I'm not sure why are you asking me to do this since I'm not a graphic designer nor am I planning to be an artist of any sort, but I did it anyway Larger version here You should probably ask someone who has experience. And I know that imgur is bad at keeping image quality but there was no quality to be found here in the first place.
Thanks man! I really like it, you did a good job. Heh, i uploaded that banner(with giving you credit of course) and i instantly got an additional 15 views.
the value of caps is that the hub accepts them. the value of money generally comes from the fact that people believe that it's worth something and that someone will accept it.
We have a global stable economy and still don't have a unique currency, bombs fall, there is no society let alone an economy, people are struggling to survive yet somehow someone came up with the idea of using something which has absolutely no practical use and can be found literally laying around and suddently the entire wasteland rolls with it. No it's still retarded no matter how you look at it In new vegas they at least tried to make it have a little more sense as there's a lot more civilization going on and there isn't a single currency

It's easy to counterfeit NCR money and (to a lesser extent) legion coins. IIRC there's a quest in FONV where you need to destroy a surviving bottlecap press, because it can be used to make lots of counterfeit caps. NCR money can be easily made in massive amounts without overtly specialized tools. Legion coins are a bit different though, they're made of gold and silver, so they have real value, and that also explains their value in the Mojave. Otherwise they'd be as worthless as bottlecaps were in FO2.

-goddamnit zombini- The video needs the moon theme from ducktales.

No it's still retarded no matter how you look at it In new vegas they at least tried to make it have a little more sense as there's a lot more civilization going on and there isn't a single currency
It's not terribly retarded looking at it in Fallout 1. In Fallout 1, the world was a tad bit fresher out of the apocalypse while still seeing some development, and the Hub merchants had an overwhelming hold on trade between settlements. If you look at Fallout 1 on its own, caps make sense as a currency as its backed by the biggest trade organisation in that area. The currency in Fallout 1 wasn't even fiat, it was backed by the water supplies the merchants had. If you were to believe caps were a short term solution only evident in that area, it wouldn't just 'make sense', but it would work completely. This is reinforced in Fallout 2 as the NCR gained power and started phasing out bottle caps in turn for its own currency. So caps work as a currency in the earlier Fallout games. It's not an 'entire wasteland' rolling with it, rather the combined efforts of several settlements and merchants to create a currency to make trade easier. Its when Fallout 3 came along that caps as a currency really got retarded. Without going into the nitpicky details such as why the hell does the other side of the country happen to use the exact same makeshift currency or if this common item is a currency why is it so abundant everywhere and unlooted in most places, the game failed to explain what the hell was backing caps. At least, as far as I know, its not mentioned formally anywhere what makes caps valuable in DC, and if you want to hazard a guess that the pitiful trade routes enforce it, why the hell do places they don't even visit accept it? why is the entirety of DC behind it with no formal settlements outside of Rivet City and Megaton? It seems the only reason New Vegas used caps at all was because it was convenient and already coded in, and hell even then they still introduced more logically sound currencies.
Also I got a random PM from a regular poster on nexus about getting my mods removed for copyright. Not anyone high up, just a regular warning me. Honestly I don't care though, they're my first mods, and I just want people to enjoy them.
They shouldn't take down your Pre-War station, I think the song copyrights should have expired by now. If they want to take it down, find proof that it's not copyright-protected anymore and you'll be fine.
Does anyone here do texture art at all?

Considering that the BoS had an entire chapter set up over there.
It's possible that Hub merchants made contact with the east coast in the time between FO1 and FO3. Considering that the BoS had an entire chapter set up over there.
Possible, but a more likely explanation is that the BoS started the use of caps as they're the only group from the west we know for sure to set up there. But then that's also stupid because the brotherhood had only been set up for 20 odd years, and 180 years is a long time to go without any sort of currency being developed.
Hey, I'm trying to get Fallout 1 and 2 working on my phone, I don't suppose any of you guys know anything about DOSbox turbo? I have no idea what I'm doing.
I was always under the assumption that Tenpenny and Canterbury Commons were the prime backers for caps as a currency in DC since the former is the most wealthiest known man on the East Coast and the other is the prime trading hub of the Capitol wasteland (Or so it's claimed.)

Where can you get Fallout Fixt? The author's dropbox was suspended, and he seems to be at "tech rehab" (with limited internet access) and Bethesda forced him to remove his most recent update. (though he contacted his lawyer)
That wasn't supposed to happen
video games are art

Oh and they're also in limited supply.
Actually the idea of having a currency with no real value in a post apocalyptic wasteland is retarded but it's more of a gameplay necessity
depends, the way the wasteland seems to work, i would think precous metals like brass, copper, and lead would have become currency because you can melt them down and form them into bullets [editline]16th April 2014[/editline] i think the lore reason though has been retconned in that the people in the vaults seemed to have invented the system for bartering in the vaults and it eventually expanded
Why are the companions in TTW so sassy. I walk over an object and my companion flips shit. "HEY WATCH IT". Do NPCs scavenge armor? I know if you shoot a gun out of their hand they'll go for the nearest intact weapon.
Do NPCs scavenge armor? I know if you shoot a gun out of their hand they'll go for the nearest intact weapon.
Yep. And any NPC can easily wear power armor because the game only runs that check on the player
Yep. And any NPC can easily wear power armor because the game only runs that check on the player
I've always found this hilarious, they didn't even try. It's like it's one giant in-joke among everybody in the wasteland that the Coiurer/Lone Wanderer is walking around thinking you need training to put on power armor
i just remembered how every npc in the game give no fuck about corpses [t]http://i.imgur.com/nugY2IC.jpg[/t]
I have a screenshot of a white person with a black persons body. [editline]16th April 2014[/editline]
That's Gambryo for ya.
That's Bethbryo for ya.
Fix'd. Gamebryo by it's self is fine, it's when Bethesda gets hold of it when things go to shit. Just look at Creation, they said it was gonna be better, and in many ways it was, but it still had that old Bethbryo stink to it. It was like taking a beat up piece of shit car, replacing the engine with a slightly more versatile one, and giving it a new coat of paint. Different in many ways, but still is the same old beat up shitpile.

The Enclave still suck.
