I think it was said before, but I forgot; what qualities of the combat engine caused it to suck? Was it the spongy nature of enemies, or the overly-narrow FOV, or that your weapon damage started off in the shitter?
all of the above
Just those reasons, or were there more? Was the dual-wielding a factor?
How about the very bland voice acting?
Just those reasons, or were there more? Was the dual-wielding a factor?
there are so many reasons why skyrim's combat is garbage that i discover a new one each time i play it.
Voice-acting likely sucked, but unless you count the Thu'um, voice wasn't a part of the combat engine.
oh yeah, let's not forget dawnguard aka the most railroady bullshit i've played in my entire life
Just those reasons, or were there more? Was the dual-wielding a factor?
duel wielding honestly felt no different to wielding a weapon by itself it was only slightly faster with different animations [editline]11th January 2014[/editline] plus the animations themselves are hilariously terrible sneak up to an enemy with a dagger, and you end up slicing his face instead of his throat
I feel as if they gave Obsidian more time and money for New Vegas, the result would give Skyrim a run for it's money.
I don't know about you, but I already think New Vegas is way better than Skyrim, the only thing Skyrim does better is graphics and dual wielding.
I know it sounds dumb, but all the animations were like, really obviously animations in most games I don't even think of it as an animation when I swing a sword around, but in skyrim it was so obvious I was just walking around, pressing a button that played an animation and blood splattering out of things if they were close enough
hiting an enemy with a melee weapon just doesnt feel like you hit him at all. plus the stealth oh GOD the stealth However fallout does have the hitbox issue so its not just exclusive to skyrim [editline]11th January 2014[/editline] oh fuck I shouldn't forget to mention that companions in Fallout NV actually have personality and backstories [editline]11th January 2014[/editline] All the companions in skyrim are just either "you bought this house and now i have to protect you so take me" or "im a mercenary hire me and lets go" thats it [editline]11th January 2014[/editline] Plus marrying was pretty hyped up when really it doesnt do anything [editline]11th January 2014[/editline] PLUS lets not forget draugr being fucking everywhere I can just think up faults for Skyrim all day
Animation and scale is what I dislike the most All the animations are outdated and the scale of the game is too limited and small, example Vegas being a puny amount of small buildings cut up into smaller sections, they build up this massive glorious city of paradise and when you get there its smaller than the average Call of Duty MP map Also faces, gross
In FNV, the main thing that annoys me is the hideously clunky nature of the engine itself. Guns recoiling before they've even been fired, hitboxes larger than they actually are; and some sort of input lag or stickiness, not sure how to describe it. (I made a post before about how a gun will fire more shots than you intended sometimes if you're using some semi-auto weapons and keep hitting fire, as if it were queuing fire commands when it shouldn't). Then of course there's the animations in general. Skyrim gave it a new coat of paint, but it's still a turd-fuelled engine underneath. I'd love to see Fallout on the Crysis engine, for example; but i'd wager that'd get a cease-and-desist faster than a deathclaw with explosive diarrhoea.
Could be that commands actually are queued. Some games do this.
Is there anything Gamebryo even does good? I like the gore but that could probably be done easily on any engine
Could be that commands actually are queued. Some games do this.
Whatever it is, it's damn annoying. I have to consciously time my clicks to the fire rate of the weapon, else I end up wasting ammo or alerting enemies I didn't want to alert :c
Is there anything Gamebryo even does good?
Pisses people off
Pisses people off
Whats the bets that they are going to use it for Fallout 4 too, the exact same Skyrim version
Could be that commands actually are queued. Some games do this.
Most games that queue commands do it intentionally and only queue one command, maybe two at a stretch. In Gamebryo you can fire three or four times after you've stopped clicking.
We all know that there going to make a fallout 4. When? No one knows, but the question is, is it going to be what we dreamed a fallout game could be? I would like to think so.
Is there anything Gamebryo even does good? I like the gore but that could probably be done easily on any engine
It's really moddable, and pretty easy to work with in general according to what I've heard.
It's really moddable, and pretty easy to work with in general according to what I've heard.
yeah, that's about it bethesda is kinda restricting it though, fo3 and NV had the issue of reload animations, and in skyrim it's apparently really hard to add new animations at all
Is there anything Gamebryo even does good? I like the gore but that could probably be done easily on any engine
Personally I'm not a big fan of gore. I'd prefer MP3-style bulletholes, really.
Personally I'm not a big fan of gore. I'd prefer MP3-style bulletholes, really.
Max Payne had great bullet holes and extreme blood spraying when you unload an entire clip into people but I still like slicing and dicing people and making their entire head explode into 20 different pieces Over the top entrance and exit holes would be amazing, the current ones only do 1 hole and it looks like Half Life 2 bullet wounds
I never had a proper chance to play Fallout 3 until now. Right now I'm doing the main quest storyline, found Dad and I escort him to Rivet City on a proper son and father badass adventure with no fast travel bullshit, along the way we keep encountering a lot robots, wildlife and raiders, Dad runs out of bullets for his revolver and ends up giving knuckle fist sandwich to every hostile he encounters, later on he loots a knife off this raider's corpse, Dad kept going really crazy armed with only a knife, few minutes later we hit somewhere close to Rivet City and he proceeds to run up to this super mutant camp, killed this super mutant brute carrying a minigun which then he grabbed and mowed down the whole encampment and walked it off like nothing ever happened... "It's a dangerous world out there son" this line...this line... Just look at this man's face, it screams murder.
Is there anything Gamebryo even does good? I like the gore but that could probably be done easily on any engine
The TES/FO branch of Gamebryo actually has really good inter-cell/NPC relationship management, aka keeping track of which NPC's are where in teh gameworld at any given time. The dumb about this though is that the engine could have the potential to sport a legitimate reputation system that worked with NPC's telling each other news, which would be great for games but sadly Bethsoft didn't bother implementing it and I don't think Obsidian had either time or money.
Is there anything Gamebryo even does good? I like the gore but that could probably be done easily on any engine
modability and pretty much nothing else.
her RefID in Fallout 3 is 00019fc5. So change the first two zeroes to match the load order for Fallout3.esm maybe?
It didn't work. I have 0C so I changed it like 0C019fc5 didn't work. Just says it doesn't exist. I try to do, player.placeatme 0C019fc5 1
