What about good ol' Verony? She's a punching machine. That and can handle a Gauss Rifle.
if boone wasn't mentally challenged outside of combat i would disagree with this.
i had the 40k mod installed a while back and it was frustrating because the guy who made it had no idea how to package anything properly, so all the textures were broken
What's some good end-game stuff to do before heading off to the dam? I've reached level 50 in my TTW playthrough, and I can't help but feel like I'm forgetting something.

I already did all the dlc, and if by quarry you mean quarry junction, did that too.
Maybe it is time to end this playthrough. I've done a lot.

Got all the Legendary creatures killed? Wiped out the other quarry deathclaw whatever place that's near Bittersprings?

The quarry is only the beginning. The real fight is at the Deathclaw Promontory.
So, I am going to be playing pokemon in Fallout: New Vegas. For my first step i replaced all of my music with songs from pokemon (Yes doc mitchell's song is the pokemon center).
Next, I will be using this mod: http://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/50468/? to control my "pokemon" (random creatures I find)
There is a few rules:
1. You can't attack, only your pokemon are allowed to attack, this is compensated for by being able to control what they do with the mod above. (as well as force hire them)
2. If all your pokemon are knocked unconscious, you must run to the nearest doctor and avoid fighting.
3. You get 3 starter pokemon you find in goodsprings, because this would be impossible without that.
4. After your initial starter pokemon, you must kill a creature without dismembering any limbs then resurrect them and recruit them.
5. Only 6 pokemon at a time.
6. Optional - You must dismiss every pokemon you catch if they are knocked unconscious once.
I have the feeling that this will lead to some ridiculous stuff so I might give progress reports occasionally, my goal is to beat the "champion" at the end, Legate Lanius.
So, what do you guys think?
Oh and I guess the elite 4 could be the 4 DLCs.
I think this is just 'cause Bethesda took the entire postapocalyptic 50s part of the setting and ran with it - if you look at the aesthetic in F1 and F2, it's pretty obviously a bizarre mish-mash of a 50s postapocalypse (giant mutated animals, etc.) and all these 80s postapocalyptic movies - Escape From New York, Mad Max obviously, there's definitely a hint of Blade Runner (yes, Blade Runner is postapocalyptic... sort of), all these low-budget flicks like Equalizer 2000...
Basically what I'm saying is that I'd love to hear some ominous synths on the soundtrack, like this:
Hm, now that I'm thinking about it, it'd make a great radio mod
I prefer the route Bethesda went. The first 2 games (2 especially) were so inconsistent and it was offputting. It felt like Interplay and Black Isle were divided between two groups; those who wanted a retro-futuristic setting, and those that just wanted to make Mad Max.
Say what you will about the rest of it, but Fallout 3's atmosphere is easily the best of the franchise, and that continues to draw me to it even though it is inferior in almost every way to New Vegas. I think the consistent design (although New Vegas is also pretty good at sticking to the retro-future stuff) helps immensely in that regard, and it's what drew me to the franchise to begin with.
Also, I just reinstalled both games, but I couldn't get Fallout 3 to boot with all the mods I threw into it. TTW also fucked itself so I couldn't get it working. New Vegas is running well, but try as I might the game looks ten times shittier than I remember. I have a whole truckload of HD texture packs, but the shaders are all wrong. The ENBs don't seem to have an effect and Dynavision also looks worse than usual.
I think it is a Nevada Skies bug, because turning both of them off reveals that the game is just slightly... off. I think the contrast is borked or something. Any idea what caused this and if there is any fix?
The clash between the 50s retro future and the the 80s style post apocalypse was the entire point. All the functional shit is basic and utilitarian, and all the run down shit is extravagant and gaudy.
The Old World fell to shit because the anti-communist propaganda and pro-capitalist Zeitgeist grew to cultish levels, where being wasteful as a show of wealth was seen as good and anyone who wasn't an ultra capitalist was clearly a Chinese pinko Commie.
The New World has no excess, it barely has enough to survive. The buildings are all brown sandcrete and grey metal because decorations cost too much for people who can barely hold farms together. Of course there are 50s style, gaudy places still around, like New Reno, but that was supposed to be a culture shock, you start FO2 in a primitive, ritualistic tribe, go to a few run down villages which are practically scrap heaps, and then come across what is essentially a shrine to excess and the Old World just sitting in the middle of a wasteland.
Fallout 3 was consistent because it was fucking depressing 95% of the time.

I didn't mean things made after the apocalypse were inconsistent. It makes sense that after the bombs fell, people would start using more utilitarian styles. I mean that there are specifically things left from before the bombs fall in Fallout 2 that are strictly modern; the wide range of modern and/or 80s firearms (although none of them ever saw a lot of production IRL, they did exist) is just one example. Like, I enjoyed the tribal angle that Fallout 2 had because it emphasized cultural regression and humanity returning to its roots, I just mean that the design choices made in that game were often odd and inconsistent.
And people seem to forget that Fallout 1 is hardly the funny, comedic relief-filled romp that Fallout 2 is. It is way darker and more bleak. If anything, Fallout 3 matches Fallout 1 in style way more than 2 does.
Basically, I summed up my feelings on Fallout 2 and the franchise as whole on reddit:
People always talk about how Fallout 3 "doesn't match the spirit of Fallout" but what they really mean is it doesn't match the spirit of Fallout 2. In truth, 3 is more similar in tone to 1 than 2 or New Vegas.
Fallout 2 is good in its own right, but the original game tends to get overshadowed. I liked Fallout 1 and Fallout 2 honestly feels like... like a mod of Fallout 1. People talk about Fallout 3's inconsistencies, but they fail to mention the humongous design inconsistencies in Fallout 2 with things like modern weapons. And that doesn't even get into the overly silly, immersion breaking encounters and easter-eggs.
Fallout 2 may be a good game, but I consider a pretty terrible Fallout game in retrospect. I will agree, Fallout 3 isn't at all a Fallout game either; the gameplay is so vastly different that it couldn't really be Fallout. But I feel like it matches Fallout 1 fairly well thematically, and they both share that desolate, discouraging atmosphere.
And I know I will get boxforted by people saying "Fallout 2 is hardly a comedy, there's genocide and shit" but that just helps my point. The game is inconsistent even on that level, failing to decide whether or not it wants to take itself seriously, so it constantly rebounds from serious to almost parodical. It's just so over the top in every regard in an obvious attempt to trump Fallout 1. The villains go from being guys trying to forcefully convert all of humanity to guys intent on wiping out almost all of the humans left. The levels of douchebaggery many of the characters can reach is just beyond anything in Fallout 1. There is way more comedic relief and silliness as well. Upon reflection, the whole game is just inconsistent as hell and it feels like the odd, middle child of the franchise.

Never heard of that before. Well, it was a fun fight. A few microfusion grenade clusters here and there took care of most of them. There were a few survivors, but my ballistic fist silences all.
Never found a good use for those MFC grenades...
So during a drive through northern Canada I ended up listening to a radio station that would play what I'd assume was a prerecorded message that just repeated "You're listening to (name of station), if you're hearing any static or distortion during our broadcasts lease feel free to give us a call at (number). We'd love to hear from you, and as always enjoy the music!" in between songs.
Something about the upbeat tone of the speakers voice and the knowledge that the message was pre-recorded, possibly looping for months now, had kind of an eerie vibe to it. I think something similar could work really well as a more neutral, almost entirely music exclusive radio station (kinda like the Mojave Music Radio was) in Fallout. Hearing a chipper announcer who is now long dead occasionally chime in between songs and offering a few different lines encouraging listeners to call a telephone number that hasn't been active since the bombs dropped would fit well into the general feeling of antiquity and decay you see in game, with the station sort of acting as a preserved relic of the old world all on its own.
I was playing Fonline 2 and i was geared pretty good. Shotgun, 14mm pistol and bought leather armor mk2. Then some cheekibreeki killed me at the trader.
Fucking hell one of the convicts in Primm had a goddamn Assault Carbine
Why can I never get this game to work right?

Convicts aren't really hard to kill though so you should be able to headshot him from stealth
Does anyone know why i cant build myself a tent in Fonline 2 it just says "You can't build here, thry somewhere else." And i've tried all around the wasteland but no...
has anybody got a link to the body awareness mod?
HOW DID YOU FIX IT
HOW
I'm making progress. In addition to TempExtract error the installer occasionally complained about missing some obscure dll. Upon installing that it asked for another similar dll and I kept feeding it dlls for a while until the extraction process seems to have started successfully.

Perhaps you're looking for this ? http://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/55334/?
Also, has anyone played through most of what "A world of pain" has to offer ? Because I'm curious on how to enter the Reimann's bunker but I have no idea where to obtain the key for it.

The key is on a body in the cave you find the bunker. But the body despawns so you can end up having it just not exist. If you find a Lakelurk and no body near it, the body despawned so you'll have to use the console in that case.
It's a pretty sweet player home type of deal, with a pretty awesome thing inside I will let you find for yourself.
So I went through with the pokemon thing and its been a blast. I took a shit ton of screenshots but none of them saved sadly for some stupid reasone so have this one with me and my team at the moment.
One of them is hiding behind the bighorner though :V

I'm glad I'm not arachnaphobic or else my status as Spider Queen would suck.
[editline]28th August 2014[/editline]
Also, got me one of them Anti-Materiel Rifles which I'll never use because it's like 100 caps a shot in repairs and it does 10x the damage any vanilla enemy has the health of.
I can never take mods like that seriously 'cause they just look weird
If they actually looked like spiders it'd be way worse

Thanks that's what I was looking for
I felt like it was time to end my TTW playthrough, and liberated hoover dam. I'm sorta jealous of lanius's giant anime-tier sword, the blade almost touches the ground when its holstered.
