Ugh, sorry about that guys, all fixed, thanks for the help
Any patches or essential stuff for Fallout 1, 2, and Tactics before I start?

Sorry I forgot that classic Fallout is the only good Fallout, change is bad unless it's done by developers I approve of, then it's genius
Thanks for strawmanning me and putting words in my mouth. I'll be sure to come to you next time I need a hot epic zinger.

Sorry I should be much more professional when it comes to debates about robots in my 1950's sci-fi video games

Fucked up merge, whoops

No, this applies to you because you're an argumentative dick that can't let things drop and move on
I'm getting near constant crashes every time I load a new worldspace, I assume it's some lighting mod causing it but I've no idea, any help? It'd be much appreciated

Whatever helps you feel superior dude

I don't care about the argument, I enjoy all of the Fallout games I've played for different reasons, you're just really annoying with your assertions that somehow people aren't allowed to discuss things because they're only an opinion.
that somehow people aren't allowed to discuss things because they're only an opinion.
Haha talk about putting words in my mouth holy shit
How about we drop the fucking topic?
Already picked up Fallout 2 and Tactics. I already got Fallout 1 from that one time GOG.com had it for free almost a year ago. Currently downloading Fallout 2 at the moment.
Are there any fixes or patches for Fallout 1 that reduces crashes? I'm getting tired of a crash every 30~ minutes.

Cause you know, that totally explains why people love to talk about Fallout 3/New Vegas and all kinds of mods for both those games. Yeah sure, buddy. Change is just fucking horrible.

OH! I also forgot about Steamtrucks, and Orbital missles.
[editline]11th December 2013[/editline]
Oh dear, more stuff I forgot to add.
Aliens and Alien weaponry. A fucking Eldrtich Obolisk in D.C. Fallout's version of the Necronomicon. Giant shoulder mounted tesla cannons. Shoulder mounted catapults that launch Mini nuclear bombs. People in power armor acting like Knights of olde England. Melted scientists controlling entire armies of supermen. A ghoul turning into a tree.
Seriously I could keep on but I won't. Androids are not a big deal.
My biggest counter to the vacuum tube v. microtransistors arguments: [sp]The Platinum Chip[/sp].

It was a storage medium, it's just a piece of metal.

Still contains a way to power the unit in order to access the information (assuming it's anything like a modern flash drive, granted). May not necessarily be the beefiest of uses for the use of microtransistors, but it would still use them, wouldn't it?

It could be optical or engraved, with a battery in it, it's not really conclusive towards anything.
Valid points. No rebuttal.
The chip's pretty much a magic token really, I don't think it's ever really explained what exactly it is or what's on it?
Computer code that unlocks a part of the Securitron's OS that enables the rockets and more accurate aiming parameters, I think. Basically, think of now-day's first-released DLC where it just enables a certain feature that was already in the game to work?

It's the 2.0 OS for the Securitrons to let them use their advanced weaponry and armour functions
House had it printed the day before the bombs fell, so he was stuck with the 1.0 OS which was buggy and incomplete

I like that House is a lot like real programmers in that his 'finished' 1.0 version was a buggy mess that barely worked and it wasn't until a large update to 2.0 that things actually function properly.

Also his entire system failed critically when the bombs fell if I remember correctly, he was only barely able to get it working and go to sleep
[editline]12th December 2013[/editline]
But yeah that's a great touch, even if it did kinda clash with House being the single smartest programmer who ever lived, or whatever

Being smart has nothing to do with it. He was selling Securitrons before the war (with that healthy stockpile for himself, of course). All he needed was for them to be functional, they move, recognise targets, and shoot. All you really need. Getting that done in time was probably his first concern. Plus he would have been able to sell the 2.0 OS as a upgrade if the war hadn't happened.
Also I'm pretty sure his defence system worked fine, it just wasn't enough to stop all the bombs from detonating.
Apologies if this is late, but 1, 2, and Tactics are all FREE on GOG!

Okay yeah it looks like I'm late, I'll leave it anyway though in case somebody didn't see it. Sorry.
Also I'm pretty sure his defence system worked fine, it just wasn't enough to stop all the bombs from detonating.
Not his defence system, all the other shit like his life support and his network, I do remember him talking about fighting crashes after the bombs fell
"Remember" being the word to notice though, it's a hazy and unreliable memory at best, and I'm fighting too many crashes of my own to go question him about it
And while I'm on the topic of my crashes
I'm getting near constant crashes every time I load a new worldspace, I assume it's some lighting mod causing it but I've no idea, any help? It'd be much appreciated

His life support, defenses, and communications were buggy, crashy, and unreliable because of his main reactor going silent and his smaller backup unable to produce the power to work all the important functions simultaneously. He worked his life support on bare minimum to work the other functions and switch between them as needed like a 4x4 does with it's powertrain.

I always thought that what actually unlocked it was in the computer's in the bunker and the chip was just engraved to with really tiny patterns (made by lasers, which Fallout actually has) that are read by the computer. I didn't think it was a storage device at all.
reading through the fallout bible and seeing all the 'there is no fallout 3, we're not making it' kinda stuff is sort of sad
