Radiation messages in 1 and 2 are pretty sneaky, you're used to having the small window filled up with messages from looking at objects so you don't even glance at it when you suddenly start getting radiation poisoning messages
My online buddy told me a story about how he was walking around for like a week, then he puked blood and died. Or something like that
I finished Honest Hearts.
So, i end up in Zion, Kill every tribal at the start. Then make a straight beeline to the Tribal camp , kill everyone there, take the map, go home.
It took me less than an hour.
Did i do something wrong? I'm serious, tell me.
I like to play Honest Hearts by leaving all my gear behind and playing like a tribal. Makes it actually interesting.

other than throwing the story and lore away? probably.

ah, so i did, infact, manage to fuck up.
Now that i remember, right after the first bridge, there was a named tribal that i shot at because i was paranoid from the ambush. He was important, wasn't he?
Welp.

You even killed the Burned Man?
didnt NMA go thru a period where they hated FO3 because its a very thin veneer of what F1 and F2 really was
distilled for the masses who are bred on CoD n shit
there's always gonna be a hardcore krew who dont like this much like System Shock 2 and deus ex HR
I'd like to see a game set during and immediately after the war. The prologue has the PC scurrying for cover while the air-raid sirens blast, pre-war America still intact...and then mushroom clouds...and then the game proper takes place in the days and weeks following the bombs. Could also be a timer popping up, ala Fallout 1/2, that counts down the 72 hours or so between the initial impacts and the fallout falling out, which if you fail to get into a suitable shelter before it runs out you get baked alive?
Fallout universe canonically used some very nasty dirty bombs that completely irradiated the surface and (magically) altered the landscape. I don't think it would be scurrying around so much as it would be hiding in the sewers as you watch the people around you turn into ghouls.

Well to put it bluntly...
You pretty much did everything wrong.
Honest Hearts was a tad bit boring. The Burned Man was pretty cool, and if I remember right - voiced by Keith Szar...Szaja...Harbinger.

Go through a period? I'm pretty sure they still hate F3 :v: and not only because of what you said (which is a genuine reason by the way, I *like* F3 and I agree with that anyway), but also because they waited, what, seven years for a new Fallout game? and got a reskinned Oblivion with rehashed F1 and F2 plot points instead of a "proper" Fallout game.
Again, I like F3 and it's one of the best games I've ever played when it comes to exploring, wandering the irradiated wasteland and gathering cool loot and stuff, but the main storyline is piss weak.

HH owned
The Survivalist, motherfucker
The only thing I like about the Honest Hearts it's pretty short. Native American stuff isn't my cup of tea but it was nice to see that culture in post-apocalyptic situation. I was a bit disappointed by Joshua, turns out the Burned Man is just a Christian with taste for blood.

It was a tad dull, but it least it mostly played to the game's strengths, unlike Dead Money, which was a total drag, even though it had a vastly more interesting story.
The backstory involving the survivalist was great, though.
I wonder why Bethesda hasn't made a "spin-off" title for Fallout that goes back to its roots as a Turn Based Isometric CRPG to please some of the older fans.

Obsidian would be perfect for that.

Eh. I personally wouldn't like that because I just can't get into the older games, no matter how hard I try. I much prefer the style of Fallout 3 and New Vegas.
Besides, there's no way they'd try to do that. That sounds more like an indie project.
i wont play F2 again simply because i doubt that i could take VGA gfx after all this time
also would modern audiences take to isometric
i mean could they build Van Buren for todays audience *ESPECIALLY* on console
I decided to play Fallout 3 again after a long time.
Turns out it doesn't work on x64 PCs. Keeps crashing.

Works on both of mine and they're both x64? What's the problem you're having?

Well my game used to not start at all, So I switched it to windowed and it started working.
The big problem was at random intervals the game would crash, Once it was after I named my character. Another when I was about to leave the vault, Basically the game would crash before I could leave the vault.

Well, Shadowrun Returns, Wasteland 2 and Project Eternity were all wildly successful Kickstarters, so it looks like the isometric point of view is still alive and well. Not like any big game companies will go for making an isometric RPG, because it's still a pretty niche market compared to all the today's blockbuster games, but it's at least a viable option.
Honestly, I'd love it if the next Beth-made Fallout got savaged by reviewers, making Bethesda outsource the franchise to Obsidian and giving them a free reign to create The Best RPG Ever.
You patched it and everything?
here's the problem... Fallout is a big name
they will only used Fallout in big name game titles and thats... FPS/RPG hybrids
they wont use it in an indie isometric
Considering how successful XCOM was I wouldn't think that a spin-off wouldn't be completely discarded by Bethesda as a publisher.

The Bureau: XCOM Declassified looks like a great spinoff
I mean like a spin off for Fallout.
Anyone here using TTW that can't get Trouble at the homefront to start? I have the radio signal but I hear no sound and the quest wont trigger.
Anybody else NV on an old computer/laptop? I have lowered all my settings, including resolution and I'm almost getting a playable frame rate but I'm wandering what else I can do. I messed about with the .ini but that ended up giving me graphical glitches.

It was a rather bland experience, especially since I went right into it from Dead Money. There were some cool parts, and Joshua was fun to talk to, but overall I just didn't enjoy it that much.

There's a few mods on the Nexus that will help tremendously with this. I can only find NV Stutter Remover ( http://newvegas.nexusmods.com/mods/34832/? ), but I swear I had more on my tracking list. That should help considerably.
