What did you use for the walls by the way? Just the smooth stone material?
What did you use for the walls by the way? Just the smooth stone material?
Nope.
The flooring is currently stone and the supports are wooden. The bottom half of the wall is the very bottom right wood type from the list and the top half of the wall is marble.
Take note that marble is a tier 3 resource and will require the highest level pick you can craft with a stone forge to mine it.

I generally prefer to craft the best harvesting equipment and create the best tools before I start building in games like this.
Ah, I was wondering why it looked so much better than any of the stone stuff I had avalibe.
Time to gather for a new pick then.
The OP has been updated to show the new map system and info about it.
Here are the new pictures of it anyway.
The flags represent peoples claims and you can tick a box to show the buffer in red for where you cannot claim. When the buffer is on all land not red can be claimed.

-----
Also my claim is on Oasis (tier3) and the server is Satifaction (EU)
There is still space near me and I am on now at the time of this post collecting resources (more marble, wood, stone, ect...) not recording anything I will only record when building from now on.
Also because the video I posted stopped abruptly here is what my claim looks like at this time.

(that tree in my claim in the 3rd picture simply will not let me delete it even if I middle mouse click or right click or even use the select tool)
I'm on your world now & I added you on Steam.
Not sure if I'll be able to gather resources here because it's tier 3 though.
Where exactly is your claim?
My claim is where my guy is on this map.
[t]http://i.imgur.com/C7cQ8Ei.png[/t] [t]http://i.imgur.com/6aA5Ijd.png[/t]
Also be quick people have been claiming around me quite a bit.
[t]http://i.imgur.com/OTfyosW.png[/t]
Anyone know how you can allow people to build on your claim/allow them to claim really close to you? If that's even in yet, there seems to be a whitelist system but it didn't work out when we tried.

Currently they have disabled the ability to whitelist who can build on your claim as it broke and make it so anyone could build on your claim. They will re enable it when they fix it.
When it comes to claiming next to your claim because of the buffer I do not believe it is currently possible.
So what server are you guys on?
[editline]i read[/editline]
nvm read satisfaction(eu) somewhere.
So I made another time lapse WITH NEW MUCH BETTER SOFTWARE that allows for higher quality even more frames and customization and smaller file sizes. Video is not as fast and is in 1080p rather than 360p.
Watch me struggle to build a sloped roof with my limited tool set. (I have edited out all of the times I had to tab out to stop the video as this took a while to do so I had plenty of breaks from frustration. I also included pictures at the end of the video)

Alternatively if you don't want to see the process here is the current end result of the video.

Looks like you were struggling with the roof as well, they really need to add a diagonal square shape for roof building.
I'm gonna wait with building the roof until I get the line tool, should make the whole process a lot smoother.
[editline]9th February 2014[/editline]
After a bit of fiddling with the add and select tool I found a way to get a decently thin 45° angle roof, probably the best you can get without the line tool.
[t]http://filesmelt.com/dl/roof1.jpg[/t]
I can explain how I did it if you want?

Please do.
This is what I tried to do but failed.

Like he says in the video sometimes you get this odd step looking thing and that is what was happening to me but it looked OK on the other side so what I was doing as you can see in my video is that I copied it and flipped it around. It was not perfect but it did the job.
Start out by placing the slope shaped block with the add tool, any size will do really but I went with the smallest one.
Next you want to select the voxels with the select tool in the bottom row, like shown in the picture, and copy it (ctrl+c).
[t]http://filesmelt.com/dl/tut110.jpg[/t]
Delete the original slope and press paste (ctrl+v) you should now get a see-through yellow block that represents what you copied, don't worry if it doesn't have a slope, it does that sometimes.
Just left click to place it down, the result might be slightly wobbly, I don't know what causes it (material maybe?) but you can try over a few times and you should end up with something that's at least reasonably straight.
[t]http://filesmelt.com/dl/tut23.jpg[/t]
Next just move one voxel back, raise it up one and left click again. Keep doing that until you get something along the lines of this.
[t]http://filesmelt.com/dl/tut31.jpg[/t]
Then all you have to do is move it down one, rotate it around so the slope faces the other way, and repeat the process of moving and placing it.
You should end up with something like this.
[t]http://filesmelt.com/dl/tut41.jpg[/t]
Just keep copying this until you get the roof you want, if you want a slightly 'wavy' roof you can get that effect by selection what you have, copy and pasting it but instead of placing it so it follows the slope move it forward one voxel, like shown here.
[t]http://filesmelt.com/dl/tut52.jpg[/t]
And you end up with this.
[t]http://filesmelt.com/dl/tut62.jpg[/t]
Hope this helped, it might be a bit finnicky and I'm sure the line tool works better than this but hey at least it works. :v:
He is using the method I learnt from a video but it only works like 30% of the time and I simply could not get it to work.
I assume you used this method
That works too but as stated it seems to not work more often than it does work, the method I used almost always works, even if it takes a bit more time.
I was all happy to almost have the selection tool to realize I need to spend half the resources needed for it to get the pickaxe that allows the mining of topaz.
:suicide:
Damn, game looks fun but 40 quid for Alpha access does seem like a lot of money.

You'll gather it all in no time. Trust me, the selection tool is totally worth it.
Blegh, this look really interesting but I am hesitant to spend 60 bucks on an alpha.
So I finished my home (sort of) from the outside.
I did record it but decided it was not worth uploading as it is mainly me standing around for ages thinking of ideas to make 2 sloped roofs work but they just don't work it makes a mess of things.
So here it is. A small 1 block slope for the second roof as that is the best I can do without getting problems.
[t]http://i.imgur.com/GGJVBHK.png[/t] [t]http://i.imgur.com/q93Pnk0.png[/t]
I am OK with how things turned out as this is mainly a test building based on a 3d model I made a little while ago. It only took a part of a corner of my claim so I will build something bigger and more interesting with the rest of it.
[t]http://i.imgur.com/9ZJ4JeB.png[/t]
I intend to make something bigger like some of the other 3d models I designed. Not sure what one to make in Landmark next.
[t]http://i.imgur.com/LYX1EiA.jpg[/t] [t]http://i.imgur.com/L4QuKpq.jpg[/t] [t]http://i.imgur.com/K5vwu3r.jpg[/t]

I could be creative and make something completely new but forget that it would require some thought.
Looks pretty nice, good job! What's the material you used for the roof?
You'll gather it all in no time. Trust me, the selection tool is totally worth it.
Yeah I know. It's pointless building right now because you gotta build voxel by voxel if you want anything nice looking. Anything not nice looking is a waste of resources.
Also I got the iron pick, but the fucker is dull so the stats are shit on it compared to my previous swift pickaxe.

well you could grow some balls and get the beta for 30 bucks by the end of the month or, better yet, spend 0 bucks to get an even more polished product a couple months down the line!
Looks pretty nice, good job! What's the material you used for the roof?
Go onto the list of wood patterns and it is the bottom left.

As a test I cut down really far with my claim and didn't think it would even go half the depth it did so in future once I am done with the surface I will start to build underground to cannot let so much space go to waste.
Where do I find Topaz?
I can't find the shit anywhere. I've been looking for 2 hours.
Topaz is a Tier 2 gem and can be found on the surface in Tier 2 areas or connected to Silver Veins.
It can be mined with a Iron Pick or higher. "A brilliant orange gemstone".
Happy Topaz hunting.
So this is what I'm currently working on, complete redesign of my previous attempt at a house, looking much better I'd say.

Time to add the roof on.

I wish you luck with that bit where 2 parts are going to meet because they like to make a mess when they combine.
I've got a plan for that bit, no idea if it's gonna work but I sure hope it does.
Building a little keep/tower with a bunch of shit and walls

Currently trying to make a roof for the stable with the tutorial Demoness posted.

Also, your images are gone(for me atleast).
It's because filesmelt it down, I can reupload everything but it should be back up soon.
As for the roof... well...

I had to sacrifice the sides and put thatch there as well however, they just would not work properly the way I wanted them to, the engine spazzes out whenever two different material'd diagonal things go on top of eachother.
