Understandable... I still would love to see Source 2 announced. And I think others would have too!
So 2 weeks ago Valve released the DOTA 2 workshop tools (old news I know), so even though not all the features of Source 2 is in this build we have something to go on for the Source 2 SDK:
- Almost real-time compiling of new maps
- Different formats than of the original Source engine
- A redesigned Hammer editor (which I'm dubbing as Hammer 5.0)
- New tools for the engine that previously you would need third party tools to do the same thing with a UI for Source 1
- DX11 and up to 8-core 64-bit support
- With the release of these tools I am expecting the engine with a new game to released sometime next year (In valvetime of course)
So that is what we can confirm from the rumors we've been getting for 2 years of this next-gen game engine.
You are fast man :v:
This thread should be merged with that one about Dota alpha tools.
I wonder how it will compare to Source, like is it going to follow the same tech tree like id tech 2, 3, and 4 did, or will it look completely different.

Considering this thread is older and that thread is in the mapping forum, it would make more sense the other way around.
Do you guys have any idea, if they use BIK and sound miles system for this new version of Source?
