I don't think it's a good idea plotwise to keep introducing more and more technologically advanced factions to trump the last ones. It's like the Second Foundation trilogy, wherein new characters lead conspiracies, each grander and older than the last. It's like Fallout 2, where everything about the Enclave seems designed to trump the mutants. I guess it seems lazy to one-up everyone. Maybe you should give them advantages other than technology. If they think everyone's ideologies are misguided, maybe their new direction is better. Make their leadership effective and their education and healthcare excellent. Give them some influence over the powers of the Mojave and Core Region, perhaps a monopoly on fishing or as the headquarters of a small religion. Give them the kind of advantages that come from two centuries of peacetime, environmental cleanup expertise, and seafaring. That way they'll be a threat, but one which is plausible in a post-apocalyptic setting.
Yeah, I want the faction to have an advantage but not become the second Enclave. Maybe they have finally developed an alternative to a GECK after recovering data from the Enclave Oil Rig after it was blown up by the Chosen One and field tested it somewhere [near the Divide], and Legion and NCR was watching them test it, right before the missile of the Divide blew up underneath. NCR, Legion, and eventually the Brotherhood want the technology for themselves. They [NCR/Legion spies/California Brotherhood Branch] all sent troops to island after years of reconnaissance and the inhabitants entire island was nearly wiped out but then a three way battle between the NCR, Legion spies, and Brotherhood went underway. No one survived the bloody battle. The remaining survivors would began allocating its efforts towards military recruitment and weapons to ensure this disaster would never happen again. Just an idea though. EDIT:
If they are located on islands it would probably be better to just make their advantage their isolation and strategic location. Heavily fortified borders on islands in the middle of no-where is going to be pretty difficult to invade since no faction has any substantial air force or navy. Doesn't make sense for them to be super advanced if they are isolated so maybe you can have something where the islands had vaults, giving the islanders pre-war knowledge, health care, and some decent equipment to sustain themselves (but not enough to make them a gigantic force).
I thought about it but I doubt the Chinese or USSR would bomb the Midway Atolls. I'll have to use a nuke map to find out though. The Americans would take refugee at this island before the bombs fell, hoping to escape the A-bombs. I check the wika and from the events in the game (e.g Gala Event in the Sierra Madre) suggest citizens weren't aware of when the bombs fell.
The great thing about divergence is that if there are no convenient nuclear targets, you can make some! First off, increased tensions against China may have led to the United States keeping their post-WW2 bases and territories in the Pacific. Second, the US might have needed to protect the Poseidon Oil Rig while it was under construction. Third, there was a time period between the Chinese invasion of Alaska and the American annexation of Canada, during which they may have maintained naval bases to prevent invasion of the mainland. Mariposa, Lost Hills, and Adams Air Force Base are all fictional, so why not another? You can play it either way.

WWII would probably be the major theme of the island, since they might have use the island as a base at one point to prepare for any Japanese attacks. The island might have a couple of WWII-era naval bases, so it would make sense on how they were able to access the California Wasteland. Some of the weapons in New Vegas derived from WWII [9mm SMG, Battle Rifle, .45 Auto, .45 Submachine Gun, Automatic Rifle], but they could have imported weapons from the homeland too.
Hey guys i haven't played fallout 3 in ages and recently returned to it. After some modding the game still ran fine with minimal crashes but lately a new problem has come in. Whenever im entering new locations i almost always crash. I'm making the game run on a single core, i tried turning off a lot of post processing, and i'm pretty sure its not a mod conflict. But can anyone assist me on this? Heres my load order: [t]http://i.imgur.com/uIhW0ma.png[/t] My saves aren't corrupted as the problem persists in brand new games, i do have autosaving off, and like i said its running on one core as well
That ENB/visual effect setup is honestly one of the ugliest examples of Gamebryo I've ever seen.
you've seen vanilla fallout new vegas, right??
you've seen vanilla fallout new vegas, right??
vanilla looks better than that video.
Yeah, that ENB is way too saturated. It looks like garbage to be honest
vanilla looks better than that video.
I'd disagree. I mean, I don't think its even worth discussion - while as far as ENB goes, that ones pretty awful, practically any ENB will look better than vanilla new vegas by virtue of better lighting and shaders.
There are plenty of nice ENB's for sure and vanilla definitely doesn't look that great nowadays on its own, but turning it super saturated like a puddle of video game vomit doesn't really make it look any better

It doesn't pull off this look as nicely in the capital wasteland.
Had an extortion racket with Bob (bobs iguana sticks) in Fallout. I added speech as a new tag skill around level 15 which bumped it up to about 200% It seems you can just keep demanding higher and higher extortions with my insane speech level, he's giving me 20,000 caps every 5 days now. How much fucking iguana does this guy sell

I don't think it'd work very well either way though, it was already too orange in vanilla. that looks like it'd make it way worse

What are some good Fallout 3 mods just re installing this again Last time i tried FWE i hated the whole healing system with the triage so that's off the list

Hey guys, How can I get mod Organizer to switch from the SKyrim Mod Organizer to the New Vegas Mod Organizer?
Hey guys, How can I get mod Organizer to switch from the SKyrim Mod Organizer to the New Vegas Mod Organizer?
I seem to remember reading that you basically have to have a different Mod Organizer installation for each game.
i just use the nexus mod manager works fine for everything i also use BOSS for my load list, never led me wrong before
I use Nexus Mod Manager and FNVedit to find errors in my load order. It works fine for me.
i just use the nexus mod manager works fine for everything i also use BOSS for my load list, never led me wrong before
Use MO. Whenever you use it, you save 10 puppies, and you get the ability to have a clean New Vegas folder so you don't have to completely uninstall your game whenever you can't find mods that cause your game to crash. Plus you can experiment on changing your mods and have a backup set up in-case if you installed waaay to many mods at once and your game crashes. Even more so, you can set up different mod profiles with different save games in each one. Want a profile that is completely vanilla with save games only tied to that profile? You can do that! Want to have that profile and another balls out modded profile that is completely lore-unfriendly? You can do that too, and it'll have its own saves! Want a literal "balls out" profile for all of your nefarious mods, and have save games tied only to that profile(looking at you, _Maverick_ )? You can have that too! Another application of Mod Organizer is that you can have a profile specifically for TTW, so that you can still play vanilla New Vegas, while being able to play TTW.
i just use the nexus mod manager works fine for everything i also use BOSS for my load list, never led me wrong before

I use Nexus Mod Manager and FNVedit to find errors in my load order. It works fine for me.
Wait what? BOSS is outdated and using FNVedit is only good for finding conflicts if LOOT doesn't have the mods conflicting registered in their masterlist Make your lives easier and use Mod Organizer or at the very least use LOOT, the successor to BOSS, made by the guys who made BOSS
i might restart my new vegas folder anew soon, do you have a link to that?
i might restart my new vegas folder anew soon, do you have a link to that?
Just updated the post to include it. If you want to use it for multiple games however, you need to install MO to each of the game folders (not the /<game>/data folder, the /<game>/ folder!)

Mostly generated the palm trees using the region editor. I really not inclined to change the weather/climate/imagespace right now. I'm focusing on designing the map right now. I'm working on building the manufacturing workshop/plant. I really don't know if I will be able to fit an airfield onto the map, because it takes place on an island in the Pacific Ocean, near the Midway Atolls. I still need to rethink the faction and the story behind it. Right now, the idea of the faction is that they are progressively more developed than the NCR, Enclave, Brotherhood, and technology developed years ahead of them. They have over the years scavenged weapons and technology from California and Nevada, and researching new techniques on building weapons, infrastructure, etc. They have one goal in mind: the revival of the Old World, led in a new direction. They believe that the ideologies of NCR, Brotherhood, Enclave, and the Legion are misguided. You can stop them, or not... What do you think?
It looks great, but i gotta ask where you got all that foilage? I need some pre-war foliage for some simulation mod I'm going to try and fail to make.
I got in-home Steam streaming to work so I can play New Vegas on my school Macbook Air. It's pretty cool.
so, I don't need to uninstall any of my mods to use Mod Organizer, do I? It's more of an issue with my Skyrim since I have hundreds of mods in that folder, many of which I don't wish to get rid of.
so, I don't need to uninstall any of my mods to use Mod Organizer, do I? Only use the 'copy' function. Then, one by one, you need to deactivate the NMM mods you have. Then re-activate them in MO Trust me, it only takes 10-20 minutes of work to keep Skyrim running nicer than NMM, and it pretty much is a one time thing if you stay with MO.
New mod by EVE creator that changes the bullet impact effects: http://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/57113/?
