I've been playing through Fallout 1 for the first time, and things were going pretty good, but after getting to the Hub and the boneyard, it's getting a bit frustrating going through all the places separated into several huge areas filled with generic NPCs that I can't tell from the important ones, which I'm not sure are giving me quests or not.

What's the order of the official plugins? The game can get touchy about the official DLC, and once in a while, will be a crashy bitch if they're not loaded in order of release. Also, grab FOMM. It's a far better mod manager than NMM ever hoped to be.

It's just as much a pain in the ass for Skyrim as it is for NV, actually. Just yesterday I was trying to help a buddy update and tweak the body replacer he was using. What would have been a simple, 30 second process in FOMM was a 20 minute ordeal that involved a manual download, manual replacement of files, a lot of googling/looking a description pages, and much swearing. NMM was all but useless for the process. Very annoying.
NMM sucks for anything it's thrown at. Happily you can trick FOMM into working for Skyrim pretty damn easily, so when I get my own copy I won't be forced into NMM.
I'm just wondering, am I the only one who chooses there companions on personalty over there combat skill?
Ugh, got to Sierra Army Depot in FO2 and had none of the requirements to get into the lodes of supplies on Level 2 (Lockpick or Sci). Plus I almost missed some of those inconspicuous wall lockers on the first floor.

I didn't pick any of the companions in FO1 because none of them were really that interesting, and I managed to miss Dogmeat. In FO3 I got Fawkes because he seemed really interesting but his battle lines are among some of the worst incongruities in history, I was hoping he would be saying wise quotes but instead he goes into Super Mutant berserk mode. However, he makes the game extremely easy, at least at normal difficulty. In FO2 I'm planning to get Brutus, and I'm keeping Sulik over someone like Goris because we're tribal bros for life. Have to get rid of Vic soon enough, he's pretty much just there to help me through some repair checks, like in the Depot. It's fun having him around though, he's pretty much your personal lackey with relatively poor aim. I like Cassidy's backstory since he's a grumpy old drunkard so it's fun to terrorize stuff with him.

I choose them solely on that. I'm perfectly capable of handling the combat solo, I don't [i]need[/i] them to be particularly skilled therein. It's nice, but I'll take someone who's funny/nice to be around over a boring combat-oriented brute. Or Boone.

It's a website. It's as easy as uploading a couple of files on a server. One man could do that in 5 minutes, it's not gonna interrupt anyone's Thanksgiving. :v:
