I like Fallout3 more than New Vegas because it reminds me of home. It take place where I live. The dad of one of my good friends voiced Mr.Burke. Shit, even my home town is in there. Fo3 may not have the best story, or the greatest gameplay, but it feels like home to me. Oh also, I fucking adore the Coin Shot ammo in New Vegas. I can now tell everyone that my gun shoots money. Does anyone know of any good mods that adds a gun that uses 12 gauge ammo? I made over 700 rounds of coin shot and I'm going to use it.
You must really live in a shit hole if a post-apocalyptic world reminds you of your hometown.
You must really live in a shit hole if a post-apocalyptic world reminds you of your hometown.
No no. I mean that it takes place EXACTLY where I live. D.C is a 10 minute drive from my house. The locations and architecture are very familiar to me.
Okay man. Just remember to watch out for Deathclaws!
Naw man, those mirelurks. Angry little bastards. You're taking a stroll down the national mall and BAM, ten of em just pop out of the water and eat your dog. RIP Speedy.
So you liked Fallout 3 more because you don't like RPGs?
That's a way to put it. I can stand an RPG game as long as it has the role-playing aspect. So you play a role. In the game. Not just try to find yourself in a sea of stats and numbers.
So, should I use the XP version of Tale of Two Wastelands as a fix? Because that's how it was seemingly fixed in that one thread. Nothing else seems to be working.
I got a fallout new vegas disc with every add on that's unopened and will it work on steam ? and I might install it or not but if I do I am going to have a infinite ammo mod.
After reading comments everywhere about FO3 and NV, I feel like I must be one of the few people who doesn't give a shit either way and just likes playing both games. I mean, say what you will about FO3 not being true to backstory or whatever, but I prefer its atmosphere to that of New Vegas. New Vegas (and since NV is claimed to be more in the spirit of the older games, I'm going to assume this applies to the older games) is very... Western. Very cowboyish, not so much post-apocalypse - more like post-post-apocalypse, I guess. NV is a lot more fun in terms of story and enemy variety and guns, though, and it feels far more lively in those aspects than FO3. On the note of atmosphere - how FO3 feels post-apoc and NV feels post-post-apoc, I feel that maybe FO3 should have taken place earlier in the Fallout timeline, when people would still be struggling with putting vestiges of civilization back together.
and I might install it or not but if I do I am going to have a infinite ammo mod.
Come on now. Your ammo is not going to run out, especially on the lower difficulties.
Fallout was always about post-post-apocalypse, yes. Didn't feel much like a western though, more like Mad Max. In Fallout 1 civilization was beginning to rise with unified currency etc, and plantlife was finally coming back. In Fallout 2 civilization was in full swing with the rise of the Enclave and NCR, and there were trees everywhere. Most of Fallout 3's issues would have been fixed by setting it before FO1 and changing the BoS. As it currently stands it simply makes no sense.
I just realized something. During the Cold War in our timeline, America (and maybe Russia, I think?) developed systems for detecting and taking down incoming ICBMs, yeah? And
Mr. House shot down most of the nukes coming in over Vegas with whatever defenses he had,
right? Did the United States, in the Fallout universe, not develop anti-missile capabilities? Did they not shoot down any of them, or were there so many that the defenses were overwhelmed, or what? Because now that seems like a bit of a plot hole.
Come on now. Like launcher's and such with no running out ammo.

They may be able to stop a couple missiles but each country had so many stopping the majority is impossible. Vegas is not on the coast and not a high-value target so it probably got less missiles directed at it than the coastal cities.

I had ammo like in the middle but not much and a launcher with barley ammo so kind of yes.

And get rid of all the ramshackle settlements and bring in some good ol' sandcrete.

And lasers. He had lasers.

It's[sp]both god mode and infinite ammo with no need to reload.[/sp]

The one reason I prefer nv to fo3 is because fo3 atmostphere was so dead. with only pocket of civilations every now and then. Compared to nv towns and cities everywhere.

Thanks for your help. I only played fallout 3 and new vegas on the xbox. Gonna see if I can install the game and dlc for it on sunday.
To anyone who's familiar with it: how's TTW ? can you actually do a full playthrough with no major issues ?
To anyone who's familiar with it: how's TTW ? can you actually do a full playthrough with no major issues ?
It only crashes a little more often than regular new vegas.
It seems like everybody else has the TTW install problem on XP, but I'm using Win 7, so how is this even happening? It's extremely frustrating. I really want to do this because, after finishing the story and reaching level 50, I feel totally unmotivated to play the game further. Everything feels pointless when I'm not building up my character anymore.
Not to mention the fact that House is a Albert Hughes Einstein type dude, who saw the war coming. And lasers. I felt kinda bad/sad when I found out there was no other way but to kill him. And it gave you....good karma?
Have Any of you Guys Ever Read the "Fallout Bible"?

I distinctly remember doing it, telling someone in the NCR about it, and they said it was a loose end they'd get to later.
What problem ? because i just downloaded the installer and it isn't working.
When it has to extract BSAopt x64.exe, it just gives me a blank command prompt that does nothing, and the installation stops there.
When it has to extract BSAopt x64.exe, it just gives me a blank command prompt that does nothing, and the installation stops there.
That's normal, you're supposed to leave it running.
