I didn't much care for any of the goings on of Point Lookout.
I don't know, I thought that part where you're tripping out on punga was pretty cool. Especially when you wake up afterwards and find out why you saw some of the things you saw.
Just beat Dead Money. The enemies were really annoying and I was getting tired of seeing nothing but red. Time to hoof my rich ass back to New Vegas.

That was cool, but I don't much care for the reason WHY you're going to the Mother Punga plant or any of the other main quest milarky. Personally, I thought they should have extended that Cthulu quest into main quest length and for someone who cares little for Cthulu-type stuff and cosmic horror in general that's saying something.
Point Lookout was my personal favorite mainly because I enjoyed the setting and enemies. The inbred mutant hillbillies in particular really unsettled me and having their hunting parties be as tough as they were (at least when I went through it) made the sudden sound of buckshot and incoherent howling a lot more threatening.
Also I just really loved the double barrel shotgun.

Why weren't the rednecks the main threat anyway?

I WILL NEVER BE CLEAN AGAIN, I WILL NEVER BE CLEAN AGAIN, I WILL NEVER BE CLEAN AGAIN.
Is there no way for the companions in Dead Money to get out? I was kinda hoping I could have them around in the Mojave.

Not unless you get some kind of mod or hack or something.
Speaking of that, is there a way to get companions from the Mojave into DC with TTW?
Motership Zeta is shit and its only good moment is going through the garbage disposal area and find the samurai's sword because it has that cool cutscene where the elevator gets all fucked up and you cling to it with one hand before falling off.
That and talking to Paulson, I guess.
Man, how could would it have been if you could find Paulson in New Vegas ?
Holy crap I didn't even know about the elevator thing.
I actually do wish that the fallout games had more scripted events and set pieces. Not the kinds that lock your view every 2 seconds, but shit like the elevator the floor collapsing in Point Lookout and the presidential train etc where neat and added some variety
I was going to play a female legion assassin on my new character. Then I remembered how they pronounce Caesar :v:
Guess it's gonna be independant with some help from the NCR then

Never go Legion.
I rather liked Zeta. 110% DR shields aside, the ending of it was badass. [sp]I can't think of a single other game I've ever played that let me have enjoyable space combat like that.[/sp]
Why weren't the rednecks the main threat anyway?
They are the main threat. They're hardcoded to do an extra 30 points of damage to the player regardless of weapon and ignoring armor, they're everywhere, they're tough as super mutants(And treated as such under the hood)...they may not have been the star of the main quest but they were the main threat.
Not unless you get some kind of mod or hack or something.

Yeah, hire them then take the train. There's no wall keeping them in Vegas. The companions in DC sucked pretty hard, I never have them in my party, yet I'm usually roaming the DC hellhole with a small army in tow.

I meant why aren't they the main focus of the main quest?

That wouldn't make much sense with how they're portrayed. Technically speaking you're just invading their home-of-over-500-years. Those hillbillies are descended from some of the original settlers that arrived in America in the 1700s. the story wouldn't really fit the rest of the DLC stories/main quest story if you were there to shoot them all in the face.
'Course, with a minor tweak to their AI, you could spin a new main quest regarding protecting them from an invader instead, but that would involve making them by-default friendly(Or at least neutral), giving a few of them dialog, hiring voice actors to act out said dialog, etc etc. It also would have meant re-writing the entire backstory of the DLC, coming up with some other 'hard' enemy to scatter throughout the marshes...

Well, they were openly hostile even before the great war and it's not like the PC has never butted their nose in someone elses business.

I'm guessing this.
So I was digging through my screenshots folder and found that at some point I had done this:

The next time someone tries to convince me that Fallout New Vegas is a Deep And Serious Game For Deep And Serious People, I'm just going to link them this screenshot. And laugh.
I liked the Velvet Curtain quest with the Chinese spy mission in Point Lookout

Somehow I doubt it's +9000Karma to show up and slaughter the native inhabitants of a land for no reason, which is why they're not quest important and open fire on you first given the chance.
Am I the only one to think the legion sucks ass ?
Their "forts" are made out of old rusty metal panels and tents and they use football gear as armors. How does the NCR has so much trouble fighting that ? Just send some dudes with fatmans and the problem is solved.
The faction being inspired by Julius Caesar's legion is ok but the fact that they literally dress, talk and live like them just feels out of place. I just can't take these guys seriously.

Its actually a gameplay limitation to my knowledge. The Legion in actual lore is violent, ferocious, probably hopped up on drugs and are numerous. The NCR too is a bit limited due to gameplay reasons. Their new soldiers are inexperienced and are now beginning to lack basic supplies or even guns and armor and have to procure equipment on sight.
There is only so much, a bunch of newly trained soldiers without enough training and without proper supplies can do, against waves of ferocious drugged up psychopaths raping and maiming all in their path.
A lot of people in the game mention things like this, I know it doesn't help that the actual gameplay isn't like this; but hey, I guess you can only do so much when your game is half unfinished and numerous things need to be removed because 8 year old hardware can't handle it.

the correct answer would be:
"because they are so drugged up on chems they don't feel bullets and cuts.
They are completely fanatical to their leaders and will perform suicide attacks gladly,
and because they destroy morale with every NCR troop they capture spreading propaganda and have a network of spies and infiltrators, it encourages discord in the NCR and their will to fight is sapped before they even load their guns."
and i like to imagine it's because they are NOT idiots.
And they understand metal armour > handegg gear
[t]http://static-1.nexusmods.com/15/mods/130/images/45557-2-1330905349.jpg[/t]
it's why i have this mod, because i see them as an actual threat.
Huh, all I'm seeing in those pictures is a bunch of corpses. And the Legion don't use chems, they're strictly prohibited. They crusified a Khan for drug possession.
The Legion had potential but was wasted in a lot of ways.
Caesar would have been great as either a really fucking nuts guy who actually believes he is Julius Caesar from the roman empire, or some really charismatic guy who knows how to galvanize troops and who took example on the former roman empire on how things worked. Shit, it'd even be a very clever way of referencing italian fascism.
Instead we got sort of a failed mix of post-apocalyptic authority and ancient times inspired craziness. If I was good enough with modding here's what I would do with the legion :
- Make Caesar an actually charismatic presence, who doesn't randomly swear for no reason and who sounds and looks like someone who actually knows what he's doing, rather than some random bald dude who stumbled on sports equipment and who wears a microwave oven on his hand.
- Make all quests up to a certain point be given by Caesar's legates and subordinates, rather than Caesar himself. Why would he randomly expose himself to an immediate potential threat ? Even without weapons, anyone could just rush him and just burst both of his eyes making him blind and useless.
- Make Lanius a proper presence, rather than a badass guy who shows up at the last minute.

What are you talking about? I don't remember [sp]space combat[/sp] in Zeta. I mean, there are a ton of boring hallways that are technically in space, and there's that part where you [sp]zap a bitch[/sp] with the big laser but there was something else, wasn't there?

Eh, I find the Legion icky and nonsensical. I don't see how anyone could think of them as a viable future for the Mojave. It's not built to last.
