So I just had a look at FOOK2... ...For what's claiming to be lore friendly, there's alot of lore unfriendly stuff in the files. Mainly how half the armors have been replaced with really bad looking tacticool uniforms. Is there a version I can get without that sort of crap?
Even the first FOOK is lore unfriendly and rather badly done. It's a big mush of randomly found inconsistent models that barely ever fit the universe of fallout. There aren't all that much good weapon/armor compilation that keep a consistent standard of quality and don't break the lore too much. There's always EVE, classic fallout weapons, etc.
As great as it is to have everything look perfectly plausible in the game world, it's nice to just have more sometimes.
You missed the part about the lore-unfriendly bombshell. I don't think skies are going to help much with that.
They're not just skies.
What I didn't like about FOOK is how drastically it changed gameplay. It made huge, sweeping changes to everything, and it felt more like one of those addon compilations on garrysmod.org than it did a coherent mod. I used it for about two weeks, uninstalled it, and never looked back. [editline]11th June 2013[/editline]
They're not just skies.
Well, yeah, there's also the broken hacking interface :v:
I'd atleast keep some of the better looking armors from FOOK2 in a seperate plugin, but FO3 has barely any widely used leveled lists (Excluding slaver clothing for some reason) for me to add the armors to via scripts.
I would have kept a couple things as well...the S&W 500 revolver, explosive entry, oddball items like that. But I couldn't have them without having the entire mod, so I did without. On that note, why has NOBODY made a standalone S&W 500 for New Vegas? You'd think it'd be the first .50 cal they made after the Deagle given the old-west feel of NV coupled with some late-game enemies needing that sort of firepower to bring down, yet I still cannot find one.

FOOK by itself for New Vegas is apparently the second version, but FOOK2 is the first one, made for Fallout 3? New Vegas FOOK is actually rather nice. FOOK2 is just all over the place.

Because it contrasts nicely with the 12.7mm pistol hat Obsidian gave us? Because it gives level 50 wasteland demigods a sidearm suitable to their capabilities? Also I don't want to install an entire weapon pack for a single pistol. My game's already having trouble running as-is, and the root folder is 36 gigs. :v:

Accidentally finished a playthrough without getting Rex a new brain. The dialogue you get during the ending is sad.
Looking at some things online, I think I might try my hand at a custom radio station for New Vegas as a summer project of sorts. That is of course assuming I have the patience to work with the GECK.
Alright guys I need your help. I'm reinstalling New Vegas, wiping the slate clean and getting rid of all the mods I've cobbled together. I plan on using mods to completely overhaul the game without changing the style or soul of the game. I need your recommendations for mods. I don't care if how much they change as long as they fit in the Fallout style. I'm largely asking ecause most "Best New Vegas mods" lists are years out of date and I'm better off asking for advice than looking at 2 year old threads.

I think it's called Camon's pack?). You might also want to check Dragbody's armors out.
Can anyone recommend some weapon mods that A) resemble vanilla weapons B) aren't crude mashups C) aren't synthetic black tacticool carbine crap or, tl;dr something that looks like it's from CoD. D) aren't ye average newbie crap F) are lore-friendly I already have micalov's weapons, Project Nevada and Classic Fallout Weapons.

i swear there was a link in here to a good clothes mod which are lore friendly, if not could someone point me to one?
I never understood that quest, if there's a new brain in Rex's body then it isn't Rex at all. I'm surprised not a single character picks on that.
Maybe the brain is to the cyberdog what RAM is to a computer, and the personality of the dog itself, memories and all, is stored on a hard drive in the cybernetic parts.
I never understood that quest, if there's a new brain in Rex's body then it isn't Rex at all. I'm surprised not a single character picks on that.
Since Rex is a cyberdog I would assume 'Rex' is stored on the computers within the mechanical side. The brain is necessary to provide interface with the biological side as well as boosting processing power. So while the brain may be from another dox, Rex just assimilates it and makes it his own rather than getting transformed into that other dog.

If you take Rey's brain for instance, it mentions how he melds his own memories with that of Rey's.
You can ask Doctor Henry about the procedure and he tells you that the memory's are saved on a hard drive and slowly introduced to the new brain, the "new" personality has the memories of both brains.
But Creation Engine is pretty much GameBryo with updated graphics. Bethesda has really fucked themselves into a stupid corner when they tried to push Gamebryo as much as possible, especially since as a publisher they have access to so many superior engines.
Not engines that work work with persistent open worlds. While you may think GameBryo/Creation is broken and outdated, no game can handle cell based terrain a tenth as well as it. No engine is as easy to work with on a development level, and every single one of their tools has been designed for GameBryo.
By chance, nobody have this mod?
Combine Three Dog's personality with Mr New Vegas' reporting, toss in tools to add our own music, and I'll use it.
I'll try my best, though I like to add a touch of personalization a la Mr New Vegas announcing some songs. Anybody know a way to get the voice effect the same as the radio? Speaking of, I might be able to save myself some time by using RACE as a template. Not looking forward to the abysmal amount of writing this involves. NV's random banter and generic intros for music are already over 30 lines, never mind the actual news stories themselves.
