i was thinking today, why doesn't fallout have a society dedicated to this
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Clock_of_the_Long_Now
seems like it would have fit fallout's doomsday preperations very well and the quests around it probably would involve fixing and restoring the clock to its glory, and the group would be a bunch of fanatics who worship a giant clock except unlike the real one, this would be powered by some uber-powerful laser which could be stripped and made into a weapon, sort of like helios and megaton combined but no nuclear explosions ensue

no but nerosurgery performed by a cowboy doc isn't gonna help with your long-term memory

It's even better when your pistol shots end up cleanly decapitating random raiders like a portable guillotine.
i think i need to rethink my idea of playing the game as a melee+unarmed character
nightkins are kicking my shit

I just realized that there is one thing that the Fallout series lacks.
A viking faction. It would be similar to Caesar's Legion, only way cooler.
They'd also yell "FUCK SHIT UP" or some norse stuff while charging at enemies with their power fists or super sledges.

I'm in a PnP game where this is a thing.
Since Ciaster is being a lazy bum and not compiling everything into a nice and convenient .pdf, I'll just post this anyway.
To anyone interested in ever doing their own game of a Fallout PnP, I commissioned Ciaster to rebalance the rulebook, like items and stats and such. He did a pretty good job, but since it ended up being finished close to the end of our campaign, it didn't get to see much use. And so I present to you:
Fallout: PnP Edition: The Rebalancing of a Once Terrible Book - By M. Ciaster, funded and with slight co-authoring by Aperture Fan
Within the "Rebalance" folder, you will find a number of .txt files. Each file has a neatly organized list of items relating to the title of the file. If the titles confuse you, look at "Where to look for what.txt" and it should clarify things.
You'll find a balance of most to all weapons, as well as several new additions for flavor. Just as well, we've concocted "special movement rules" such as sprinting, vaulting, diving, and so on, and even burst firing rebalancing to avoid the tactic of unloading an auto shotgun on something and hitting every shot, thus making skill levels above 100 or so actually worth investing points into.
New and modified weapon mods, and even armor mods, have also been included.
Within the Other folder, you'll see our custom Psyker race (which is a WIP but I doubt any of us are going to get around to finishing it) as well as stats for a custom Android race. The Mass Engagement Rules is a set of rules I was creating for large scale battles, but they're still unfinished and probably not very good. Still, it might help someone. There's also a .txt of critical hit and failure tables in there, for convenience.
And finally, there's a Word document by Melting Data with several new perks of questionable balance.
That's all I have to say about that, and so without further ado I give you the download link:

when do you guys recommend i take on hoover dam?
when do you guys recommend i take on hoover dam?
after you have completed every possible quest in the entire game, including fixing the oven and meat grinder at the airport and every companion quest also after obtaining shitloads of ammunition
I keep trying to play Fallout 3 keeps crashing when I try to play it on my new PC. I've tried so many things to resolve this issue but nothing seems to work. My PC is far better than the old one I used to play Fallout 3 so I don't know what the problem is.

By crashing you mean you can't even start it or it crashes after some time after you launched it?
Anyway, in both cases here's the thing - F3 works like shit on x64 systems, and I'm sure your 7 is x64.

I can play it for like 10-15 minutes until the game freezes with no chance of recovery.
i managed to kill caesar's gang of gangbangers using the art of stealth boy+plasma grenades from the corner when everyone rushed in
i had to reload cause the first time i succeeded with this plan i gooized caesar
[t]http://i.imgur.com/v6o4e4O.png[/t]
and that wouldn't go with my plan of making him my personal slave
speaking of which i feel it's appropriate to ask this question now
what are the global bonuses the readmes say the unique lobotimites and brain bots?
it also says you can have only one of the unique robot. what happens when you try to get the other one?
Not a clue, never got either one. I assume it's because of the diametric opposition setup of the DLC. You can't kill both potential lobotomites in the same game, so you can't make both of them.

Can you actually make Caesar your slave? If not, that would have been an awesome addition to the vanilla game. Imagine if the rest of the game had been written to account for that.
oh i love putting c4 in everyone's pocket and then sitting in the corner and detonating...
you would think with them essentially wearing loincloths they'd notice that theyd see the block of c4 i was putting in their pants....or the fact that i'm putting a dense plastic explosive and detonator in their pocket....

Conversely, they always know immediately that there is a live grenade on their person, but they never know where.

There's a mod that does that with a twist:
[sp]Robco Certified. Caesar can not only become your slave, he can become a cyborg.[/sp]
Although it doesn't lead to any unique responses from other NPCs.
what's the recommended level to go into the DLCs?
