Well generally, because of how low key this project is, I was considering just ripping from New Vegas, converting to .obj and then to FBX and importing to Unreal. Already succeeded with a few models, so it's definitely possible, and new work with BP collision drawing means even less work for artists, and I don't think this project will leave FP unless someone decides to go off and make a subreddit about my work without my permission. (as has happened before)
There are a few Nexus mods which just generally improve texture resolution which are pretty pivotal with working in UE4, and I'm sure mod authors wouldn't mind, if they even still work. It's the potential C&D from Bethesda (look at what happened to Morrowblivion) that is putting me off from stealing the assets.
On the other hand, recreating the assets from the Fallout games is a task for a production company and not even Obsidian made many from hand for NV. I couldn't expect that kind of work, even for minor models like stimpacks, so for now, asset theft is the only way to get any sort of content until I can show off progress and entice skilled workers.
Also, unrelated to that, but clothing system is not at all like the original or new games, because I'm doing more skeletal meshes for individual clothing pieces rather than torso + head. The torso itself has 5 layers of skeletal meshes with minimal expense because of decent culling. The NCR Ranger outfit, for example, would be comprised of multiple parts rather than one outfit.
well if it never left this thread, i can't imagine any beth. employee coming in here looking at it and taking it to legal :v:
I recently bought DOS and decided to get into the modding engine (despite shelling out $20/month of UE4 for the last four months) for fun, and realized that the framework there was fantastic for replicating the game feel of the first two Fallout games. I got started with the toolset and have managed to implement most functionality from the early games, (items, skills, armor, stats) and only really need assets. (voice, models, etc.)
Though more importantly than assets is writing, so I was wondering if anyone wanted to live a fantasy and work to write dialogue and quest plots to help me out. Obviously it's just a labor of love, but if anyone is interested, I'd love to have more people involved.
Even if you don't own Divinity, it's not like the writing is dependent on the engine to function, since the writing and quests can obviously translate to any game or engine, (though I prefer the gameplay of the original 2 to the newer games personally, they just need a ton of polish) but with the community already reverse engineering the game to allow for more than 4 player co-op, I felt it would be a really neat idea to give it a go. Alternatively, I could get off my lazy ass and do the same thing in UE4 and that way anyone could play it for free, but the thing that stopped me there is a lack of assets, since I'm not exactly a modeler and ripping from the games isn't a nice thing to do.
I would like to help to on the writing with some areas and/or factions.
Because multiplayer functionality is easier than all hell, and the only limitation is what the host machine can handle, affiliation and faction stuff is going to be sort of similar to FOnline.
The current placeholder functionality is that there is an array of factions that exist in the game. A player can then create a faction (it's just bound to the F key for debugging) and give it a name and description. Each faction has an array of players/characters that have played the game, and a numerical value representing their attitude toward that character. Negative acts decrease the attitude, (if seen by a player of that faction or by an NPC of that faction) while the attitude slowly increases over time. (no other way to increase it right now)
The idea is that you can have the BoS, Enclave, whatever, (the members of those factions as a result) have attitudes towards each player differently, and that players can design their own factions as well. There is no way to 'join' a faction per se, but that'll be added later. The point of this post was just to say that some aspects of factions will be more player designed in-game, rather than pre-written. If anyone has more ideas for faction functionality, I'd be more than glad to add it.

There are so many popular mods on the nexus with assets ripped from Fo3 and other games, it's ridiculous.
The mods will do nothing as long as you don't prance about going "OH HEY THIS IS TOTALLY FROM ANOTHER GAME DONT BAN ME GUYS"
I gave someone my ENB and it looked like this:

I tried to fix it and I never managed to do it. Never again.
It was something on my end that was causing that pretty sure, I installed a shit ton of other ENB's and mods before that.
stop blaming yourself yo, doesn't mean everyone else will have the same problem.

yeah, you should still post it
I would die for that enb
I would live for that ENB.

Count me in, if you want location or quest ideas. Though that depends on the location this is supposed to take place in.
You guys are too nice.

Also, I made this for modded Fallout 3. I can't promise it will look (as) nice in unmodded Fallout 3, or in Fallout New Vegas.
i'll be the idea guy

It's not like I'd ever tell anyone from the nexus I'm making stuff or using their content. Especially not when it's something this small.

it's like fonline with more freedom and less russians
Recommended texture mods?
Also Australian internet so I would prefer something that isn't like 5GB big

The largest size is around 3 or 4GB at most, smallest is under a 1GB.
Has to be my favourite texture mod.

Application load error 5:0000065434 of course.
On a serious note, have you tried the usual suspects? Validating game cache, etc.? Where do you have New Vegas installed?

Thing is, when stuff on the internet gets noticed, it'll hit the news sites quickly for something like this. 'Divine Fallout Online!' will likely gain at least one article.

I'm interested, but I don't feel that I'm qualified to assess the quality of my own writing, so I think that if I do join, you should be very up front about if it's shit or not.

I really want my game to look like this, though I have no idea what ENB version to download since I've never used ENB. Does anyone have a link?

I tried cache, it downloaded 100mb of something but this error still happens; its just installed in the usual steammaps>common>fnv
That's just the .exe launchers though, I can launch it fine from steam
But its still avin a fuckin giggle with me right now

That doesn't look like it installed at all, the 3GB of textures went to adding some text on the main menu and making the loading screen wheel different, that's literally all it did
i can't even find the enb download page now, it just keeps redirecting to this empty page with no links apart from news
where the hell is the nv enb wrapper?

On that empty page you click 'News' and it brings you to the website
Click on News to go to the news page and then hit downloads on the sidebar, it's kinda odd.
Boris was probably rush'n when he was making that website.

Is there a custom palette that you are using?
Is there a custom palette that you are using?
I think so, but its origins have been long forgotten as of today.
The only thing I can do, is invite you to read and maybe download some of the files I've uploaded trying to fix this mess 6 months ago, from this page onward.
Will the cycle ever end? What have I done to anger Saint Boris?
