-looks fuckin terrible- Anyway else I could improve my overall look further? I got my ENB to use 4x SMAA and it is more efficient and better looking than New Vegas' own Antialiasing.
You can start by removing that awful ENB filter and to get SMAA you can use the standalone injector.
Fallout's nukes are definitely plutonium implosion style bombs (though honestly that's just based on the in-game model; I'm sure Bethesda or Obsidian never said nor cared). Megaton nuke: [t]http://img1.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20120614163603/fallout/images/thumb/3/3f/The_Atom.jpg/640px-The_Atom.jpg[/t] Fat Man implosion bomb: [t]http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/c/c2/Fat_man.jpg[/t] As you can see they're more or less an exact match; you can definitely tell what the Megaton's nuke is based on.
it's also the most generic 'nuke' ever and if you asked someone to draw/model a nuke from what they thought one looked like 99% of people would draw something similar to that one
it's also the most generic 'nuke' ever and if you asked someone to draw/model a nuke from what they thought one looked like 99% of people would draw something similar to that one
and you gotta consider technology has been geared towards innovating and designing nukes for over a century in the Fallout universe, so the ones used in 2077 would almost definitely function way differently than anything we've ever built. plus you know the fact that Fallout's science clearly functions much differently
Fallout's nukes are definitely plutonium implosion style bombs (though honestly that's just based on the in-game model; I'm sure Bethesda or Obsidian never said nor cared).
i don't think thats a fair estimate though, we have no clue what the full nuclear ordinance looked like, just the vague examples like those that have fallen on the ground in places, the fat-man is definitely an implosion type bomb because you can't make gun-method devices that small.
If you mean the real-world Fat Man, it was larger than Little Boy. If you mean in the game, it's designed off of the W45 (I think that was the warhead, anyways) from the Davy Crockett. But the U.S. did design a few warheads of slightly larger design using the gun method in use for field artillery (W9 fired from Atomic Annie was a 280mm cannon round, the W19 was a 280mm cannon round detonated several times, and the W33 was a 203mm cannon round which was test detonated twice and is only twice the width of the W45 from the Davy Crocket). [editline]26th April 2014[/editline]
BUT There are more tratitional "ICBM" nukes in the Lonesome Road DLC story for New Vegas Any info on those?
Probably no a very canon answer, but I always assumed the U.S. kept secret stashes of V2-style rockets with small warheads on board like the U.S. was rumored to have done during the Cold War. But, again, just a hunch. Not actually anything with canon backup. Speaking of canon, someone mentioned the warheads being salted to heavily irradiate the wasteland after detonation, and I thought in FO3 in the bunker you get the T-51b there was a console which confirmed most of the Chinese warheads were like that to reduce damage, but keep the U.S. from populating again in key areas.
Salting nukes? Pardon?
Salting nukes? Pardon?
I'm assuming that they literally put salt inside the nukes to lessen the effects of nuclear fallout.
You can start by removing that awful ENB filter and to get SMAA you can use the standalone injector.
Just a question zombini, do you hate ENB filters or just mine?
I'm assuming that they literally put salt inside the nukes to lessen the effects of nuclear fallout.
Someone tell me how the hell that works? :v:
Someone tell me how the hell that works? :v:
Iodize salt actually removes radioactivity, that's why you take iodine tablets when you work at nuclear plants.
Iodize salt actually removes radioactivity, that's why you take iodine tablets when you work at nuclear plants.
I see, all you had to say was "Iodine". It's basically our Rad-X really.
I see, all you had to say was "Iodine". It's basically our Rad-X really.
I think he's talking about "salting", which is pretty much making the tamper and casing of a nuke out of Cobalt. Upon exposure to neutrons, a common isotope of cobalt is transmuted into Cobalt-60, which emits a fuckton of gamma radiation for several years. Such a device has been called a real world "Doomsday device", since setting off 30-40 can kill all multi-cellular life on earth. Also to Original User, i absolutely fucking hate ENB, not only does it force you to use post-processing based Anti-aliasing, nobody can ever make a properly configured preset that doesn't look like total SHIT.
Salting nukes? Pardon?
Salting. The process of razing the habitable zone of a city or region by destroying the region's ability to grow. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Salting_the_earth
go easy on 'em this time guys, fill the nukes with rad-x
Wouldn't it be cool if you pried open the bomb in Megaton and inside you found a lifetime's worth of Rad-X like [t]http://25.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_mah7e913vG1qj8quko1_500.png[/t] just all over the detonator. Or enough drugs to replace the ones you stole from Leo Stahl. Or even better, you don't believe a live atomic bomb would sit around for two centuries, so instead of fixing anything, you just fuck around for a few seconds at the bomb and say you did it. Or even best, a firefight breaks loose, Jericho and Lucas shoot the bomb and sewage pours out. By the way, everyone should have watched Dr. Strangelove by now.
alright, i dont have enb how would i go about setting one up, and what would a good prefix look like? (for a general idea of color, i liked the orange tint of fnv before i installed NS and play colorful games like project diva or games with emphasis on certain colors

People seem to forget that the bomb in Megaton isn't an American design, the Chinese could very well have been far behind in nuclear technology while making up for it with volume. It is usually assumed that while America became irradiated to shit China was turned into a fiery crater.

Basically you'd stay in the same state as the baby in FO3 except your viewpoint is way lower because you play as a cockroach.
As interesting it is to think of Fallout in other countries, I feel like the US culture is just part of the Fallout theme.
Didnt a dev once talk about wanting to make a game about the resource wars in Europe?
Mothership Zeta really made Fallout in Europe interesting as fuck [sp]You go to Moscow to meet the surviving government and most of the city is intact, and apparantly there's a French art group living in the Louvre, and a war in Germany between Knights and Nazis.[/sp] I would so pay for that.
As interesting it is to think of Fallout in other countries, I feel like the US culture is just part of the Fallout theme.
That always gets brought up as an excuse, and I always feel that it's strongly bullshit. Americentrism is boring as fuck. Fallout involved a global catastrophe, and what's more, it's not as if America was the only country with unique culture in the 50s.
Didnt a dev once talk about wanting to make a game about the resource wars in Europe?
They wanted to make a game where you played as an English tank crew who had to make their way from Italy back to England at the height of the resource wars.

We're talking about the aliens DLC for FO3, right?
That always gets brought up as an excuse, and I always feel that it's strongly bullshit. Americentrism is boring as fuck.
This line of reasoning always reeks of "please make fallout take place in X country that I am from" Fallout is about post apocalypse Americana, and the US is one hell of a big country, lots of interesting locales that haven't been touched down on. The US and China are the two main focal points of the fallout universe, it would not be worthwhile to make it take place in a thematic backwater like canada, uk or europe when there are still goldmines like chicago, florida/deep south, new york, etc.
I don't remember that in MZ at all. We're talking about the aliens DLC for FO3, right?
He meant to say Mothership Zeta Crew, which makes it not actually Canon, but still sounds cool. The Russian General tells you about it if you ask him certain questions.

English Countryside littered with Mutants. Or Super Mutants with Cockney accents!
Didnt a dev once talk about wanting to make a game about the resource wars in Europe?
Fallout Floor. Imagine it, KF gameplay, Fallout weapons, the characters falloutized, fallout enemies, and the end boss is Frank Horrigan. Also you keep the same voice actors and roughly the same lines but updated to fit the new theme. Fucking do it, TripWire, i will pay all the money in the world for it.
