortress 2 you can have a map that's 32,768 wide, 32,768 long, and 32,768 tall. I'd like to maybe see somewhere close to 100,000x100,000.
Fuel for the fire, retoast from the general discussion thread:
[t]http://i.imgur.com/IwAmjjp.jpg[/t] This image not only contains Source 2 hints, but it also contains L4D3 hints. The URL seems to be accessible internally only, since it doesn't exist from the outside. Sauce: http://www.reddit.com/r/DotA2/comments/1js55n/valve_tour_gallery_ti3_merch_preview/
Hmm. L4D3? WHY GABE WHY Because we NEEDED more NPC spamming in MP to show off the engine
i would be happy if they release source code with l4d3, as they did with hl2 im too optimistic?
i would be happy if they release source code with l4d3, as they did with hl2 im too optimistic?
Too optimistic tbh. Valve stated they only release the Source code with Half-Life games because those are the bare bones games.
There's no point in releasing the source code. If anything it'll spawn an army of kids that'll make stupid ass clones with one new weapon or something similar stupid.
There's no point in releasing the source code. You know, that whole modding community.
Valve should call their engine the SteamEngine.
There's no point in releasing the source code. If anything, these kids will eventually learn to make bigger and better things, no need to discourage them.
It'd be amazing if Source 2 supported world portal entities by default. Imagine the mind-bending HL3DM maps we could make with world portals!
Fuck the thread is now a year old
Um, except the fact that we'll be able to make games on the engine. You know, that whole modding community.
I agree but I can't help but think that's something Valve is considering. There's a surge in people unwilling to read a few pages of whatever to learn anything before starting.
So because a bunch of kids try to learn and improve in the game dev field by making terrible mods, nobody should be doing so ? I agree with you though but us agreeing on something doesn't change anything inside Valve.
It was interesting to see that screen, even though I didn't understand most of it.
Fuck the thread is now a year old
Happy Birthday, thread!
I guess source 2 will be Forward+ rendering, since dota 2 uses a mix of forward and deferred lighting, right?
If you can make it in portal 2 then it can be done in hl3.
Not necessarily since there's still a chance of Source 2 NOT having world portal support by default. It probably won't happen, even if it would be amazing if they could be done in HL3.
To be honest I can't see Valve not including world portals, they seem to be very handy for mappers/Valve themselves.
To be honest I can't see Valve not including world portals, they seem to be very handy for mappers/Valve themselves.
They add an extreme amount of possibilities, so I really do hope they are in.
To be honest I can't see Valve not including world portals, they seem to be very handy for mappers/Valve themselves.
I could see them being used as part of, say, an E3 demo, to combine a bunch of disparate gameplay parts into one map. But then, we all know that stuff at e3 is not necessarily included on release.
To be honest I can't see Valve not including world portals, they seem to be very handy for mappers/Valve themselves.
They make it to where you don't have to carve into buildings to get a desired room.
according to my friend these fancy CS:GO maps use worldportals he still won't give me the files and it has been a year. he may have even lost the files apparently Sadly apparently CS:GO doesn't have linked_portal_door, but this would be a hell of a deathmatch if he actually did something with it.

I've never mapped for it, or any brush based engine for that matter.
