Does that make Black Row OTST some sort of organization employed by or part of Vault-Tec?
Seems like it
I just thought about how the Institution isn't actually really lore rape at all.
Unlike the rest of the wasteland, where the bombs stopped the progression of science and technology, the Institute remained sealed off. Everything could progress normally there, and circuitry and such could shrink to a size small enough that the androids could be built; considering that it wasn't founded after the war, and it was there all along for over two hundred years.
The closest settlement in terms of technology there is by the time 2299 happens is New Vegas, but House was in a sleep mode until the NCR reactivated the dam. He couldn't get around to doing anything worthwhile until the Courier brought the platinum chip.

Are there many people that actually consider the Institute incompatible with established lore?

It may or may not fit in with the style of Fallout. We'll see if the next game actually is centered around the Institution. I've seen plenty of people bash it along with the FO3 super mutants and Enclave since the technology in the series is more Robbie the Robot rather than Bladerunner.
From a logical standpoint it is entirely possible considering we have House and those things in the Big MT.

I've always wanted to see a more "modern" complex or community that sticks out of the shadow of the dilapidated aesthetics of the old retro world, so I have no problem with it personally.
Most interiors in this game are way too big, like finding some shitty metal shack in the middle of nowhere that's actually a massive house sheltering a group of people
Yeah a lot of them are way off.
One of the huge examples is the Lucky 38. Structurally it wouldn't be possible for the elevator to House's pod to exist.
It would be cool to have a tutorial in Vault 119 where you have to escape.
wait.
that sounds alot like Fallout 3 expect EVERYBODY DIES EXPECT YOU.
or maybe you do die and you get turned into an android.
Yuuup! All the item effects(IE Enclave Tesla armor is +10 Energy Weapons, +2STR and -1AGL) are enchantments under the hood. They're even called as much in the GECK. Spells are used partly by the perk system, partly by the scripting engine(Usually when an NPC/player effect is required situationally/without equipping something), and the various weapon effects are also spells. They may not be called as much in-game, and indeed without looking in the GECK there's no way to tell as the abilities granted by apparel/weapons are fairly logical effects, but the spell/enchantment system is still in use in Fallout. If you could add custom animations you could very easily bring spellcasting into the game as the underlying mechanics are still there and still in use. Same holds true for New Vegas. I wouldn't be surprised if it was wholly possible to bring the enchanting system back to life as well, though explaining the necromancy involved in making your CAR set people on fire from a lore standpoint is not an easy task...
It's actually a pretty good idea they had, honestly. Instead of re-coding a system to give item effects they just hid the name from gameplay and used the spell/enchantment system that was already in the engine.
Not sure. I imagine you could make a 'gun' that casts spells, but without the ability to add in custom animations for actions it's nearly impossible to bring spellcasting back as it was in Oblivion. As I said the underlying mechanics are still there and still in use but it's locked away by an asinine engine limitation.
so what you're saying is
fallout literally is oblivion with guns
so what you're saying is

How would anyone doubt this after having played the two though
on the topic of the Pip Boy I wouldn't mind at all if the Pip Boy was more streamlined as a menu
I don't especially like it being on my characters wrist, I prefer in F01-2 where it was a tablet sort of thing

Oh my lord the Nexus is down!
Also, I'm about halfway through another console playtrhgouh, I've got the mods for the New Vegas uncut and such should I drop my current playthrough and start anew?
I'd need to buy the DLC though I guess.

I started playing Skyrim this weekend and everywhere I go, everything I do, I can't help but be reminded that the game runs on almost the same engine as Fallout. It might be newer and smoother and better polished, but the core feels the same.
GUYS I CAN'T DOWNLOAD ANY FURRY PORN IF THE NEXUS IS DOWN
FALLOUT IS RUINED
[editline]2nd December 2013[/editline]
also I don't know if this has ever happened to anyone else but my first Bethsoft game was Fallout 3 since I was a huge fan of the series, but didn't care about fantasy stuff
so I went back to try oblivion (it was still 2008 mind you) and I was just so confused like "ehh what is this shit this is just bad fallout"

Nexus isn't furry porn, it's weird anime/pedophile/inflation central. Furry porn would be Second Life and that junk.

Including the follower AI. ESPECIALLY Serana. It's almost as if Serana is somehow a distant relative of Veronica or something.

it still burns me that the highest rated mods are shit like animated sex and that hideous anime willow companion
when i think mods I think like "cool features that werent in the game but clever people have slipped in" not weird fetishes

Is that a bad thing?
Yes, it's supposed to be Fallout.

Except Veronica had a story and was interesting while Skyrim followers were glorified backpacks

All games have their own weird fetish mods.
Except Veronica had a story and was interesting while Skyrim followers were glorified backpacks
I actaully liked Veronica side-quest story line the most.

In early game they make good meatshields.

Even Half Life 2 has a fetish mod. Fake Factories Cinematic Mod.

Most of them. I have found that J'zargo is pretty damn useful in combat, though. Big, stompy zombie bitch steps out of a coffin, raises a battleaxe, and falls over like a tree on Ax Men. Goddamn hilarious and very convenient. He's basically Skyrim's Boone minus the killstealing. I wouldn't mind porting his furry arse to the Mojave, honestly.

I met her in the trading outpost and then immediately disbanded her because she was annoying.

I liked Lydia because she was really really good at getting hit in the face. As an archer, I needed someone who would get hit in the face for me. Plus she came free for just buying a house, which I wanted anyway.

"What are these strange metal wands people use around here? J'zargo feels quite intimidated by them...but he is still not scared..."
How do you trigger Veronica's quest?
