i dont understand how cats didnt survive those things are hard to catch if they dont want to be caught and a mutant one who knows what it would be able to do.
remember...these were people living in the age of energy, who's to say anybody with horse handling experience even went into a vault or if any horses went into the vault

as for cats, id rather just assume they are around somewhere, and not see the crappy ripped appart cats that bathesda would make
i mean besides chyanne, all the other dogs in the game are missing massive patches of skin
What about pigs? They're basically a rubbish-to-food machine.

Yeah, I agree. Some cats are really fucking stupid and would literally starve if they weren't fed by their human overlords, other cats are borderline feral anyway and would do just fine. I have one of each example in my house. The borderline feral ones, and truly feral ones, would have been able to survive just fine I think.
I wouldn't be surprised if developer laziness is why they brushed off cats. Didn't want to bother making another flavor critter so they just shrugged and said they went extinct shortly after the war.
I believe that's Bethesda's attempt at making them look like they've got mange or something. They definitely look sickly, but more in the ghoul direction than the mangy mutt direction.
And then again that could be Bethesda saying "Hey look ghoulified dogs!". We may never know.
What about pigs? They're basically a rubbish-to-food machine.
I'm not sure. I do remember one terminal in a pre-war farm north of DC mentioning that the only livestock they had that survived the fallout of the Great War was the cattle, becoming what we now know as brahmin. Perhaps the fallout from the bombs killed off enough of them, and their farmers, that people eventually stopped trying to raise them?

Pretty much every major rehaul mod like Project Nevada replaces a lot of the mutant dogs with normal dogs.
I always wondered why birds aren't mutated..
It'd be cool to see an enemy that flies in the sky then swoops down.

Cliff racers but fallout? I could see that.

Horses went extinct before the war even happened, that's why you have those Giddy Up adverts.
Just got to thinking, are horses extinct in Fallout? 'Cause damn being a proper cowboy with a mutant horse would be THE SHIIIIIIT!
Better yet, be a cowboy with the robotic Giddyup Buttercup. Modded for mobility and power, of course.

Pretty sure those were meant to be children's toys. With some modifications, though...
PN's Night vision was great, but i really have not seen a game that does night vision right, they all just do an overlay instead of actually making night vision look like what it should, which is really cool
I'd say I like Opposing Force's nightvision, but that adds black fog where there shouldn't be any to achieve the wanted effect.
if the enclave was singularly made of bearded black men in cowboy hats they would've won

You're going to have to go back in time and make sure his parents meet.
Being neutral is fun!
In fo3 at least.
Blow up megaton since it pays better, then ghoul takeover tenpenny tower with diplomacy.
Go to help the Lincoln slavers and sell them the historic Lincoln shit...they pay like shit and won't let me up the stairs. Me and charon killed them all. Kept my items and sought out the slaves to help them.
Charon is probably my favorite companion as I use a shotgun for the most part too. He's sturdy as fuck too.
Most of those don't seem neutral. That's more of a wild card style being very good and very evil at the same time, neutral would just be taking morally grey decisions all throughout the game.
I've been trying to replay fallout 3 but the weapons are getting to me, think I might need to opt for TTW because I can't stand how utterly poopy Fallout 3's gunplay is. Exploration is still awesome though, a lot of people bitch about the downtown areas but that massive confusing clusterfuck of endless metro stations and city ruins is one of the highlights of the F3 experience for me, honestly I wish the downtown core and metro system was even larger :v:

nope, porting/ripping is for scrubs :P
animal talk
The presence of certain animals over others is mostly explained by the fallout universe making no god damn sense to begin with. In the Fallout 3 collectors edition artbook, it's explained that when designing the wasteland, the team was quickly hit with a pretty big problem : in 200 years, vegetation would have grown back full-speed and pretty much covered everything. The entire DC area would realistically essentially be Oasis. So they quickly had to give up on the realistic approach and just go for something much more fucked than a nuke-ravaged place would actually look like after two centuries.
The presence of certain animals over others is pretty much the result of the same reasoning. If they had followed the same logic for animal life than they did for plant life, then dogs would be extinct, cats would be fucking everywhere, packs of wolves would eat everything and every settlement would have a dozen vultures waiting for corpses to be tossed out.
Also the entire wasteland outside of settlements would be crammed with wildlife. Hell, after two hundred years, most of the animal life would have barely mutated considering radiation isn't hereditary and mutations over two centuries that actually carry over generations (so the ones that don't get you killed) would hardly be visible.
Long story short Fallout makes no sense and there is no way a nuclear wasteland would actually look like that, be it 20 or 200 years after the bombs fell.
Also, don't forget the horned kangaroos.

yeah, we really want this.
I'd imagine they'd be a lot less annoying with a gun that doesn't roll a random chance to hit.
Or they could be worse than Cazadors.
God, fuck cazadors.
Damage, Health, a REALLY STRONG DOT, come in numbers, are fast
Worst thing about honest hearts were them :(

Oh, I meant with neutral karma.
It's the biggest challenge keeping neutral karma.
Gotta do bad and gotta do good, but not too much of either.
I kinda laughed in HH whenever I fought a Giant Cazador. How have the Dead Horses and Sorrows survived with fucking gauntlets and clubs? In fact, how is anything alive in Zion when there are GIANT CAZADORS. This place is a monument to god? Must be a blood throne.
I still remember the first time I fought a Cazador.
"What's that in the distance? Oh, it's just a bunch bugs, probably won't even put a dent in my hea- OH JESUS FUCKING CHRIST GET AWAY FROM ME YOU DEMON SPAWN!"

Thank you based Millenia. I've been wanting this one for a while! Anything else you've been working on?
Basically blame gamebyro and the lolsy way that it would handle shooting horses with guns.
If you're gonna criticize Bethesda and Gamebryo maybe be less stupid when you do it? Because the 2D games existed too and a noticeable lack of horses there too.

But no lol fuck bethesda

I think New Vegas could handle horses just fine, but no one would go through the pain of doing it.

Wouldn't it have been fairly easy for Obsidian given they were in Oblivion?
I mean I understand its not as easy as porting it over or anything, but Id imagine the engines are similar enough that they could still have been implemented if not for story reasons. I mean modders have made drivable cars and flyable vertibirds.
