Ed-E would be my favorite if he didn't play that western music everytime we fought and buzzed around like the worlds loudest bee It's bad enough I have to put up with the NCR soldiers reminding me how more gambling almost makes you wish the legion won't go quietly or some shit without a droning humm
New Morse code on The Survivor site.
CLG BR OTST RPT SUSP ACT NER SL TI 1 VTD 02 N 3 UNWN HUM 03 MIL NW D
Translated by me. [editline]3rd December 2013[/editline] Which apparently they're saying translates out to:
"Calling Black Row outpost, repeat, suspiscious activities near scientific laboratory, The Institute, 1 Vertibird 2 o'clock, 3 unknown humans 3 o'clock, north west direction."
Okay, so that pretty much confirms Black Row is an organization (PMC maybe?) keeping tabs on things. Maybe both Vaults and general interests of Vault-Tec?
In my opinion, I think that the new Fallout games (3 and New Vegas) are better than the old ones. I know a lot of people hold some nostalgia for them but I am tired of people bashing 3 and, to a lesser extent, New Vegas on /v/ because "bethezda sucks!!1!" and they masturbate all over the old games. Don't get me wrong, I still like the older Fallouts (I honestly didn't think I was because I was raised on the Call of Dudebro shooters before I found the glory that was PC) and they are good games, but in general I just think the newer ones are better on the front of gameplay and have more polish. Of course, Bethesda has the advantage of being far bigger than Interplay and they have technology on their side, although generally speaking making games was a bit easier in Interplay's time, and the games are of such drastically different styles that they cannot be compared.
I feel that the newer games are more fun to "play" and explore, but overall 1&2 are more enjoyable as they feel like actual RPGs (to me)
Which apparently they're saying translates out to:
I think I missed something, how did we get Black Row?

What if the wasteland is now controlled by different remnants of pre-war PMC outfits, and they all fight over the US gold reserves? (Ok, I actually don't know how far it is from MIT/the commonwealth/the Institute to Fort Knox, sue me, I'm not american)

He's not from America holy shit cut him some slack, you act like everyone should know where Fort Knox is. I bet if someone from the UK said a place that is commonly known in their country half of us American's wouldn't know jack shit where it is. I for one know the location of every English county.
I've been mulling over all the clues we got from the website, but what if the 899 bodies from vault 119 were used to make the androids? A bit sick and twisted but I feel that is right up fallout's alley.
They had the war for independence so they wouldn't have to learn that crap. I for one know the location of every English county.
I don't even know where all the UK countries are. Heck, I don't even know where all the US states are.

If he took just a little time to google those things, he would've noticed himself that it's kind of not possible, just saying.
Either way, I'm surprised Fort Knox and Massachussetts is actually that close, I guessed they were on opposite coasts.
Either way, having PMCs as some of the factions might be interesting. It certainly would help in avoiding the whole "shit guys we have to make this game recognizable as 'Fallout' so let's rip some factions out of their original context and rearrange them into a new place in a way that canonically makes no sense" problem with Fallout 3, since with original groups you don't have an established backstory to keep in line with.
Either way, I'm surprised Fort Knox and Massachussetts is actually that close, I guessed they were on opposite coasts.
I won't berate you for believing they are on separate coasts because I sincerely doubt that even most American citizens know where Fort Knox is, but you had to know the space between the coasts, right? I mean, "fucking huge" is an understatement. Still, your idea is pretty cool, but I am not sure I want to see more pre-War stuff playing a big role. Fallout has always been about rebuilding and letting the past go, so I was hoping for more post-War factions.
Nice.
Hey, just because they aren't comparable doesn't mean I won't try!
Fallout has always been about rebuilding and letting the past go
We had a whole DLC basically dedicated to that idea, and what did most people do in the end? Either outright cheat or somehow step around the in-game systems so that they could make off with ludicrous amounts of loot. Whenever this discussion comes up in the thread I always see one or two people say they played Dead Money's ending like it was intended, but I see far more people (here and elsewhere) discuss how they jumped the hoops, so to speak. Intentions are fine, but somewhere along the line they're going to be subverted.
They had the war for independence so they wouldn't have to learn that crap. I for one know the location of every English county.
I live in England and even I don't know where most English counties are. I don't even know where my county is.

I didn't like how Fallout 3 portrayed the Brotherhood of Steel as the "good guys" and the Enclave as the "bad guys." In Fallout 2, none of them really cared about the wastelanders but kept to themselves in secret, highly-guarded bases. Yes, the Enclave are more antagonistic but the Brotherhood of Steel didn't help most of civilization and just wanted to preserve ancient technology that were available and still functioning from before the Great War; they stuck to their main agenda otherwise. If Fallout 4 is going to be released and is in development, I pray to god that Bethesda does this right with both factions and that it isn't just the Enclave getting their asses kicked when they have the superiority in flight, weaponry, armour and bases (wtf lone wanderer taking out a base filled with enclave members really.)
I decided to try playing Fallout 1 because it was on sale. I got to Junktown in the night, meandered my way over to the hospital, and got stuck in a dialogue where the only two options resulted in a fight I couldn't win. I sure do miss autosaves.

I doubt they are any more than scattered remnants now.

There are some outposts mentioned in Chicago, but with the dual collapse of the relative central authority of the Enclave I don't see how they could factor in as anything other than six sweaty guys in a shack covered in American flags
I just realized, I finished Fallout 3 like 4 times, but in the 4 walkthrough not even the 50% of the game was explored, in fact, I realized the only DLC I never played was The Pitt. Meanwhile I only finished New Vegas 2 times and both with more of +100 hours played. Well, looks like it's time to use Tale of Two Wastelands.
Does anyone know of some sort of 'companion formation mod' so that when I have more than one companion they don't all follow in a single file line behind me?

It forced you to undertake the decision that the Fallout games present for yourself: let go of the past and bury it with the potential loss, or absorb yourself in it and risk the present. Most players couldn't stand up to the test. Hell, even I dropped some of my inventory to bring a few gold bars back and sold them to basically buy out the Gun Runners, before I promptly killed them all, looted their shit, and sold their wares to their vendor robot. You may pick up 4 or 5 during the main quest but that is hardly close to the amount that New Vegas' crazy ass kudzu plot would weave you into. Even when I started out for Vegas intent on killing Benny, I still got sidetracked for sidequests for well over 40 hours and ended up attacking him in power armor. In Fallout 3, you pretty much just have to wander around until you find shit to do, where as New Vegas connects it all.

This even works to an extent on the "hostage situations."
