Did you change back the fonts in the Fallout.ini file?
Now you can control how often Hit Squads come.

Thank fuck, it got annoying getting ambushed every 10 minutes.
They just get too easy and annoying at around level 30, also once you get a decent gun.

Crank it up to Very Hard. They actually are a threat then
[QUOTE=CrucialSeBBi;44833613]Crank it up to Very Hard. They actually are a threat then[/QUOTE]
Everything is a threat when your stats get cranked down a couple of decimal points and their stats are cranked up more than just a couple of decimal points.
Is it just me or are random encounters more dense and hostile on Very Hard?
Like, I started a game of 3 once. I guess I got some karma from not killing Silver, because the very first people I found in the wastes was a bunch of Talon Company. And then the game bugged out and spawned an Enclave soldier on my way to GNR. Then I got Sam Warrick and a bunch of raiders. I managed to shoot a grenade while it was in this one guy's hand and he didn't die. I imagine if I had Broken Steel installed it would be more ridiculous.
[editline]17th May 2014[/editline]
Then I went to Minefield at one point. Sam Warrick wasn't in his perch for some reason. It turns out he was busy fighting half a dozen robots that had spawned just because I was nearby.
[editline]17th May 2014[/editline]
And Super Mutants have way too much HP on Very Hard. I went to the Museum of Technology, since I put points in Sneak rather than Speech. I go through the Planetarium, being sure to put six frag mines at the door. I go into the supply closet where you can turn it off, but it turns out that two mutants spawn no matter what so I don't know why they put that in there if it doesn't matter.
So I hear an explosion and figure they're dead, but not ten seconds later a Brute with an assault rifle and three quarters of his health opens the door. There's no room to backpedal, so I shoot the gun out of his hands, take it, and open up on his face. I have END 10 and small guns at 85. I die from his fists faster than he does from his bullet wounds. Fine.
I reload, take one of each drug, put more mines down, sneak so that I get a critical. He's back with half his health. I kill him by backpedaling with an assault rifle. I look at my ammo; it took me four clips to take him down.
you don't get sneak crits with explosives afaik
[QUOTE=Mellowbloom;44834305]you don't get sneak crits with explosives afaik[/QUOTE]
Actually you do.
It's just that a lot of enemies get alerted by grenades hitting the ground, or by the sound of your weapon firing
I've found you can actually airburst hand grenades to devastating effect, it will fucking level most low-mid tier opponents (throw it really high so it explodes above the heads of your enemies without hitting the ground) you get a sneak attack critical and 100% radius coverage so the explosion doesn't get blocked by obstacles
Is there a mod that allows you to [sp]put your extracted brain from OWB into a Think Tank [/sp] and have them as a companion? Because if not, it is worthy of putting some time into.

I already play on hard with Project Nevada, jwayer mod and realistic headshots.
And plus, higher the difficultly means enemies are more a bullet sponge (which I hate so much)
is there a mod (for either fallout or even fucking TES) that makes it so if you kill the owner(s) of an item, taking it isn't technically "stealing", and their beds are sleepable in?
It's so annoying killing a trader so i can loot his shit, only to get swarmed in "LESS KARMA" messages and not being able to sleep in his bed
like why the fuck does my guy go "yo someone slept here...hes dead now. Shouldn't sleep in it, it's very disrespectful"
It's the honor code of vegas
you may do right by shooting an evil man in the face, but whatever you do don't touch his collection of rusty tin cans
Speaking of karma, is there any mods for NV that actually makes karma have a purpose other than just a message popping up every time you steal or kill a raider / ghoul.

There was a mod called "Owned!" but it isn't in the Nexus anymore.

There was a mod like that for Fallout 3, it was called Owned! and it basically set you as the owner of different properties once you killed the previous owner. It meant you could take their stuff without a karma hit, sleep in their beds, and it had a couple of cool features like taxing the property which gave you some caps every day, and adding a doorbell to owned properties that allowed you to lock and unlock the door.
Unfortunately, it seems like it was taken off the nexus, and I can't find any download links for the most recent version (3.0). It also seems like there isn't any New Vegas version or alternative, which is weird considering how great the idea is.

God damnit :v:
Recently the best decision I've ever made was installing the NV/FO3 sprint mods. There is absolutely nothing as exhilarating as tearing arse from a 50-raider bumblefuck.

I love sprint mods simply because it allows me to move from one piece of cover to another without taking about 20 bullets/lasers in the process. Makes combat feel way more dynamic being able to move around like that.
It's also pretty cool for when you want to play a melee character, especially if the mod allows you to knock your enemies over by charging into them. It changes melee runs from walking at the enemy and soaking all their bullets, trying to swing at them as they backpedal, to charging out from sneaking, knocking them on their arse before they can react, and beating them to a pulp while they struggle to get back up.
I'd love a fallout game with overall more mobility
sliding, moving from cover to cover(thirdperson, like deus ex's would be fucking fun), and sprinting.
The first are 2 are probably very optimistic, but something about being more mobile would be fun. You could even have perks and shit.
Sliding could gain a perk where sliding into someone makes them stunned, Sprinting could gain an ability where if you run into someone it pushes them out of the way), and cover to cover could gain a huge stealth bonus.
Not going to happen, but fuck. Something about DE: HR's stealth system being in a fallout game would be so fun.
Project Nevada has that thing about ramming people.
[editline]18th May 2014[/editline]
But yeah we could finally use an engine upgrade so the game isn't so stiff overall.
I wish for a Fallout game with better gunplay and harder difficulty BUT FAIR! So for example, you don't have to shoot a guy 15 times and he only has to shoot you 3 times.
I want a FO game where guns actually sound like they have power, something like in [url=https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C_7y5RO-_oI]this video[/url] (it's been updated since the video was uploaded so they sound even better)
and where ammo and food is actually scarce, good ambient sounds, there's actually weather such as rain and all that (ex:nevada skies) and no god awful orange / green tint.
Just having a Bethesda game that doesn't control literally exactly the same as Morrowind would be nice

tbh if they're gonna have big ruined metropolises extra mobility is kind of a must. you wanna be thinking vertically and stalking across skyscrapers with a sniper rifle on your back and half a mile of concrete and girders beneath your feet

Imagined if they got a new engine and added climbing.
Like climbing fences like how Mario climbed in Super Mario World.
Also, climbing ladder and shooting off of them like in Metal Gear Solid 4.

You bring up climbing, and I instantly think of an Assassin's Creed-Fallout hybrid where they incorporate a lesser amount of the parkour into the climbing for buildings. It'd be neat, but never be something we see, sadly.
Bethesda can't even make ladders.
imho if they just gave you good jump that's nice to use and had some very competent mappers they could theoretically make it work. it's really all in the setpieces and how they deliver the sense of scale. Spec Ops The Line is a really good example of what i mean, you're constantly made aware of how amazingly fucking high up you are and given this immense sense of scale, and just as you start to forget about it you're always reminded at precisely the scariest moment. and you couldn't even jump in that game.
so imho if they just had you going from rooftop to rooftop and you're doing crazy perilous things all the time, i would be perfectly satisfied. of course you can't really do this on bethybro because there would be a loading screen every two seconds, but let's face it this isn't going to happen anyway.
One of the issues Fallout 3 had was that it tried to be somewhere between and FPS and an RPG and it failed to include the best elements of either. One the one hand, the fighting isn't all that great. On the other, you fight frequently and the story and world are set up to ensure that you do.
[editline]18th May 2014[/editline]
Where it excelled was the exploration/hiking type thing, but then you have the boarded up buildings (why?) and D.C itself doesn't feel very urban.
I'd like to see a fallout game where there is an actual justification to people turning into bullet sponges later on, like they start wearing actual armor rather than have a raider take 10 shots to the face before even flicking a brow.
