What about shotguns that shoot explosives?
They founded Shady Sands.
I don't see how the wiki could be clearer.
But, JARVIS.MSG says
{111}{}{Well, Shady Sands was founded by a great ancestor of our current leader, Aradesh. He could tell you more of the story. We have a well and irrigation, so we do well for ourselves.}
Aradesh is old as fuck, so a "great ancestor" of Aradesh must be older than old as fuck. Which is pretty damned old.
So if an ancestor of Aradesh founded Shady Sands, how could Katrina, the young woman greeter, also be from the Vault unless the Vault populace joined the town after it had been around for a while?

Aradesh founded Shady Sands. In Fallout 1, it's been around for only 20~ years.

You can assume the writers made a mistake, or that Jarvis was wrong because he was poisoned.
Aradesh founded the humble community of Shady Sands using a G.E.C.K. in the year 2142.
I'm pretty sure both Ardesh and Tandi tell you he was the one who established Shady Sands. It's a large part of why she was pushed to follow in his footsteps as their leader.
you have to give your companions ammo as needed
if you're up against something big, give them 50 shells, if they burn it all, they burn it all
you meet enough caravans and you should have heaps of caps anyway
Not so much 'if' but 'when'. I've found that giving Cass the Bozar from GRA turns her into a whiskey fueled bullet storm. She also burns through 5.56 like it was still being mass produced, 3,000 rounds only lasts her a couple days at most. 'Tis why I leave her with her shitty 20 gauge instead, at least that doesn't kill 40 levels worth of ammo scrounging in about ten real world minutes...
remember this is a game where you're supposed to have fun
Indeed. That's why I rarely, if ever, do the 'proper' thing with regards to what weapon to use on what, etc etc. I just whip the Fat Man or PN's Rail Cannon out if I need to kill something slightly more threatening than a bloatfly :v:
if i wanted the most efficiency you run Boone but since you have heaps of guns ammo caps why not run someone else and have a blast
Boone + Veronica + ED-E = most efficient party.

Everyone else you encounter in Shady Sands also makes it quite clear it was Aradesh who founded it.
Boone is efficient but if I roll with Raul and Cass I can have a cowboy posse.
Come to think of it I don't even think Jarvis ever said that anyway.
Though if they used a GECK why isn't it all green like Vault City?
Hey, I did that Windows Live thing that was in the main menu. What's gonna happen?

I thought you could only have 1 human companion at a time.
Speaking of shotguns...

Because they don't have as many resources as Vault City.
[editline]4th September 2013[/editline]
You literally have a handful of guys, a GECK, and some provisions so you probably can't make a forest out of that shit.

The contents of a GECK have been subject to pretty heavy debate by the writers and fans, especially after Fallout 3, and even to a lesser extent, Fallout 2 and New Vegas. You have to also understand that Vault City is in the equivalent of Oregon, while Shady Sands is in the middle of the Nevada/California desert.
Also, Vault City is in Fallout 2, which takes place after Fallout 1, so obviously more time has passed, and the community was able to get more going. They also had a lot of high tech fancy shit from the Vault that they took and used to get the city going, whereas Shady Sands was a much smaller group, (not all of the Vault as in the case of Vault city) and they were forced to use their contents sparingly.

I will admit it's been years since I've played without a mod that removes the limit, but I believe it's two peeps + non-peep.

Actually no, you can only go with a humanoid companion and a mechanical companion.
My favorite team is Veronica + E-DE.
I appear to be victorious
Fallout 3 doesn't crash when I start a new game anymore!
It does crash, however, when I alt+tab out, but I more okay with that.
It felt wonderful to hear that song
I don't want to set the woooooorld ooooooooon fireeeeeeeeeeee
one cardinal rule is to never ever ever give companions automatic weapons
made the mistake of giving them assault carbines and LMGs and the like they can burn thru 300 rounds in a short engagement (say the 4 merry legion clowns)
the bozar defies belief... here is 24,000 cap weapon that fires precious 5.56
I cant even afford to use it! You essentially burn ammo faster than you can buy it.
Especially since the Ratslayer is the most efficient 5.56 weapon and fine against lesser targets and crits like a mofo.
They do well with the lever action cowboy guns, the modded .357 carbine being remarkably powerful.
Hey, I did that Windows Live thing that was in the main menu. What's gonna happen?
If Games for Windows Live is enabled, it should have popped up the GFWL stuff.
If not, nothing will happen (except maybe it crashes)
Why would you even keep Veronica around, especially with ED-E? ED-E has same and better perks than Veronica, and doesn't constantly run in the way of your attacks be they ranged or melee and get killed.
Boone and ED-E already vaporize everything anyway, so you could have someone actually useful around, like Raul.
Ed-E std is crap
Ed-E with the plasma gun upg is pretty boss
piles of green goo everywhere
Should I crush the white legs or evacuate zion?what fives a most satisfying ending?

GFWL is being shut down soon, so if there's any dlc that's only available through the GFWL marketplace, snatch it up. I think in the case of the Fallout 3 dlc's you can still get it through steam, though for any other game you might fancy getting dlc for you might want to snatch it up.
Also can I get back to zion after completing the storyline?
Automerge died
you can get back to zion... lots of good loot, i left 3 x .50 cal rifles there
crush the whitelegs, the ending is better
Should I crush the white legs or evacuate zion?what fives a most satisfying ending?
I found the Crush the White Legs mission a boring run 'n' gun fest compared to Daniel's mission. Plus, Daniel is haunted by his failures over the Sorrows if you crush the white legs, can you live with that on your conscience?

If you evacuate the Sorrows [sp]Daniel still isn't satisfied, dreaming of Zion and wondering if he did the right thing the rest of his life. And Zion, a radiation-free wonder of nature is left destroyed and polluted by the White Legs.[/sp] Besides, the Sorrows innocence and naivte can't last forever.
I wonder why no one has written a Fallout book yet.

also [sp]if you talk down Joshua at the very end then the Sorrows learn to be militarized but merciful cool guys, which is basically the best kind of society you can get in a horrible irradiated wasteland[/sp]
I got bored and decided to spawn an army of Caesars in the Strip.

After they had killed every NCR-sided person, they left.
