IGN: Haaxxx (I bought the trailblazer pack) I currently claimed some mountain peak on: server - Understanding (EU) realm - Ledge (tier 3)
EU servers? Awesome. I was lagging a ton playing earlier and blamed it on too many players on the server, only to find out there are currently only US servers.
EU servers? Awesome. I was lagging a ton playing earlier and blamed it on too many players on the server, only to find out there are currently only US servers.
Yep. I plan on picking up my claim and planting it on an EU server now. I had such shit FPS on some of the US servers and ok FPS on others. Some it would flicker 7-25 and others 25-45 averaging out at somewhere between 30-40.
Any news on when those will be online?
Any news on when those will be online?
The best source for news is David Georgeson on twitter and he is the Director of Development for the EverQuest Franchise at SOE (EverQuest, EverQuest II, EverQuest Next and EverQuest Next Landmark!) He will happily answer quests and keep you up to date on everything constantly. I haven't seen many people this good at communication before. Not only that he is very dedicated to his job on alpha release he did a 38 hour shift. Because of problems he refused to stop working until everything was fixed. This guy is awesome. Hell he is answering questions right now. The minute EU servers are up he will let you know. He will probably let you know minutes before to. https://twitter.com/DaveGeorgeson ------ And as he said just a few minutes ago there is supposedly a large patch coming out today. Well they release an update every day and they are generally good anyway but still.
Any word on when the EU servers will be up? And do I have to start over (asides from getting a claim again)?
You can already see the EU servers in the server selection but they're inactive, so I assume it won't be long now.
Any word on when the EU servers will be up? You can have multiple claims on multiple servers if you can afford the upkeep once you can craft more claim flags. Characters aren't linked to servers like in traditional mmos. In fact the other day I kept logging into the wrong server and wondering where my claim was and realized I was on the wrong server. You can change servers at will from the login screen and ingame at the biomes hub.

Yeah, right now I'm struggling to get a bronze pick nevermind more claim flags! Resource collection is quite slow - I'm hoping it picks up a bit. We should get on the same world or something if you live in the UK once EU is up :)

We should get on the same world or something if you live in the UK once EU is up :)
Sounds good there are two new servers coming up. Sadly good claim spaces get taken super fast so before you know it you are claiming spaces far away from eachother or on different islands but we can try. Also expect MASSIVE ques that will take hours to get into an EU server the second they go up. Well if it is anything like the last time they closed servers and opened them that will be the case. Considering all the US players servers are still up and they are playing on them that should lighten the ques a bit. And those long ques was when we only had 2 servers and only a few islands so with luck it will be nothing like in the past. I just need to collect the Burled wood to craft the last pickaxe. A shame they did not do what Firefall did where for each thumper there was a founders variant (same stats just looked more foundery) as you quickly replace your founders pickaxe. Well you still use it for chopping wood as it is highest tier for that. What doesn't make sense t me is why they didn't just make it look like an axe considering it is tier 5 axe and tier 1 pickaxe. [editline]7th February 2014[/editline] So I tried to make a test time lapse video over a period of 30 minutes whilst I walked back to my claim to craft a couple of things then pick up my claim flag ready for when EU servers go up but I think I might need to increase the amount of frames it takes. A bit fast for 30 minutes. [t]http://static.dyp.im/Hn8RdWTLa2/11b752841abf94599bbd12b7d38fe4f7.gif[/t] [editline]7th February 2014[/editline] Update on the EU servers they was set up wrong.
David: you may have noticed the lack of EU servers. They were set up slightly incorrectly. Fixing that now. Still intend for today.
Another update
We're working hard. We realize it's getting very late over there. Trying! More soon.
And also where the servers are located.
Amsterdammed. (Too much Van Damme.)
Hopefully they mean 'EU today' and not 'US today'. :v: Also the servers are located in Amsterdam? Suhweet, couldn't ask for a better location.
Take note this is SOE they are terrible at getting servers up. Last time I was waiting for over 10 hours (so all fucking day) for the servers to come back online.
Considering they're already visible in the menu and they said that they merely set them up slightly incorrectly I hope it's not gonna take too long.
So as to not confuse myself when buying a Founder's Package: The founder's packages available cover both Landmark and the actual game, correct? Or am I way off?
Just Landmark for now.
Just Landmark for now.
For now, but when they get around to the other part will the package I purchase cover that as well?
For now, but when they get around to the other part will the package I purchase cover that as well?
Possible but not likely, maybe they give people who bought the package a bigger chance to get into the alpha/beta of EQN but since it's technically a seperate game I highly doubt they straight up give you guaranteed access. [editline]7th February 2014[/editline]
We decided that there was a better way to config the EU servers, so we're holding off launching them until later today. Still plan today.
Damnit. :v:

None of your stuff will carry over to EQN as Landmark is its own game. You say "both landmark and the actual game" this is an actual game that just happens to be on the same engine and uses the same assets as EQN because they decided to take the tools they was using to make EQN and make a game out of it. As this is a building game they are considering putting the cool stuff into EQN as these two games go hand in hand. They basically took the building tools they used for making EQN and decided they was simple enough for anybody to use so they found a way to turn it into its own building game that will grow to involve more features such as combat as development goes on. ------------- Again I feel it is too easy to confuse this game as just an extension of EQN when it isn't. It is a shame as it may not get the acknowledgment it deserves when finished that it is its own thing.
Here's what I was working on before I deleted my claim: I could only find one spot to claim and it was mostly a hill so I just carved out a big chunk and decided to build a tavern in it. Wish you could build 2x2x2 though, 1x1x1 can be a bit too small sometimes and 3x3x3 can be just a bit too big.

I have crafted it but not used it as I have yet to collect enough resources to start building stuff properly.
Not yet, most of the actual building was made by handplacing 1x1x1 blocks. :v: Also downtime+update in 10 mins.
I was told building was not worth my time until I had at least gotten the select tool as it made things 100x easier. I got the tool now. It is midnight and I feel so drained today that I think I will just leave it until tomorrow unless those servers get up quick so I can grab a god spot.
Yeaahhhh I should really get the selection tool first. Working with the tiny-ass block for anything non-decorative is NOT fun.
Argh, i really want this, reminds me of the SWG player towns so much.
Someone just asked. Q
I hope you guys go all out on environment effects. They would just make it even better. Rolling mists
And John Smedley replied. A
heck yes we will. we just got a new particle system no one outside of SOE has seen.
The game can look amazing at times this will make it even better cannot wait to see them. -------- Also check this shit out its awesome. Pls stop, my wallet can't take this amount of rape. Gorgeous screenshots though.
Update notes.
• Burled wood planks now require only 60 burled wood logs to craft (down from 100). Some people may wonder why this gets top billing on today’s update notes… Other people completely understand. • We have completely overhauled the claim placement. The previous version and display were difficult to understand when an island became saturated with claims and finding an open spot that was available was almost impossible. We will continue to iterate on the new version but wanted to get it out to everyone to help them find open claims in the world. • In order to fix an issue with people generating infinite resources, we now will only allow people to build outside of their claims using dirt. No mud pies, please. • The Salvage button on the UI has changed! It now works as a Delete Item area. Simply drag and drop any item from your inventory to this part of the window and it will prompt you to delete the item. When Salvaging gets added back to the game, it will be part of crafting and will have to find a new home. You can no longer drag and drop items in the world to delete them. • Fixed an issue that could send you to random parts of an island when teleporting between islands or worlds. • If you activate a tool on the action bar, it will now appropriately highlight. • The Founder’s Pickaxe will now keep the particles with it rather than letting them trail behind sometimes • You can now type numbers (instead of having to use the up/down buttons) to set the desired number when splitting stacks of items or when crafting multiple items. • The compass on the map now rotates to show you the correct orientation of the world. • You can no longer delete a claim unless you have room in your inventory for all the items on it and the claim flag that will be returned to you. • Fixed an issue where placing voxels could accidentally force a character “outside” of the world. • Items dropped anywhere on the Hero window will now auto-equip in the appropriate slot. • Bringing up the map no longer unequips your harvesting tool. • There is now music on the loading screen and in character create/select. • Fixed an issue that would cause you to “glide” up slopes when you jumped when running up a steep hill. • Escape should now close UI windows as intended. • The displayed count of items in a stack will now update as you open/consume those items. • “Grid Mode” now affects healing, smoothing, painting and use of the line tool. • Autorun (Numlock) will now turn off if you attempt to move forward or backward. • Crafting categories should no longer collapse while crafting. • People can no longer harvest trees on a claim. Tree houses are once again safe! • The grappling hook will no longer glow at night. • Props should now work correctly with add/delete/pickup and undo/redo. • Claims will now automatically template themselves when you delete them. This can fail if you already have a large amount of voxels templated. Known issues: This template will include procedural props and if you have too many templates, it may exceed the amount allowed to be templated and fail. These will be fixed as soon as we can. • We’ve added some functionality to the Evac to Safety command from the Main Menu. If you get stuck on someone’s claim without any way to remove yourself (pesky pit traps), if you use this command it will move you to a nearby location that should be safe!
So I have been building and made a time lapse of it. I was building for an hour and fifteen minutes and decided to stop to eat but considering the time lapse is only a minute and thirteen seconds in length I uploaded it to youtube. So here is what I have so far. Also if anyone can recommend better time lapse software that is free and gives higher quality recording that would be great.
I feel it's a bit too fast and it kinda lacks a 'finished product' picture at the end but it wasn't too shabby.
I feel it's a bit too fast and it kinda lacks a 'finished product' picture at the end but it wasn't too shabby.
Well it is fast because I was worried the file would be to big recording 1 picture each second so I set it to 1 picture ever 2 seconds. I was surprised how small the file size was so I will make it double the pictures taken next time. It didn't have a finished product picture at the end as I just closed the game mid way through building to go eat. I uploaded the video (took 5 minutes) and posted it here. In future I will just make multiple videos of the entire building being made and edit them into one video and edit in a video as well in real time of me walking around the finished building. With luck I can find some better time lapse software too for better quality.
