New Vegas does crash, but for me its just alt + f4 to get out of it. Also, guys, i have merged a lots of esp's, can i merge esm files the same way? And can i merge an esm with an esp? And if i do, should it then stay as an esm or an esp? Got a link to the last 2?
Don't merge ESMs with anything ever
I've played over 90 hours one my last character with only one crash and I can thank the New Vegas anti crash mod (NVAC) for that. I highly recommend it if you experience crashes or lockups like you describe. Also install the unofficial patch and the stutter remover.
...Ironically, I get CTDs on startup whenever I use NVAC... :/ I must fail at Gamebryo.
Someone just made a phone mod. http://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/55678/?
How is it that Fallout 3, completely unmodded, no enb, somehow manages to crash MORE frequently than New Vegas, using TTW, with enb, packed to the brim with mods, etc.. It's seriously a wonder of science how Bethesda managed to achieve Fallout 3's level of crashiness
fallout 3 only crashes if i alt tab, i found out opening console then alt tabbing causes it to crash a lot less on alt tab as well.

Are we talking about fallout 3 crashing and shit in win7? *sneeze*
After playing for a while this appears [t]http://oi49.tinypic.com/34qpsnr.jpg[/t], and I can not do anything, no keys like capslock light up on my keyboard, ctrl alt del, alt tab, alt f4 and other ones I probably don't know, do not work. That isn't my picture but it is basically the same thing. I have an i5 3570k ivy Bridge CPU, a Sapphire ATi Radeon 7870 HD GHz Edition Graphics card, 8 Gigs of ram and I am running Windows 7. I also haven't tested it with other games yet, but I've played a lot of games since I got my Graphics Card 2 weeks ago and this never happened. Also the CPU temps goes between 60c and 65c, which in speccy is usually "Orange", I guess it means starting to warm, the CPU can go till 80c before hitting "Red", which I guess it means, burning up. My graphics card can go to 70c before hitting "Orange" in speccy, but I yet to see that happen, usually stays around 40c-60c. I am posting this here and in the Technical support subform, if anyone else gets this please let me know.
I did a little reading about the Followers of the Apocalypse, apparently they're about educating people in addition to providing medical assistance. Do you guys think they would be able to train anybody in forensic sciences?
Has New Vegas ever crashed for you and doesn't allow you to do anything like alt f4, ctrl alt del, alt tab and such?
If Ctrl-Alt-Del isn't working I'd look into seeing if the OS itself is having some sort of problem, as Windows doesn't allow for other programs to even realize that key sequence was hit, nor should it really be allowing a user-level program (like NV) to be poking anything that would cause OS-level shit (Ctrl-Alt-Del) to not work.
At a first guess, I'd say your CPU is probably overheating.
Farcry 3 Blood Dragon went higher in CPU Temps than FO:NV, and FC3:BD never had the problem.
Used to work in a computer shop and the problems you describe are hard lockups, probably caused by your computer and not so much New Vegas. Big fat chance your windows installation is messed up, you have buggy video card drivers or your power supply is either dying or too weak. I would update graphics drivers first since it's the easiest thing that can fix it all. It that doesn't work: 1) Vacuum the whole inside of the PC, especially around the power supply 2) Take out the RAM and blow the dust of and put it back in. If you do it correctly it will automatically lock in place. 3) If 2 does not work, change your power supply. I recommend at least 600W or more if you're going for a cheap power supply 4) Reinstall Windows just to be sure it's not a driver problem

I probably will reinstall some time, it isn't a big worry for me since I don't play games much, not for a long session, and if it happens I'll just reboot. But I will at some point. Also it happened in payday 2.
So who else completely screwed up the Honest Hearts DLC on the first playthrough? My group was getting ambushed and I shot the attackers, after that some other people came running towards me and in the heat of the battle I shot them too, because they looked like the ambushers. After that, all my quests failed and I spent the rest of the DLC killing everything in sight to retrieve a map, to travel back to the Mojave Desert.
Would be cool having a CSI/Dexter like quests series where you work with either followers or the ncr where you have to solve/commit weird murders across the wasteland
...I was actually writing a story I was going to title CSI: New Vegas. I figure there's enough plausibility there to work - the Followers might supply a doctor or forensic investigator, the NCR might be the authority they work with/for, you could have a little inter-faction tension since the Followers and NCR aren't exactly best buds, that kind of stuff.

Been trying to get FO1 and FO2 to work on android. I want to be able to take it with me on my Nexus 7. I've tried using QEMU and DOSBox Turbo, but i can't launch either game. I think i need the original DOS version to do it, but the guide doesn't say if the steam version works or not.
http://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/39655/? It is pretty straight forward. Just be careful about what you merge.
Thanks for that. That FNVEdit is confusing as hell. Will only be merging one or two small things.

Especially if the whole game has a private detective/film noir vibe to it. That would be actually pretty damn awesome.
My brother is doing an anti-Legion playthrough. He quipped how Fallout 4 should have a 4th Reich, lead by Not-Hitler since New Vegas had Not-Caesar. As cliche as fighting Nazis is in gaming now a days, the fact that he equated that since he have Caesar, we should get Hitler made me chuckle a bit. Turns out he got to that equation because he has an extremely black and white outlook on how things are in the game. He just sees them as pure evil with no redeeming features. Mind you I'm no fan of The Legion, but even I don't see their ways that simply.
But that's Fallout 3
But that's Fallout 3
And Fallout 1 and 2 really.
Well, he is the kind of person that refuses to play a game if it looks "old" unless it was something he grew up with, so getting him to play any of the old Fallouts isn't happening. I'll be honest, its been so long since I've actually played Fallout 3 that I don't even remember the bad guy that well. I think it was [sp]An AI that apparently was president that wanted you to spike Project Purity with something that would wipe out most of the population[/sp]. Remembering that, I can't believe I never saw the resemblance to Hitler that was there.
Enclave is a bunch of pitch-black nazis and he's their leader who spreads propaganda all around. Pretty Hitler-like if you'd ask me, even though Hitler probably wouldn't be as stupid. Then again, Caesar is also much dumber than Julius Caesar.

Like, they were complete dicks in 3, but from things like the recruitment posters slapped around and stuff it seems like they changed their plan from "pure genocide" to simply "take over D.C.", and the only reason you get the genocide vibe is because President Eden has his own little sub-plot to kill all the mutants with the modified FEV. Where as in Fallout 2 they are just plain Nazis who want to eradicate everything that isn't them. And despite their hatred for the Wastelanders and mutants, they still use a mutant in their ranks anyways.
Why does having a second monitor help?
You answered your own question ten seconds after asking it.
but ever since I got a second monitor I've found that if I open up task manager on it, I don't have to sign out in order to regain control.
