Got to agree with that. Mr. New Vegas is a really weak character and on top of that, he feels like just a copy of Three Dog; one of the few things Fallout 3 managed to do right.
Three dog just kinda got old after a while though. There's only so many times you can take him yelling "THREEEEEEE DOGG!!"
I have a serious question, the general consensus I see from people, especially here, is that New Vegas was a better game than 3. So, why did 3 get better reviews scores? I don't get it.
Three dog just kinda got old after a while though. There's only so many times you can take him yelling "THREEEEEEE DOGG!!"
Three Dog has two problems: He talks about the player all the time. He's a massive bleeding heart who sticks with his own ideals. The former issue could easily be solved by giving him more stuff that ISN'T about the player. The main problem there is that when all he talks about is the player, the world ends up feeling alot more flat and uninteresting. Mr. New Vegas was fantastic because he would always talk about a variety of topics in an objective manner, rarely actually talking about the courier. The latter problem is an issue of Bethesda's writing issues causing flaws in what they intended. Three dog openly criticizes the Brotherhood's fight against the Outcasts and often seem to be more obstructive to the Brotherhood's goals - while it seems like they could have used him to spread Brotherhood propaganda to aid their causes, Three dog is too caught up in his own ideals to properly do that. So what happens is that the Brotherhood is stuck with a naive pacifistic activist who preaches about his beliefs as facts every day - sure, he can speak good of the Brotherhood, but he'll flip flop with that. They can't get rid of him either - he's so well known that his disappearance would be incredibly suspicious. Although I'd imagine Bethesda didn't intend that and just wanted him to be goody good mcgoodgood. Hmm.
I have a serious question, the general consensus I see from people, especially here, is that New Vegas was a better game than 3. So, why did 3 get better reviews scores? I don't get it.
I figure its because it was the first of the two games so it was quite impressive New Vegas was often considered just a huge expansion pack for fallout 3 at the start, since to most people it appeared as basically the same
They were both very enjoyable games though, I was by no means disappointed with either of them, even when playing through each of them 3+ times
They are good games, but Skyrim is the most disappointing thing ever. In order to enjoy it I have to ignore the vanilla game.
But that's just a Bethesda induced flaw. They could have simply recorded more lines since Three Dog is a character you will listen to all the time, but they didn't.
Bear in mind that some of his lines were cut or just aren't working properly. Some mods restore those though.
I have a serious question, the general consensus I see from people, especially here, is that New Vegas was a better game than 3. So, why did 3 get better reviews scores? I don't get it.
New Vegas is like a billion times better if you know about some of the old Fallout lore, which reviewers just don't really have the time for these days. also Fo3 had a more interesting setting, which is much more immediately obvious to a first-time player than its shitty awful writing
I'm sure by Fall 2015 they'll cut the PS3 and 360 out of the equation, I mean that's like two entire years of development.
To be honest I think that part just makes it seem so obviously fake. It would be a massive waste of money to produce more games on the last gen consoles. One of the last big games for the gameboy barely got any sales due to that same effect.
So did anyone else just say "Fuck it, my courier is the same as my Lone Wanderer" and went with that?
So did anyone else just say "Fuck it, my courier is the same as my Lone Wanderer" and went with that?
Never thought of that, actually.
Does anyone know of a save menu button other then escape, cause my escape button doesn't work anymore.
Got to agree with that. Mr. New Vegas is a really weak character and on top of that, he feels like just a copy of Three Dog; one of the few things Fallout 3 managed to do right.
Mr. New Vegas is based on (and voiced by) Mr. Las Vegas, an actual radio host. While I like Three Dog and his voice actor he got really grating after a while. Especially how he kept blathering on about how great I am. I already know I'm awesome Three Dog, I need to know about other people and events.
But NV did have anti-commies. Everyone who wasn't from the Legion.
The legion was so out of place in NV. It would have been better if the NCR was fighting anarchists or a group of insurgent survivalists, with New Vegas in the middle of it. Even the city of New Vegas is pretty underwhelming. It's supposed to be the core of the game, but somehow the story is more focused on hoover dam for some reason. By the way, if you want good mods for fallout or the TES series, go on . It's dedicated to translating mods into French, but if you download them you can find the source for the original (sometimes indicated right in the online description). It's a good way to have an initial selection of mods. Most of them are pretty good, and easy to find in English right on the nexus. There is also a mod for FO3 that replaces the worldspace into a giant desert, that doesn't exist anymore on the nexus. It's pretty awesome.
Is there a reason that the Presidential Suite in the Lucky 38 is so dark? Is there a lightswitch somewhere and I'm just too dumb to see it?
Is there a reason that the Presidential Suite in the Lucky 38 is so dark? Is there a lightswitch somewhere and I'm just too dumb to see it?
No the lighting is terrible by default however there is probably some mods to fix it
No the lighting is terrible by default however there is probably some mods to fix it
For some reason, it got slightly brighter when I bought all the suite upgrades. Still kinda dark, but at least now I can see.
I just found this random encounter in FO2 for the first time: Made my day.
About Three Dog and Mr. New Vegas. Both of them are nice to listen, but Three Dog is better. Because you can kill him if you're tired of him.
About Three Dog and Mr. New Vegas. Both of them are nice to listen, but Three Dog is better. Because you can kill him if you're tired of him.
After a certain Creepypasta about the radio signal no thanks

Attention to all people involved in my PnP game: I'll be bothering you about this on Steam as well, but I figured I'd post it here just to make sure I get to you all. Assuming he can show up for it, Friday, as in, this Friday, the 21st, will be EAGLE's last game with us before he has to leave. I want everyone there so it can be as spectacular as possible. Please, for the love of the dice gods, show up to the game on Friday! If you can't make it, let me know in advance. "Advance" meaning preferably not the same day as the game, and definitely not two hours or less before it. The game will be usual time unless otherwise stated, and if EAGLE shows up but the rest of you don't, I will be quite cross with you to say the least. I'm sure you're all aware how much I like my nerfhammer. And now, for anybody INTERESTED IN PLAYING the PnP, add me on Steam. It's that little icon under my avatar, in case you weren't aware. I can't guarantee that anything will come of it, but if I ever have an availability in the party, need a sub, or would like another player for a special and temporary circumstance, I'll message one of you, give you a rundown of the basics and what you'll need to know, then have you on board. I may occasionally want to bounce ideas off you which I can't do to my players for spoiler reasons, as well. Game times are ordinarily Saturday at 8pm EST. If you're ever interested in just spectating, join the AppynP group on my Steam page and enter the group chat at the time I mentioned. And in other news, I'm at some point going to start translating our logs into a cohesive and easy to ready story format, with more descriptions and events and things that get cut out of the PnP from disinterest or time, but which would add a lot more context and detail. In essence, it'll be a fan fiction :v: Would anybody actually read that? I know before I started playing and GMing PnP games, the logs of the old group seemed massive and were somewhat of a chore to read from the odd and crammed formatting of copy-pasting a Steam chat, so translating it into story format would make it much more sensible, cohesive, and easy on the eyes.
Buggy launch and short sighted critics.
New Vegas wasn't exactly as advertised as FO3, either. Marketing wise, it really looked like a quick cash-in on the success of fallout 3, and a lot of people saw it that way. So at first a lot of people didn't buy it because they believed it pretty much was like modern warfare 2, a tacked in shitty sequel to a good game. It's really just Bethesda's fault for not advertising the game right. [editline]19th June 2013[/editline]
I just found this random encounter in FO2 for the first time: Made my day.
The best easter egg in fallout 2 is [sp]going back in the past and fucking up the water chip from vault 13, triggering the rest of the events of the series[/sp]
What does New Vegas Nexus and kindergarten have in common? See those "custom weapon mods" which are actually just terrible vanilla weapons with slightly different stats and sometimes a mismatched texture? They're kinda like macaroni necklaces; they're overdone and no sane person wants to see them anymore.
And in other news, I'm at some point going to start translating our logs into a cohesive and easy to ready story format, with more descriptions and events and things that get cut out of the PnP from disinterest or time, but which would add a lot more context and detail. Would sure make describing the game to friends easier if I had something I could show 'em that's more comprehensible than a straight up text dump from the Steam chat. Also I'll be there on Friday but I'm probably gonna be acting a lil' bit weird as I haven't been getting much sleep lately. :v: I'm also gonna be pissed if EAGLE doesn't show (again)
Is there a way to change the menu button from escape to something else?
Is there a way to change the menu button from escape to something else?
You probably have to get some 3rd party macro software or something.
Is there a way to change the menu button from escape to something else?
Plug in a 360 pad and press B? :v:
I wish there was a way to remap the F1, F2 and F3 keys, which are used to open the three main tabs of the pipboy directly. Having a shortcut to pen the map in a more convenient place than F3 would be great.
Plug in a 360 pad and press B? :v:
No, as in the save menu. My escape button is all fucked up.
No, as in the save menu.
