Though I doubt bottlecaps would be worth anything in the NCR, they're worth quite a lot in a neutral area where the NCR and the Legion are currently at war.
They aren't! I'm sure there's back-alley shit everywhere, but in the NCR you're only allowed to buy and sell via NCR cash. Outside of the NCR itself, as soon as you get out of their official zone of control, caps show back up. The farther you get from NCR, the more caps are used as currency.
Those are good points (what does Alice Lafferty at CCC have to say on this subject? Most of what I said is what I remembered from conversations with her). Might there be some real-world reasons as well? I don't know what currency Van Buren was going to use, but it might be the case that they couldn't change Beth's bottlecap system in the time available (note that NCR$ and Legion money has multiple denominations, which is not possible in caps), or maybe even a stipulation of Obsidian making the game, for some (marketing) reason.
Actually I'm almost positive it was because of time constraints mixed with engine limitations. Their original intention was to genuinely have 3 separate currencies, with caps providing a bridge between Legion coin and NCR dollars. Instead of being junk items mainly useful for selling for shitty amounts of caps, they were going to be transferable between each other for a fee or loss of value, but also the only way to buy from certain merchants. But sadly they got deadlined into cutting that.
I think that's one of the reasons I love New Vegas so goddamn much Yes I'm a relentless Black Isle fanboy, but also I really love the openness for dicussion Sure it's not like in Mass effect where you see choices play out but still having the idea that you leave the fate of this state in your hands and you get to decide the perfect system of govenrment is such a cool idea for a piece of fiction It's kind of cool learning about yourself what you'd do if you had the power and what others would do For instance, I found out all of my friends chose NCR on their first playthrough. My friends are all losers, apparently, who hate fun. (I chose Mr House.)
I chose NCR because House refused to back off of the Brotherhood, and I wasn't having any of that shit.
How is it bad? I really liked Zeta.
it's literally just aliens and robots over and over again. even the enviroment is repetitive; there's almost nothing but metal corridors. also, i don't think aliens fit in fallout (other than as an easter egg).
Today I used the roleplay mod to start my RP in Freeside. After checking out of the brothel, I quickly made my way over to the Kings' and started G.I. Blues. I reached the fake ambush with Orris, the part with those four men on the ground. Things became a tad awkward when Gordon Freeman, esteemed scientist (with a PhD, no less) of Black Mesa, found out that he could not distinguish between an unconscious person and a dead body.

There were at least 2 items that were said to be created using Alien technology in the Fallout 1/2, which weren't easter eggs. Although i haven't played the games and just saw that on the wiki so i might be wrong.
Can someone who is Nifskope/GECK savvy tell me how to limit blood decals on weapons to certain areas of models and, if it comes down to it, how to just disable them completely. Since I can't model for shit I have to rely on Nifskope and transparency to make weapons, unfortunately the transparent part of the models I used still gets blood decals applied and it looks really fucking weird.
Is there a mod that allows the player to switch between male or female variants of clothing? Because I prefer the female version of the leather armour;
I remember having a mod that had a shitload of armor and one of those armors was a male version of the female leather armor, unfortunately I cannot remember the name and it might be off the nexus.
10 luck is like walk into any casino start playing Blackjack leave when you get kicked out it's not even fun
I started the game with Tell me about not fun.
"We can't stop here, this is Cazador country!"
Thanks for making me want to watch Fear and Loathing again. As well as read the book again. I don't think I ever laughed so hard at a book. Well, with a book. I've laughed plenty at books.
I need to download the RP mods. I always RP the courier and honestly it always bugged me that my man of science doctor had know idea what a "MOJAVE" is and was also working as a mailman.
I just realized something, the player must be a pretty shitty Courier considering he didn't have amnesia but still didn't know where anywhere was, how the hell did he deliver things?
That has always bothered me. It still bothers me. The Courier has no fucking clue what the NCR or the Legion is, and apparently never met Johnson Nash, or knows where Primm is, you know, the fucking headquarters of his business.

Someone help me understand this Wild Wasteland thing? [Dead money] When I first got close to Salida del Sol's gate the Wild Wasteland icon pops up. I looked around and didn't see anything out of the ordinary. did this happen to anyone else?

Kind of like the 'Romanes eunt domus' graffiti on the side of the Fort.

Well Im reinstalling NV wanted to play it again, just looked at my hours and holy god. 2500~ I must really like this game.

They're there for people who've never played Fallout to understand what is happening. How is this so hard to understand?

Sawyer confirmed that. [editline]17th December 2013[/editline] well that's what I get for not scrolling down before replying

They actually become kind of annoying because they're kinda just bullet sponges.
Wanamingos. Crazy design. I remember having a fallout 3 overhaul that had them, I just can't remember which.
as far as i understand, it's pretty unclear whether aliens are canon or not. even if they are, i would've preferred to never actually see them.
Why don't they fit? The Aliens in the game are the stereotypical green men type that appear in sci-fi all the time, they aren't some sort of completely new design. I don't see how they don't fit in. There are at least 3 items that are definitely canon in the game that are said to be based on Alien technology: The psychic nullifier, bio med gel and skynet. There is also a mention of a crashed alien ship called Palandine on a terminal in the Citadel.
Wanamingos. Crazy design. I remember having a fallout 3 overhaul that had them, I just can't remember which.
Mart's Mutant Mod.
-snip-
i'd think aliens would want to investigate the earth if all of a sudden all the life was wiped off of it except for a few atleast, if they were intelligent and existed, but wuteverz
