I think the canon problem mostly is "BoS goooooood,Enclave baaaaaaad". And that the Enclave was basically whiped out during 3,but still had bases, vertibirds, soldiers etc.
Not really. It was the fact that the plotting was entirely a rehash of FO1 and FO2 with no real reason or sensible management of the rehashing. The Enclave returning made no sense whatsoever, since the Oil Rig was destroyed during FO2, and the odds are the NCR and Brotherhood (then allies) came down on Navarro like Hulkamania II. The East Coast Brotherhood made no sense - writing and canon-wise - in their goals. They were self-destructively trying to be Team Brotherhood: Wasteland Police while simultaneously fighting three technical wars at once. (Enclave war, Super-Mutant war, and the general war to civilize the wasteland.) The Super-Mutants are my biggest personal peeve and made no fucking sense whatsoever. FEV was an unstable, barely-tested, and top-secret virus that was only kept in West-Tek and Mariposa. This was a massive point of the Super-Mutant crisis in FO1 and FO2. Their stocks were limited, they couldn't reproduce, and the existing generations would be the last. But oh no, oh wait! Looks like Vault-Tec was given a batch of FEV and allowed to fuck about with it because, what the hell? And why the SM's decided to create more of themselves is never explained and never makes sense in any capacity whatsoever. The original Super-Mutants were either intelligent, cunning, and reasonable brick walls, or braindead and asstarded brick walls, and neither party had an inherent want to create more Super-Mutants. They were indoctrinated and ingrained to do so by the Master, who thought that doing so would create an equilibrium amongst men, with those unwilling to be dipped after the takeover sterilized and left to do as they wished. TL;DR FO3 is a reheated mishmash of the previous Fallout games' plot elements. The GECK and other things are just icing on this lukewarm rice pudding of mediocrity. Fun as fuck though. [editline]18th November 2013[/editline]
everyone who says that gets into a pissy little bitch stance simply because bethesda wanted to make their own story in the fallout universe as opposed to just sticking once again to the west coast. aka they're retarded.
Nobody gives a shit about it not being the West Coast. Infact, that's probably one of the few original things about the plot.
DC was the Capital of more or less the top power in the fallout universe, makes sense to have it look like it had been bombed a hundred times harder than a lot of previous locations sitting in the middle of a desert, I think.
then why is every building still standing, if it got bombed that hard there would be nothing left and if it's such an inhospitable place, why are people still trying to live there and it's been 200 years for fucks sake, just because it was bombed doesn't mean nothing would grow there anymore
then why is every building still standing, if it got bombed that hard there would be nothing left and if it's such an inhospitable place, why are people still trying to live there and it's been 200 years for fucks sake, just because it was bombed doesn't mean nothing would grow there anymore
the bombs in the fallout world are more akin to neutron bombs than nuclear bombs, in that they have relatively low explosive yield but insanely high radioactive emissions
the bombs in the fallout world are more akin to neutron bombs than nuclear bombs, in that they have relatively low explosive yield but insanely high radioactive emissions
That's just fan wank. There's nothing in the games that says they aren't nuclear bombs. In fact every time a nuclear explosion is shown in the series its a thermonuclear explosion.
the bombs in the fallout world are more akin to neutron bombs than nuclear bombs, in that they have relatively low explosive yield but insanely high radioactive emissions
they still have kiloton-yield explosions radiation does not persist for long enough in such amounts that 200 years later nothing is able to grow hell, the people have no excuse for drinking irradiated water when cleaning water of radioactive particles is incredibly easy and the brotherhood would surely know how to do it
To celebrate the ARG I got myself the original two Fallouts + New Vegas Ultimate Edition on steam. Even if the ARG is fake, I still have a ton of things to play now.
So how do I fix, I have seen some people say to download k-light codec, which I did and it did nothing.
Uninstall Fallout 3 or get a Creative card. I can't give your any helpful advice other than that codec bullshit didn't work for me, Creative Alchemy did. Try looking up how to use that without a Creative card. I hear whispers that some people know how to do that. [editline]18th November 2013[/editline]
they still have kiloton-yield explosions radiation does not persist for long enough in such amounts that 200 years later nothing is able to grow hell, the people have no excuse for drinking irradiated water when cleaning water of radioactive particles is incredibly easy and the brotherhood would surely know how to do it
New Vegas kinda reflects this. You could count radioactive zones on one hand. Now put that opposite Fallout 3.
New Vegas kinda reflects this. You could count radioactive zones on one hand. Now put that opposite Fallout 3.
Also the two biggest radioactive zones in New Vegas were a dirty bomb triggered by the Legion and a toxic barrel dump you can drop.
New Vegas kinda reflects this. You could count radioactive zones on one hand. Now put that opposite Fallout 3.
Actually, Mr. House managed to destroy multiple of the bombs aimed at Vegas - only 9 of the 77 bombs actually managed to hit their targets, and even then it was only in the surrounding desert. [editline]18th November 2013[/editline]
Also the two biggest radioactive zones in New Vegas were a dirty bomb triggered by the Legion and a toxic barrel dump you can drop.
You're forgetting the Mesquite Mountains Crater, Nuclear Test Site, Jack Rabbit Springs and The Devil's Throat.
You're forgetting the Mesquite Mountains Crater, Nuclear Test Site, Jack Rabbit Springs and The Devil's Throat.
Sure, but the Nuclear Test Site is, as the name states, a test site for nukes and was probably irradiated long before the war. The Devil's Throat was caused by a truck carrying nuclear waste crashing. Jack Rabbit Springs also has nuclear waste barrels dumped through out the area. My point was that in New Vegas the majority of irradiated areas were irradiated not because of the Great War but because of more local activity.
The Devil's Throat was caused by a truck carrying nuclear waste crashing.
No, no it wasn't. It's a fucking 100-foot nuclear crater.
No, no it wasn't. It's a fucking 100-foot nuclear crater.
Then what's with the cargo truck and REPCONN waste barrels in the place? It's possible to have large pits without it being a crater you know. [t]http://images2.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20110227171253/fallout/images/d/d2/The_Devils_Throat.jpg[/t] It's just a big pit with a pile of waste barrels, I don't know how you think such a small hole could be a nuclear crater. Megaton is bigger and it's just an impact crater.
It's impossible for it to crash post-war, yup. Notice how it's the same size as the Mesquite and Cottonwood craters.
Nothing like that worked post-war, numbskull.
It's impossible for it to crash post-war, yup. Notice how it's the same size as the Mesquite and Cottonwood craters.
Why would anyone drive a nuclear waste cargo truck after the war? It's also nothing like the Mesquite or Cottonwood craters, both of those craters have charred rock and are oblong where Devil's Throat is a large circle on a slope with no charred rock.
Nothing like that worked post-war, numbskull.
I'll admit I was wrong about Devil's Throat, but actually I think you'll find that a LOT of vehicles worked post-war. The Highwayman, the Steam-Truck mentioned in FO1, the NCR obviously has running trucks in their bases and at 188 and stuff, etc.
I'm not saying it wouldn't work, though being half buried I doubt it would now, I'm saying I don't think anyone would want to drive a slow truck filled with radioactive waste.
The guy in the back is wearing a party hat, sunglasses, advanced combat armor, and wielding a unique minigun. He was probably called "Dirk Dudely" and had probably turbocharged it or something. I don't know, Devil's Throat strikes me as generally just a wacky reference area, since it's a big FO1 callback.
Or he was a soldier who decided to go out ironically when he saw what was happening.
I just fully patched FO1. Read the entire manual and an internet guide. Let's start this shit.
Or he was a soldier who decided to go out ironically when he saw what was happening.
A true American hero.
A true American hero.
That soldier who set up in Zion after the nukes fell. He was a true American hero.
Man. I hope Fallout 4 has all those funny glitches FO3/NV Had. Not talking it down or anything, alot of the glitches i've encountered were not gamebreaking.. just random and silly. Loved those
So, I made a personal power-armor reskin that had a guy who was intended to be dead lying in the middle of the Mall wearing the power-armor, right? Yeah, no. Seems I got some wires crossed inside the GECK, because he was up and about and smacking out Super Mutant barricades like he was unstoppable. (I have a personal ESP that makes Power-Armor give you really high DR, in exchange for burning out really fast, so he was basically THE Dude.)
Are we all just forgetting Vault 34 (or whatever the number was),the vault in NV with about a thousand ghouls and radiation out the ass? Yes? Okay.
Speaking of funny glitches. I remember I was in some ruins with an Outcast soldier, and we were fighting a deathclaw. The deathclaw all of a sudden just flew way up into the air and never came back. The soldier turned to me and said "Must have bugged out." Truer words have never been spoken. :v:
Just finished New Vegas as independent for the first time and I have to say it's definitely the most satisfying. Throwing [sp]General Lee Oliver off of the Dam[/sp] at the end was hilarious. Yes Man did sound like he was totally [sp]going to backstab you as soon as he gained sentience[/sp] though. I still haven't played any of the DLCs though since I get really bored being tied down to one quest line/area. Kinda want to play the original two games now that I've finished it, but the graphics/aesthetics really put me off. I find it hard to tell what's happening quite a lot of the time.
Kinda want to play the original two games now that I've finished it, but the graphics/aesthetics really put me off. I find it hard to tell what's happening quite a lot of the time.
Just get a Hi-Res patch for it. Fallout 2 is tons of fun.
at the end was hilarious. Yes Man did sound like he was totally [sp]going to backstab you as soon as he gained sentience[/sp] though
[sp]Devs said he doesn't. The "more assertive" code is so he can only be your bitch and your bitch alone, so nobody can stroll in and tell him to blow up the 38 or something.[/sp]
It's the happy tone he says it in that makes it suspicious. Though he says everything in a happy tone so it's best not to read too much into it.
