Yeah, maybe I'm the minority, but I rarely use companions. They die/muck things up too often for my liking.
I just keep them as far as possible from the action, using them only for their perks and as loot mules. [editline]30th January 2014[/editline] If there was a little stealthy robot companion that avoided combat and basically acted as a loot carrier, i'd drop Boone and ED-E faster than a radioactive potato.
ED-E needs a proper passifisct setting, because of his radar perk and the stupid AI he will hunt down and destroy every last red line on the compas
Fuck the BoS. What did they ever do for anybody? Nothing, that's what. All they do is take technology for themselves and then sit in their stupid bunkers to rust. I didn't like energy weapons anyway.
Yo, what the fuck did you say about my high-tech waifus?
I'm pretty sure we were talking about the Mojave, though. There's no canon "The Courier and his companions traveled around and had merry adventures" yet. I'd completely forgotten about Marcus; but then again, anyone who knew what was going on could just say they were tagging along. I never did manage to pull Marcus off of sheriff duty in my playthroughs/didn't have need for them big ol' guns.
your argument is extremely weak. "anyone who knew what was going on could say they were tagging along" like what purpose does that hold? and just because you didnt have him as a companion doesnt mean its canon, in fact, him showing up in the Mojave and saying that he traveled with the Chosen one ESTABLISHED it as canon, just like harold appearing in 3 established him as canon
Anybody know of any NV mods that change or randomizes loot in containers around the world?
Anybody know of any NV mods that change or randomizes loot in containers around the world?
Vanilla NV already (sort of) does that?
NV only does that in unexplored cells, it won't do that on already explored cells i think there is a mod that will repopulate cells once explored
some cells respawn, some containers respawn. Usually npcs respawn with it. If no npcs respawn in an area that you want to reloot, then the loot probably didn't respawn.
i can not think of where that happens though
Are you sure about that? I could've sworn I remember finding the same guns in certain containers in the Primm hotel on several new characters.
Are you sure about that? I could've sworn I remember finding the same guns in certain containers in the Primm hotel on several new characters.
Containers are mostly based off of leveled lists. For example: a container in one place might randomly choose from a selection of pistols based on your level. So if you check that container with multiple characters that are level 1, then you will constantly see the same low level pistols in that container. Returning there as a higher level character might yield different results. Although most of the time some containers are just meant to have specific items in them. [editline]30th January 2014[/editline] I'm not very good at explaining it, but you would have to find a mod that edited almost all of the containers in the game and their leveled lists and possibly causing a whole lotta conflicts.
That's good to know, next playthrough I wont travel in the exact same Primm>Nipton>Novac direction I always go.
With the way New Vegas is set up, that's almost impossible to do unless you want to go to vegas early.
is there a source on this i've actually never heard this before
Just go talk to Marcus or Cass. Dig in their dialog long enough and they make mention of the previous protagonists both having parties.
With the way New Vegas is set up, that's almost impossible to do unless you want to go to vegas early.
not actually too hard, espeacially if you are clever and get victor to wipe out the cazadors on the road out of goodsprings, then you can essentially get to New Vegas without dealing with much else, there are a few deathclaws but only by the mountains, and fiends aren't really a problem until you get right up to new vegas
I've never killed a deathclaw once in New Vegas, and a handful of supermutants, the Damage Threshold just made them not worth trying to fight. Also makes a lot of weapons really useless. Though I've not played in a year so I might be remembering the worst times.

I've even finished all of the Boomer and BoS quests [editline]30th January 2014[/editline]
I've never killed a deathclaw once in New Vegas, and a handful of supermutants, the Damage Threshold just made them not worth trying to fight. Assault carbines chew up deathclaws, as does anything in .308 with AP rounds, grab an anti-mat if you're that far in.
Or you can go north past Sloan and over some cliffs and be at Camp McCarran in 5 minutes.
i always get assraped by deathclaws somewhere between the tiny bridge and the railroad building. i mean i would RATHER take on the powderganger vault, and cazadors and all the fucking fiends than bash my head against a wall getting killed by deathclaws every runthrough

I managed to get to Vegas at level 3 using a StealthBoy from the Goodsprings safe, and bugging out a Deathclaw's AI by jumping on a car.
I regularly get to Vegas at level one with no items. You guys are over complicating it, just stay off the road and climb up the cliffs. If you see super mutants you've gone too far
I once cleared quarry junction right after leaving goodsprings by abusing a glitchy spot where you could hop over the quarry wall, sneaking into one of the buildings then getting a deathclaw stuck on a table and beating him to death with a pipe. Then I finished the rest off with grenade spam and eventually grabbing the fatman and frying the survivors.

So I doubt anyone else noticed this, but I think there are some errors in the Fallout 2 manual, The last 2 pages are "useful information" with tons of unit conversions, but there are errors in the length and weight section. Kilometer's is wrong, as it says 2,500m = 1 kilometer, and kilograms is wrong saying it's 2,080g per kilogram. It also puts grams under weight when it's really mass.
The 90's were a different time maaaan~
Speaking of Fallout 2, does anyone have a spare key or code for it? I forgot about the Gog thing and steam doesn't sell it.
