The worst part is that Fallout only utilizes like a quarter of that.
It's a 32bit app, so that's to be expected (By default they're limited to 2GB of RAM, even on 64bit hardware+OS), you can patch it though so that it uses the full 4GB available on a 64bit system though. That said, the low res terrain isn't a memory issue, but increasing the memory range does make stuff load a bit quicker.
Am I the only one here that doesn't want to see Fallout 4 set in Boston? I feel like we have seen enough of both of America's coasts. I want to see the heartland. I vote for sweet home Chicago since I live near there. The biggest reason is that I want to see that "urban sprawl" that seems perfect for Fallout. Remember seeing the giant ruins of that city in Fallout 1? And then you never got to see anything like that. I want to explore the burnt out skyscrapers, the old mills, the massive highways. I want to fight urban warfare on the street. Fallout 3 tried to do this but I hated DC's broken up nature. Traversing it via subway was boring and it defeated the purpose of having an urban environment if you don't get to see and explore its ruins much. If they did a mostly urban Fallout game, I think it would be glorious, albeit repetitive at times. It is nice to have the large, open landscapes. I tend to favor larger, more desolate maps like Fallout 3 rather than New Vegas' tiny, cramped map. The bigger and more spacious, the less civilized and more atmospheric it is. This is one of the reasons I favor STALKER: Call of Prypiat to SoC; the environments are huge and pretty barren, giving it all a very "dead" feeling that really drives home just how much of the world went to shit. It also makes civilization more valuable and survival doubly so. If you play Tale of Two Wastelands with New Vegas' hardcore mode on, you will find Fallout 3 becomes way harder. The spacious maps leave food and water more spread out and puts a huge importance on medicine because medical care is not always close at hand like in New Vegas. My point is that, to do an urban setting like Chicago right, the map would need to be huge; larger then any other Bethesda game so far (well, not Daggerfall huge holy shit) to include both urban and open wilderness settings.

I don't know why, but I kinda think that'd be pretty awesome.

Everything in the midwest is very spread out, since most of it is farmland as well, expect massive dusty fields of nothing between every single town. That being said, i could go for the Appalachian mountains and that general area, or perhaps the great lakes.

If anything, the Midwest could be perfect because, besides Chicago, there are many decent sized towns and cities intermixed with open landscape, which provides that comfortable mix I described that Fallout 3 had. Scattered small towns, open wilderness, then one big urban environment. It provides a bit of everything. And this is Fallout we are talking about here. Nothing is on the realistic scale. I went to DC and the urban component is far bigger then shown in Fallout 3, just as Chicago would be scaled down and/or you would only see a small section of it.

Our given area might actually be a pretty good place with two cities only about 45 minutes away from each other and both about the same size. I could see a revamped version of the (east coast version of) NCR vs. Legion where both sides have the same amount of land in the mountainous terrains. Granted, it would never happen because we're too small, but it'd be cool.
Is there any mods that let you skip the DLC and keep all the stuff from them. The DLC was pretty good, but none of it seems to have much replay value.
I want a Fallout game in Seattle, goddammit goddammit goddammit.
With Portland in a DLC. That sure would be weird.
With Portland in a DLC. That sure would be weird.
You mean where the poor hippies live? After hanging out with the rich hippies all day why would I want to go there?

Holy fuck the grenade machine gun wrecks shit I brought it into quarry junction and uh... Lets just say you know you have a great weapon when it turns an alpha deathclaw into a red paste within seconds. Now to find Mercy...
I want a Fallout game in Seattle, goddammit goddammit goddammit.
They'll probably pick some iconic American city for marketing reasons, like New-York or something. I really hope they stay in the west.
Am I the only one who really likes the idea of a game in Boston? It's significant enough of a city with lots of history for a Fallout game, and it leaves the potential for a snowy/wintery wasteland which is something we have yet to see in a Fallout game. And I love snow. I would love to see Portland, though, simply 'cause I live there.

I'm not sure if there'd be enough stuff to make it into a game though, honestly, but that would be really weird to see the town all destroyed and stuff.

And remember: Taste vanilla before you add sprinkles~
The quabbin reservoir is a giant lake out in western MA.
And remember: Taste vanilla before you add sprinkles~
Get out of here stalker.
I wish I could play this game at a decent framerate, I don't know what happened but I guess my computer shit itself and now the game runs like complete shit on medium Any room with a lot of objects in it brings me down to like 2 FPS, fucking Silver Rush
Found some new stuff:
So that gives us another date? "seven zero four two two nine nine" is obviously 7042299, which could easily be 7/04/2299. So either 7th April 2299 or 4th July 2299. Coincidentally, that matches up with one of the numbers on this page: http://thesurvivor2299.com/V137/
I like Boston because I realllly want to fight raiders with southie accents.
