Sometimes it really depresses me how "Final" New Vegas feels. It really feels like Obsidian knew they can never make another Fallout. I mean, the BoS and the Enclave are basically extinct. Caesar is going to die very soon, and the Legion will fall, and you can literally nuke the NCR ending them, it's not a good feel. [editline]21st December 2013[/editline] I'm starting to think actually NV was totally meant to be the end of Falout wasn;t it
It's about letting go.
It's about letting go.
Begin again, but don't be afraid to let go. Takes an honest heart to say such things. It's kind of what Bethesda did with Fallout 3; they couldn't go back to the California Wastelands of the Core Region due to something about copyright and IP, so they let go and began again in the Capital Wasteland on the East Coast, then Obsidian decided to go a bit closer to home and made New Vegas in the Mojave Wasteland. Time'll tell whether we let go and begin again in Massachusetts; speaking of which, d'you think the Institute will be similar to the Big MT with the whole Science! thing they have going on?
I want post-apoc games in other parts of the world. No offense to americans, it's just that it feels saturated.

I'd be really interested to see the developer's take on how the rest of the world adapted to the destruction.
this mod is annoying now
Even Phil Plait and a few other physicists/astronomers came on board with NV saying that was a fantastic line.
Wait what? When did this happen?
It's about letting go.
That's the other thing I noticed heavily. Each DLC was about letting go of the past. Intentional or not it seriously felt like this was Obsidian's send off to the series
this mod is annoying now
what mod is doing this because i am getting this problem too and i can't figure out which mod it is doing it.
The NPC Fantastic in NV has one of the best quotes in the game: "They asked me how well I understood theoretical physics. I said I had a theoretical degree in physics. They said welcome aboard."
What about the Think Tank? But yes, NV had some of the best quotes in the Fallout series. Aside from the power armor lost in F2.
Wait what? When did this happen?
I saw Phil joke about it on his twitter and posted a screen cap. My Twitter is so clogged there's not much of a chance of me finding it again, though... sorry...

Just started playing Fallout 2. I went through the rat caves under Klamath and got the fuel cell regulator, and I was doing stuff in the Den and I checked my inventory and it was gone. What happened to it? Did one of those shitheel kids nick it?

Anyone have an 'essential' mods for NV or F3 I remember having a few mods which made surviving and other things just better, and more vibrant but I haven't played in years. There was that one companion mod in F3 I liked with actually decent voiced lines, that was pretty cool.

Hey guys, I am a huge fan of Fallout 3 and NV, and I own all the original games. I was looking to play them, but I am not sure what to do with Fallout 1. The colors are all messed up when I start it. Are there any mods or patches I need?
I've got 40 hours in my current playthrough. It's 2282. My journey never ends.
Got a link? That sounds interesting.
It's called the Sydney Companion mod, can't link ATM because of the nexus being overloaded, apparently.
can you please use [ sp ] spoiler tags [ /sp ]
Why didn't you spoilertag the reply? I keep catching myself re-reading the first part of it and it's very difficult to ignore.
When people ask why I prefer NV over 3 it's because of little one off characters like Fantastic or Big Beard. "Wanna know how my beard got so big? Can't tell you. Trade secret."
CRAZY WITH LOW PRICES ON WIND-BRAHMIN!
Uh oh. I think I managed to advance the story a bit too fast (FO1). I'm [sp]in the military base with the vats and stuff, after having Lou slap the shit out of me. I'm stuck in a cell though. Can't science my way out. The gun doesn't seem to do anything. A door panel that I can reach doesn't seem interactable. The other person, in the neighboring cell, has their door open but isn't moving. I'm convinced the game has bugged out on me at that point. [/sp]Did it or am I missing a clue? I'm 40 days to a game over and I am no where close to finding a water chip. I'm about to just grab a walkthrough and dismiss thinking in this game :/ spoiler tags for an old game? :s
You can use lockpick on the door to break out. If you can't, then there is a bug. It's a tough fight from there so I'd load a save from before you were in the base.
[t]http://filesmelt.com/dl/ScreenShot1724.bmp[/t] Aw yeah, had to do a team pose with my companions when Boone decided to wear a Bright Follower's robe and a Legion mask that I stashed on him
why are the females eyes glowing?
Don't you get my hopes up. I would hurt people for an Obsidian L.A Fallout.
I don't think I would. They might as well just make a game about gang wars in Los Angeles or something because by the time Fallout: new Vegas rolls around quite a lot of the Boneyard is rebuilt and fairly industrialized. That is what I hate about 2 and New Vegas compared to 1 and 3. It doesn't feel like there was even a nuclear war. I liked 3's setting the best and didn't think it really "shat on Fallout" like everybody (especially yourself, Mr. Slamfist) seems to think. I mean, the whole BoS become all goody-two-shoes was really, really stupid and didn't even make sense in the context of the game; wouldn't they have preferred to keep the BoS a bunch of assholes considering the DC Wasteland was even nastier and more horrible than the Core Region? It would have gelled better with the rest of the game. However, I feel like the Enclave returning (I think they were actually always in DC at Raven Rock, and that they were simply awaiting something like the purifier to come along either by making it themselves or waiting for someone else to make it) was fine and the super mutants, while contrived, weren't upsetting. I guess I just prefer an actual apocalyptic setting over what essentially amounts to a western with a pretty coat of paint. [editline]22nd December 2013[/editline]
I want post-apoc games in other parts of the world. No offense to americans, it's just that it feels saturated.
The setting doesn't work anywhere else. The whole "crazed McCarthyian US" is what sets it apart from most post-apocalyptic settings. I feel like that is a central part of the games and removing that is essentially removing the "Fallout" part of "Fallout". I mean, I guess a spin-off could work because I am a bit interested in how the rest of the world shaped up, but in the end I feel like the whole point of the games being in the US also has to do with isolation; information and travel have trickled to an all time minimum. An age of war and violence has led us into another Dark Age, much like the previous one before (for those who don't know what I am referring to, due to it not being called this anymore, I am talking about the Early Middle Ages), with bloated superpowers getting too powerful, to wasteful, and bringing the world to ruin. History repeats itself.
That's a fair opinion but it certainly ain't my own. Post Apocalyptic is oen of my favorite settings, and Westerns have always been a favorite of mine as well, so Fallout 2 and NV are like some sort of sweet honeypot of genre love. Call it bias, but hell, it works for me.
