I eventually had enough of Dead Money's bullshit and tcl'd. I still explored lots and really read into the story, but fuck the annoying ghost people. Most annoying enemy I have ever encountered in a videogame. Seriously, having bullet sponges that can really easily end you in a dlc with very limited ammo supplies? That was a bad call. It essentially made some characters (like my energy weapons nerd) unplayable through the dlc.
I'm surprised at people sometimes, yes the DLC was hard. It was supposed to be. that's the point! And hell it was refreshing to say the very least, the DLC never coddled us and gave clues that weren't too obvious and a great deal of things that most people would miss that let you figure out/aid your situation. I found myself inventing ways of getting past traps or figuring out more efficient ways of killing the Madre Ghosts, or hell not killing them and just finding ways around. Plus it unlike what you say it invites all playing styles, melee, guns and energy weapons.

Tale of Two Wastelands won't let me progress, it doesn't let me shoot the targets so I can't move on, anyone know why?

Does anyone have any idea what the Vault 17 experiment was/could have been?

So here's a question: Are there any decent "zombie apocalypse/invasion" mods for either Fallout 3 or Fallout: New Vegas?
I remember there being a mod for Fallout 3, I think it was Mart's Mutant Mod, where you could get a version which just increased the spawn rates for NPCs, it resulted in a LOT of feral ghouls when I had it installed. This was years ago though, so I have no idea if its even still available.

I completed Lonesome Roads and it felt like some MMO dungeon where I kill mobs all the way until I fight the boss. I thought I would discover ghoul like communities in the divide with people to talk to and fight/join sides, was pretty disappointed. Another problem I had was I felt like I was reading half a story that wasn't really clarified, the fedorable gas mask wearing 90's fashion disaster spoke in pseudo intellectual gibberish and blaming me for things that were indirectly my fault (ever heard of 'don't shoot the messanger' Ulysses?). I found it hard to pay attention to Ulysses, I knew what he was saying but it wouldn't register to me for some reason, he felt really out of context with his rants against factions which didn't make a lot of sense. He kind of repeated himself in different ways, often contradicting himself or just complaining about how much the 8th grade sucks and other such introductory nihilistic philosophy rubbish. In fact, reflecting on it I can't actually remember anything memorable Ulysses said, other than bits and pieces of what he wanted to do and why. His indirect riddle like speaking left me just confused and having to piece things together to work out what the fuck was going on.
Why is the Hunting Rifle so op?

I didn't mind the DLC, it just didn't seem like a thing you'd do.
Wasn't the back story about you accidentally launching a nuke or something? I didn't mind the DLC, it just didn't seem like a thing you'd do.
You're a courier that gives life to a new community that establishes itself in the Divide presumably because you do courier things like delivering messages and trade goods. NCR annexes the place and the Legion try to take it, Ulysses as part of the Legion discovers the place and finally thinks he has a place to call home and leave the Legion. With the ongoing war there, NCR has the courier deliver a package to the divide that is actually a detonator for all the nukes underground in the area that blows the place to shit and creates what it is today. Ulysses blames you for delivering the package and the courier casually forget everything about this, probably because he was shot in the head. But then Ulysses doesn't seem to care you inadvertently committed nuclear genocide (despite saying he did at one point) and then takes inspiration from this accident and wishes to also commit nuclear genocide on the NCR, Legion and New Vegas because aadfffdfwwweddffergregergegjregergjerithrj5weregjregergherhjdkafa. Throughout the DLC he'll complain about your faction you're siding with and hates them because they live in the past but offers no solutions other than nuking them all and hoping for the best in Wasteland Civilization Builder 1.2. Along the way Ulysses will talk about you and your past and generally bring up topics about his stalker fascination with you and how its all your fault, but it isn't, but it is, but it isn't, but it is etc. Then he goes on about changing history, but really I think he just wanted to use nukes because they were there.
Come on guys, dead money wasn't the best dlc ever. It 'challenged' us sure, but with bullshit enemies, annoying game mechanics and linear gameplay (the maps were large but I felt shoehorned into going a certain way by the fog and enemies). I did forget about the holorifle, but I never used that after the end of the dlc. Also, the lack of ammo for it was irritating because when I ran out, my weedy character couldn't do shit. Out of all of the dlc dead money and honest hearts are the worst, that much is un-debatable. Its only real draw for me was that it gave the elijah story an end and the characters introduced throughout.

I cant even finish half of the quests. Ive had a few dozen Ghosts get back up after actually killing them (Decapitation) and crashes galore.
Why is the Hunting Rifle so op?
Like seriously I've annihilated fucking Super Mutants with this goddamned thing.
The enemies weren't really bullshit. They had new weapons and they were treated differently than the default-vanilla enemies, not to mention they were conceptually interesting. It was linear, yeah, but so was Lonesome Road, and even then, both had exploration that allowed players to fully experience the characters and their backstory. The lack of ammo is supposed to create a necessity to play slowly and carefully, and to save and find ammo as much as possible; I personally loved being forced to scavenge around for chips and ammo, made it more challenging than normal NV where I had unlimited ammo and could instant kill enemies. The story and atmosphere and characters were also the best out of all the DLC, and it's definitely the best of the 4. I didn't like OWB and found it repetitive and boring, and the jokes got stale after it started feeling like the DLC dragged on. Not to mention those OP scorpions and the fact that there were only like two new enemies, which were just radscorpions and ghost people with slightly new models/textures. [editline]19th January 2014[/editline] my automerge
Like seriously I've annihilated fucking Super Mutants with this goddamned thing.
imo I think it's only OP if you use it right. I.E aiming for the head, getting the scope, leveling the guns skill, ect. Other than that it seems to do "ok" in terms of fighting.
I just found Dead Money boring, the collars and beeping just felt artificial to make the DLC seem like it was longer than it was. I'm not a fan of DLC's that just involve me going into a new zone, killing endless waves of mobs and then collecting a reward, I want to see new communities and conflicts, not a town full of ghost people and 4 collared slaves.

[editline]20th January[/editline] you don't remember because it was just another delivery job for you. you went through the Divide, delivered the package, then left with no idea of what you'd just done - the nukes only activated after you'd gone. it just goes further to prove to Ulysses that he's wrong, and the way that you so casually destroyed the nation you'd built in a way entirely devoid of meaning is what drove him to rationalize it.
I'm FO3. The ammo is abundant, every super mutant and their grandmother has one, and it stays together really well.
In that case, yeah its OP
I feel like motherfucking Simo Hayha in this now.
It's probably just bullshit. Doesn't /b/ have that disclaimer saying that only a fool would believe what's posted there?
That post does seem like total BS but someone did leak legit Skyrim info before it came out. It was too specific to be a really lucky guess.
The fun fact about Ulysses is that Obsidian couldn't properly face-gen his model, so they used this workaround: His hair is literally a seperate mask and the mesh of his face., similar to the ghoul mask in Fallout 3. Here's what he looks like with the hair and breathing mask removed: Also no facial animation because they covered it up with the mask. with the mask: [t]http://static4.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20111206234340/fallout/images/6/64/Ulysses_profile.jpg[/t] No mask, but hair: [t]http://static3.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20110925022122/fallout/images/e/e2/UlyssesWithoutMask.png[/t]
still one of the biggest disappointments ever going through all of lonesome road to basically talk to a statue
