The other way 'round. The power armor was designed before the bombs fell (remember Operation: Anchorage?), and the BoS emerged somewhere around the Big Bang - they were a US military unit that went AWOL (that's estabilished in Fallout 1, if I remember correctly)
I think he means from Bethesda's point of view as they were trying to come up with a new look for the Brotherhood in F3.
I think he means from Bethesda's point of view as they were trying to come up with a new look for the Brotherhood in F3.
Oh. Yeah, that makes sense. Sorry, I haven't really gotten much sleep this night (read: I haven't slept at all :v:) Still, the ginofuckingnormous pauldrons have been around ever since the very first game, and they show up on the US soldiers in the 'keeping peace in newly annexed Canada' part of the opening cutscene, so unless it's meant to evoke the 'knight' image in a very dark, twisted, ironic way, I don't really see it. Or maybe I'm overthinking it. Probably the latter. [editline]30th December 2013[/editline] Oh yeah also NV Complete Edition is on the Steam sale right now for less than ten bucks. Go buy it if you haven't already
you mean you somewhat liked Mothership Zeta??
I feel like I'm one of the few that liked Mothership Zeta. It was just a really damn cool environment to be in, plus the characters were interesting.
I don't get why people harp on that. It's such a minor point in game it can easily be retconned. Unlike where if you attempted to fix the lore in F3 the story wouldn't exist.
If you attempted to fix the lore of Tactics than the whole game most certainly wouldn't exist for the very reason that Tactics fucked up the core lore for he series. And there isn't anything definitely "lore-breaking" in Fallout 3, just a lot of contrived bullshit. The Enclave aren't lore breaking because Raven Rock was not only already built and operational, but John Henry Eden had already made contact prior to the oil rigs destruction. Considering there were still Enclave holdouts after the Oil Rigs destruction and even after Navarro, it is feasible, although once again contrived, that the Enclave could have remaining forces that fled to Raven Rock. The Super Mutants are obviously not the same branch, and once again it is contrived that Vault 87 would get FEV anyways but still not impossible. And of course the Brotherhood, although still contrived, is still a possible scenario and is explained. Nothing directly contradicts lore in Fallout 3 to my knowledge, at least nowhere near to the levels of tactics. Sure, it is contrived and poorly written, but that isn't "lore breaking", just terrible writing. Plus, I would dare to argue Fallout 3 is the most aesthetically consistent of all the Fallout games. I am tired of people going on and on about how Bethesda "raped" the series and it just seems to me like a bit of nostalgia blindness, or at the very least people begrudging change. Yes, it isn't consistent in theme with the rest of the franchise, but there are no major contradictions to my knowledge of Fallout's lore. The Fallout parts of Fallout are fine and dandy, it is just a shift in gameplay.
The big and bulky 50s retro style is important.
Bulky 50's style is important for the stuff that was around before the great war. In the first 2 games all the 'modern' stuff looked like it was ripped from Mad Max, that was what made it so atmospheric. Modern stuff is very basic and utilitarian while the shit you're scavenging from is ostentatious and wasteful. Its supposed to be a contrast between the Old World and the new world. Its not supposed to be all 50's all the time.
Anybody know any lore friendly armor mod packs?
Anybody know any lore friendly armor mod packs?
LPAM, Nivea's Spice Of Life, Why Don't People Check The OP
LPAM, Nivea's Spice Of Life, Why Don't People Check The OP
because the OP doesn't have a clear indication on what is, or what isn't a lore friendly armor pack. It has a list of useful or good mods that suit the preferences of others.

Nexus has gotten almost unbearably slow as of recently. Now shit is simply failing to load, and half the mirrors don't seem to work.
Lots of quicksaves later I escaped Dead Money with all the gold in the vault, now what the fuck do I do, its a very long walk by myself to GRA, even then I don't want to use ALL of it, is there nowhere I can store it?
Lots of quicksaves later I escaped Dead Money with all the gold in the vault, now what the fuck do I do, its a very long walk by myself to GRA, even then I don't want to use ALL of it, is there nowhere I can store it?
equipment locker on the BoS base
you mean you don't have the Long Haul perk? that's how you do it, son!
Lots of quicksaves later I escaped Dead Money with all the gold in the vault, now what the fuck do I do, its a very long walk by myself to GRA, even then I don't want to use ALL of it, is there nowhere I can store it?
shove it all in the bunker you start dead money at and then grab 1 or two and go sell them.
Real men walk all the way to Vegas.
I tcl'd through the latter half of dead money, it just felt like such a chore
I wonder how long it would take anyway for an uninterrupted slow walk to Vegas ingame
probably like an hour from goodsprings if you went up the cazadore, deathclaw filled, fiend guarded, highway instead of going all the way over to the deathclaw guarded powdergang covered highway instead of going all the way around on the "safe" road [editline]30th December 2013[/editline] oh and geckos, lots of geckos
I wonder how long it would take anyway for an uninterrupted slow walk to Vegas ingame
From the abandoned bunker it takes around 30-40 minutes of solid walking. I've done it before.
Hoping to get through Lonesome Road too but it crashed twice and I'm hardly past the start, fuck it then I'll get the riot armor tomorrow I cannot even be bothered to a bunch of bullshit again because I didn't quicksave every 5 steps Gamebryo please die
lonesome road is my lest favorite dlc because sometimes the level design is so fucking cryptic that you just stumble into where you go, owb is my favorite
Lonesome road is pretty straightforward, it is just a road anyway
lonesome road is my lest favorite dlc because sometimes the level design is so fucking cryptic that you just stumble into where you go, owb is my favorite
Um, does it not have map/radar marking?
Um, does it not have map/radar marking?
Nobody really uses the local map since most indoor areas have multiple levels and you're trying to navigate through piles of rubble either way.
Um, does it not have map/radar marking?
i was stuck on the part when you were going to [sp] ulysses' temple[/sp], 2nd to last map, it took ages to find the exact path i had to go on but that's just my experience
Nobody really uses the local map since most indoor areas have multiple levels and you're trying to navigate through piles of rubble either way.
Yeah, but the radar helps me with the "THIS IS THE DOOR TO THE NEXT LEVEL" kind of thing, which really helps me choose a direction to go.
Yeah, but the radar helps me with the "THIS IS THE DOOR TO THE NEXT LEVEL" kind of thing, which really helps me choose a direction to go.
That works most of the time but you'll still end up in a dead end following the marker from time to time and will have to backtrack a bit. [editline]30th December 2013[/editline] It gives you an opportunity to explore, though
so i tried to color the "Gunslinger" perk because i was bored thoughts?
whats with fallout modders and their obsession with trying to make everything really really really dark?
