Fallout Series Thread V14: When i entered this thread i was hoping there would be more gambling

Finally, after uncountable crashes on the bridge of mothership zeta, I have emerged back into the wastes, victorious. Now, on to the lonesome road. I want to do it correctly this time, collect all the ED-E upgrades and Ulysses logs and posters and whatnot. I've never gotten all of the stuff before.
Going for a "constantly drunken pissed off russian man that can survive anything, is strong enough to tear a bear in half, but is stupid and slow" build, i'm considering getting the shittest looking clothing in the game and using only that, as well as my only weapon being a Makarov, which i may upgrade to a Tokarev when i reach the 188.
good rant
it can be all condensed to
-poor modeling or porting (the best example of this is the weathered 10mm which is a straight port from FO3 and has the frontsight like an inch taller than the back ones)
-gamebryo
-controller layouts. the game's main audience was console at some point long in the past, so you have to work with those ~20 buttons
-...gamebryo? possibly just laziness or something. maybe it'd have too much potential for shit to bug out and break. doesn't Terrifying Presence scare enemies?
-straight-up bad weapon design
Fallout New Vegas proves that you don't need a decent engine if you have good writing/voices/etc to work with. It's a fun game, but if you start looking at it objectively everything goes to shit
Is it easier to significantly touch up (and work from) existing Fallout models or recreate them entirely from scratch?
Depends really, its almost always easier to start from already finished work, but it depends on what you're doing. My weapon mods for example that are meant to mesh with the game and look like they fit in? I would gain nothing by recreating things that don't need to be recreated.
So really, while having a base to work off of is almost always easier and faster, it comes back down to what you're doing and if you can manipulate those materials well enough to do what you want.
Well i'll be damned, i just discovered i can get around the need for unpacking BSA files simply by copying the base object in the object window and change the values. Gonna remake my HEAT ammo mod, but it's gonna be different, in a good way. For compatibility reasons, i will NOT be adding anything to the game world, so sorry guys, no finding gigantic stacks of missiles for free under Doc Mitch's bed.
Alright, the Tops and Ultra Luxe are now out of cash.
Gotta say, to get those fucking overpriced GRA guns, you almost NEED to get some luck and break some banks.
The GRA guns are like they planned on having the games continue after the ending, using GRA weaponry as an additional level of weapons to get, but dropped the continuing part altogether.

More like a money sink, yet I'm usually too broke to buy them.
Other than Dead Money are there any ways to get a shitload of cash? Never really focused on money.
Well the post-MQ section of fallout/TES games are basically just all about hoarding money.
TTW makes GRA guns actually viable because you play through and entire game worth of content before actually reaching the places that sell them.

Get TTW, use the tons of items-for-money quests in Fallout 3 to fill yourself with dosh.
If you have Broken Steel, cameras are basically the most rewarding items in the wasteland, considering how common the clutter item is and how much the BoS will buy them from you.
There's also those two unmarked quests with a BoS scribe asking for intact books and a ghoul asking for sugar bombs, two resources easily findable in New Vegas (way more than in F3 in fact, especially since there's basically an infinite amount of Sugar Bombs in NV) that you can sell for a lot of cash in Fallout 3.

Collect everything that you can carry, sell it off. You can slowly accumulate money that way.
Go find Legion raid parties/NCR hit squads. Sell their armor and weapons. That'll fetch a decent price.

Even with my fucking treasure chest worth of caps that I've accumulated, I always feel bad giving money to the Gun Runners because I see that neat little 8000 cap figure and I want to cheat them out of it by selling shit to them.
I want to try out TTW, but I think I might fuck it up.
How do you install it again?
I want to try out TTW, but I think I might fuck it up.

It's got its own installer. You let it run (with both FO3 GOTY and FNV GOTY/Ultimate/whatever installed) and it installs for you. It may take fucking forever and/or be extremely processor intensive, so don't plan on using your computer for an hour or two.
I want to try out TTW, but I think I might fuck it up.

You use the installer which basically extracts, repacks and compresses .bsa files from fallout 3 and dumps them in a folder of your choice with a .fomod and a lot of optional files. Then you grab those files or dump them in the data folder of New Vegas, or you use the more recommender alternative of using the fomod provided.
There's a list of additional stuff to do for now (notably installing a list of small patches that you can find on the same page as the rest of the installation instructions) and in the case of a manual install you'll also have to edit your game's ini files.
It doesn't modify the base game in any way apart from that ini change, so if you fuck up, you can just deactivate all mod .esm and revert back to a previous ini version and your game is fixed. Only downside is that the installer takes forever, it took up to 2 hours for me to create all the files.
Ok so step 1 is install Fallout 3, then download and use the installer.

Get two companions, get villified by a faction, fuck up their kill squads and accumulate good armor then sell it anywhere. Or collect everything you find that's weightless and valuable and drop it off as soon as you can (chems and misc shit, mostly)
Well, i finished a very, very early version of my HEAT ammo mod. Already uploaded to the Nexus, so give me some input on what you think needs improving on. Unfortunately i won't be adding custom textures or models, but i may expand this idea.
Here's the nexus page: http://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/55535/?

Go to Sunset Sarsaparilla factory, take as many bottles as you can, and fill them up at The Sink. If no OWB, then you can get asstons of caps from The Fort.
Should I uninstall my New Vegas mods and start a new character once I install TTW?
[editline]12th April 2014[/editline]
Seriously someone tell me if I should uninstall my mods and start a new character or not?
I don't want to fuck this up.

900 empty bottles to 900 Purified Water at 20 caps per Purified Water will bring you a grand total of 18000 caps. The time taken is well worth it if you meet your gambling cap and need more caps.

Ah yes it's that time again for replay of Old World Blues.

Or a habit of stealing everything that isn't nailed down.

Gonna sound like I'm recruiting, but are there any Fallout fans that are decent at modeling who wouldn't mind helping me out?

Well, uh, I had a few snapshots taken in college but they're not the sort of thing I'd put in a portfolio for a professional company but I know how to play to the camera. What did you need?

"i hear the little pitter patter of your wiggly penis feet"
Aww yeah. Installed Fallout New Vegas from scratch + added TTW. Then i added all the mods i think are cool and the patches needed to keep everything from exploding. Got up to 183 or something esp/esm's in fomm. But thanks to some merging my load order is only at 120. And the game is running stable for 3 hours straight!
Jesus fuck that's pretty crazy. My game refuses to load and run properly with more than 80 plugins without TTW and no amount of merged patches or mod cleaning will convince it otherwise.
My only problems are the custom race things from fallout 3.
Yeah that was a problem in Broken Steel. Bethesda forgot how popular mods were for the game when they scripted the initial quest for BS, so they only programmed it for the four races and two genders they put in the game.
The script is pretty easy to edit, though. I, too, run a custom race and have no trouble starting Broken Steel. If you want I'll refresh my memory on how i did it and share the details.
SUCCESS! I have installed Tales of Two Wastelands!
Funny now starting a new character made me do the Fallout 3 prologue, but I suppose it's to be proof that you got it to work.
