One thing Fallout 3 has over Fallout New Vegas is that there's little in the way of exploration to be done around the Mojave compared to DC and the Capital Wasteland.
There are 107 locations to find in Fallout 3, many of which are power switching stations or radio relays which have nothing in them.
New Vegas has 349, many of these are abandoned camps but they at least have some minor loot to grab.
Just compare these maps:
Fallout 3: (The second map has more information)

Which reminds me, I'm going to try FO1 & 2 soon. Is charisma/speech viable in those games?
It is, but unless you're planning on having lots of companions, don't worry about high charisma. Intelligence actually matters more than charisma when giving speech options.

If you have low speech, you flip the Think Tank off for that choice instead.

A bunch of maps
They don't necessarily need loot to find to be interesting or worth visiting. Many of FO3's locations have some kind of story behind them or hints as to why it exists for the player to discover. New Vegas locations make it feel more like a game most of the time, usually it just serves as a way to get more loot. With FO3 though, I visit a lot of locations and get to learn about the story and world and it feels much more immersive than just going in to see what reward is at the end of the "dungeon" in New Vegas case.
So I have about 90,000 caps, 36 gold bars, and around 8,000 units of pre-war money. Man, Tale of Two Wastelands almost makes it too easy. It doesn't help that the sierra madre vending machine can fabricate sugar bombs, which I can then sell to that one ghoul in that one place.
90K? That's it? :v:

Agreed. Personally, I really feel the difference in exploring the vaults in 3 vs. NV. 3's just seem more immersive and a bit more sinister than NV's to me.

Additionally, a lot of the locations in Fallout NV were always in really close proximity to each other, I couldn't go to one location without bumping into another small location a few steps more. My sense for exploration lost some steam when I realized every location in NV was pretty much a dime-a-dozen. It's hard also not to forget that Fallout 3 has some pretty gargantuan underground complexes beneath the surface.

You can talk your entire way through Fallout 1, but I'm not sure about 2, because of [sp]Frank Horrigan[/sp].

Pretty sure you can up to that point at least. [sp]You can, however, reprogram turrets, and convince some soldiers to help with the battle against him though.[/sp]
There's one I really fucking love, it's the one with the guy repeating a distress signal, claiming his kid has a medical condition.
Inside, there's some minor loot and medical miscellanea, some skeletons and the ham radio itself. Curiously missing is the kid's skeleton. That really freaked me out.
I have no clue what you are talking about. Is this the keller family in the national guard?
I have no clue what you are talking about. Is this the keller family in the national guard?
No, one of the morse towers actually broadcasts a distress message from a family stuck in their little shelter saying their child is sick rather than a message in morse code.
I have no clue what you are talking about. Is this the keller family in the national guard?
No, it's a totally different thing.

Oh thanks
I thought I had discovered everything with 300+ hours into my save on fallout 3.
I wish Better New Vegas was compatible with MMUE.
Needed to kill some ants, bit Legion assasins came and did the job for me :v:

I'm still finding new things in New Vegas after 1400 hours.
I'm going to start New Vegas again for some reason.
It's basically universally agreed upon and even insinuated in a few endings (iirc could have been dialogue) that once Ceaser dies the legion will collapse in on itself since the entirety of the legion is essentially following Ceaser himself rather than his ideals.
Curing his tumor or making Arcade his personal physician obviously extends his life but that's really just delaying the inevitable, especially with someone like Lanius next in line to take over.
It'd be really cool to see a Fallout game placed in Denver after the inevitable fall of Caesar. All the factions competing for his old land would be pretty cool.

A grindhouse New Vegas mod would be amazing.
360 user
God dammit
Well use it anyway and just struggle
Why the fuck don't you have it on PC
After beaten Honest Hearts again, I am wondering, which did you choose?
[sp]While my character is good karma and all, I chose to wipe out the White-legs. I thought they wouldn't stop chasing the other tribe, and even then, the other tribe would lose their innocence to the Wasteland. So its better to lose their innocence by defending themselves and sparing the White-legs leader.[/sp]
Also, when F3GOTY is on sale again, I plan on getting it and TTW, to try it.

there's a shovel in the PC, you just have to buy it at chets store, though its increadibly useless

I do have it on PC

Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying Fallout 3 has bad exploration, I've played 30 hours in the last 3 days exploring the game, I'm just saying that New Vegas easily has as much exploration to be done. One of my issues with Fallout 3 is that every point on the map is separate from the others, not just by by being far away but also because nothing from one point affects another point. In New Vegas you find camps being 'attacked' by molerats or cazadores and nearby you'll find a nest where they're coming from. In 3 there are just raiders and animals randomly roaming the wasteland.

Or you can get one for free by the second waterpump in goodsprings.
and the signature weapon mod more than makes up for it.
I do have it on PC
then why do you play 360 when PC version is superior in every way?
After beaten Honest Hearts again, I am wondering, which did you choose?
Your option and for the same reasons.
You'll love it.
then why do you play 360 when PC version is superior in every way?
Because trying to play the PC version on my laptop makes it cry and explode.
