ya most of the best mods have been completed and now mildly maintained, FO:NV has been out for years now so its not too supprising
it seems that factions like the white pants society and powder gangers were gonna have a bigger role in the game, and it's kind of a shame that they don't, cause what other reason would there be for the white shirt society to have a reputation with you if the stairmen and gomertas don't
also kinda weird that the powder gangers are pretty much the only faction not involved in the main quest, during the part with the tribes and such
the great khans also could have been expanded

It is even more of a waste considering the PG Reputation only counts with the NCRCF Powder Gangers.
The [sp]Vault 19[/sp] Powder Gangers you encounter later on are friendly from the get-go no matter how much the NCRCF Powder Gangers hate your guts.
I just realized this now, but does anyone else find the abundance of overly complex doors in the post-nuclear world odd? If they didn't spend so much time on the fancy doors in the Hidden Valley bunker, they probably could've installed a lot more survival-pertinent things.

You've got to bear in mind that after breaking out from the NCRCF, most of the inmates went on to form their own gangs and cut themselves off from the main group. "Powder Gangers" is more of an umbrella term for anyone from NCRCF.
You've got the main faction in NCRCF, Cobb's gang, multiple gangs that are disconnected from the powder gangers, the escaped convicts in Primm and the [sp]Vault 19[/sp] convicts.
and today begins the day i start with my sneaky-explosives-survivalist who's also dumb as bricks
what traits should i use

The BoS didn't build the bunkers. They were pre-war military installations and the BoS just moved in.

I know, but even then it still seems weird.

They were originally US military so the bunkers were kind of theirs to begin with.

the way i think of it is that the bunkers worked just fine, it's just that, through a mix of pre-war society being too exclusive to rich, powerful people and said people not seeing the nukes coming, the few who survived to use the bunkers found they didn't have the infrastructure to start anew and died alone, underground.
essentially, the bunkers and the supplies and machinery were functional, but only a select few had both the status to use them and the means to make their survival count - the pre-war US government not only built the means of their end, but ingrained it within society itself.
is there any point for the white shoe society having it's own reputation other than for disguise purposes? cause all the other casinos in the strip use the strip for it's reputation

Oh god white shoe society, that's the best name I've heard for them yet.
Also do some quests around the strip, go to the guy with the cowboy hat and the guard with the shotgun in the casino bar where all the blackjack tables are. Do his quest and find out stuff.

no i said what's the point for them to have a reputation, when they could just have their opinion of you based off of your strip reputation
i already did that, being a cabinal and all

I hereby declare that the White Shoe Society consists purely of (former) cabinets.
Or cabinals, whatever you want to call them.
Been playing through Fallout 1, and now Killian's guards are trying to kill me because I took out my gun in his store to save his life.

I can only imagine them throwing shoes to attack the Courier now.
EDIT: Found footage of them in action attacking a Courier with low unarmed skill

Fortunately he had the jury rigging perk.

The protocol in that situation was to wait until he gets shot, then kill the assailant. Once the combat ends you need to remember to put away your gun, too.
Either that or you and/or a party member missed and hit either Killian or one of the guards. That'll do it too.
i wonder in what ways caesar's legion would have a good choice to follow if they weren't forced to be a band of evil fuckbags
i read that they would've had more aspects similar to Roman culture, but i'm not sure in what ways
They should've been vikings if anything.
how is white shoe society so funny

Imagine the Empire of Rome at its height apparently. Stability, national duty/unity , slaves, free trade and aristocracy. The opposite of the NCR.
You only really get to see a military camp while with the NCR you experience it from its humble beginnings and watch it grow into an Empire so it isn't really fair grounds for a decision. Whats the NCR and legion have in common is kind of interesting since they're both based off of Rome.
I'd like to see the Legion winning as being canon. Just having the NCR win every time is just boring.

I personally think Independent Vegas is better for canon.
Eh, I always go with NCR because unicycle robits aren't just that interesting. The Caesar's Legion isn't a Viking faction which just makes them boring.
I kinda like those duster dude guys with gasmasks and bigass revolvers.
[QUOTE=TorrentR;42539379]Viking faction which just makes them boring.

Another faction of what amounts to raiders would be boring. An Empire of a faction is far more interesting.
Who said they would be necessarily restricted to being raiders?
Also, they have awesome beards.

Because that's literally what the Vikings were. They were the raiders of Medieval Europe. When the Vikings came, you packed the fuck up and got out of town if you didn't want your family raped, your crops burned, and your livestock slaughtered. Sure, they weren't without culture by a long shot, but they were raiders nonetheless.

weren't they basically just regular merchant/adventurer dudes who sometimes got hired for that stuff though, if they needed the money? as far as i know the only people arranging and taking part in the actual raiding and stealing would be nobles and their men

Maybe; an economy based solely on fucking other peoples' shit up doesn't sound very tenable. But I do know that people all up and down Britain feared the Vikings.
