Okay, I'm getting real confused about what's happening. I found all that bonus shit you get with the smaller DLCs way too strong so I turned the .esm files off to play a new game without them. The items still appear in my inventory regardless. I can shut down every .esm but FalloutNV.esm and those items will still get in my inventory, with the "pack added" message showing up. What the shit ?
The game is hardcoded to load those if they're in the /Data folder. Delete the .esms and they'll stop showing up. Also they're not all that strong. Maybe 10-15% better than the vanilla stuff. I usually just sell them.
Why was the Enclave breaking into Vaults and killing the inhabitants? (I presume that's what they were doing from the intro movie; I've not actually played the game yet) Were they looking for technology or something?

I've found that the best vendor to sell the gold bars to is the Sink CIU in the BigMT. It restocks every four days and has a maximum of like 13000 caps per restock if I remember correctly.
Thinking of doing another FO2 playthrough. Gonna have the FO2 restoration patch going, so any suggestions for a build? I think the OP needs to be updated on the FO2 section, the hi-res patch link leads to an outdated version of the mod, and FO2RP isn't on there. Also i was quite pleasantly surprised to see that the modding community for FO2 is more alive than for FO3. They're shooting the guys at the front to show that if they try anything funny to escape they're gonna get killed, but officially they state that they did it because "they were attempting to fight back".

While he didn't have the necessary amount on hand I bought the left over amount in ammo and then was able to pick-pocket the gold bar back off him. I'd repeat this process every 3 or 4 in-game days when he reset. However it eventually got to the point that he stopped restocking any caps so I turned him in to Lt. Boyd as part of the Dealing with Contreras unmarked quest.

I can't use it because, bizarrely, it makes it almost impossible to save my game at times. Uninstall it and the problem goes away. I can't figure out why since it doesn't modify the savegames at all, but that's what happens. I wouldn't be surprised if it's causing your glitch too.

Probably the best way to pull it off would be to straight-up make a new mesh using bits and pieces of full armor, but that's already really nice.

You could possibly take the super mutant training dummy, resize it slightly and then maybe slap a centurion helmet on it. Though the dummies might have already been wearing helmets so it might not look right.
