I'm playing Fallout 3 again for the first time in SO FUCKING LONG, and I have like, literally no healing supplies yet. Are there any good early-on quests I can do to get them, or should I just suck it up and sleep whenever I get low on health?
Rivet City has a bunch, plus you can pass a speech check with the the female doctor or scientist or whatever to get like 6 stimpaks.

Do I have to figure out mod merges to make a (hopefully) almost crash-free game?
I currently have these mods after deleting almost all of my old ones and starting a new character:
Also if I messed load order up somehow, please tell me. I tried using BOSS but I can't really figure it out.
So after visiting Nexus a couple of days ago, I decided to install New Vegas again: lots of interesting mods came out, others were updated, fixes etc.
But one thing I can't decide, can someone definitively tell me, is Mission Mojave worth the trouble of its installation and integration with various overhauls and big mods?
Mission Mojave is garbage. Try Yukichigai Unnofficial Patch. It has 100% compatibility and doesn't mess up mods.

That's what I thought. Nothing like adding a bugfix compilation to make the game even more unstable.
I'll try Yukichigai patch then.
So I'm using FWE for the first time, and JESUS CHRIST EVERYTHING IS MURDERING ME
I had to chug 7 different chems to the point where I was tripping balls through the entire Museum of Technology and I still died ten times because I didn't know throwing a grenade in the astronomy room would blow the ENTIRE FUCKING ROOM UP IN A GIANT NUCLEAR EXPLOSION
I usually dislike hard games and I've always thought the Souls games were the only exception for me
But I fucking loved FWE, every single encounter was super intense since you WILL die in three or four hits at most. Died dozens of times during my 25-hour playthrough.

Try using the bullet time feature. It really levels the playing field in your favor, but a fuckup will still kill you.
also did I mention that it pretty much breaks the first Super Mutant Behemoth encounter because the nuke launcher will pretty much level anything in a 100 foot radius?
because it does
fellout + realistic interior lighting + fwe basically makes the game incredibly hard and incredibly deadly
plus for some reason my quicksave function is broken so I can't even constantly quicksave like I do in NV

I'd recommend getting CASM then, Fallout 3's quick save is really broken on the PC, I had it where every-time I quicksaved it'd crash one time.
oh I have CASM, and I have it set up to autosave pretty frequently. For some reason quicksaving just doesn't do anything.
oh I have CASM, and I have it set up to autosave pretty frequently. For some reason quicksaving just doesn't do anything.
IIRC CASM disables quicksaving, at least in FO3.
...oh
[editline]17th October 2014[/editline]
thing is I saw the casm options for quicksave so i thought it was still enabled but having just read that, it turns out (I really should read these things) that casm does have its own quicksave feature which uses the f4 and f8 keys
So, I'm making it my weekend project to get Fallout 3 (GOTY) installed and modded to hell. I'm wanting to steer clear of FWE, and in it's place I want to use FOSE. The reason for this is because I want to be able to sit on my couch and just use a controller, and the number of options/keybindings in FWE are waaaaay daunting and require a keyboard, whereas FOSE just injects a bunch of content. However, I really wanna use Weapon Mod Kits and RH's Ironsights mod. Once before I've gotten them to work, but it was when I was fresh into modding, and I don't remember what versions I used to get them to work in tandem. I wanna say I rolled back to an earlier version of RH ironsights, but I dunno which one. Anyway, I'll also be using Mart's Mutant Mod, EVE, NMC's textures, Enhanced Weather, Project Beauty, Fallout Reanimated, DC Interiors, Ambient Wasteland 2 and GNR Enhanced. Has anyone had success using these mods together?
[editline]17th October 2014[/editline]
I'm an idiot. Instead of FWE I wanna use FOOK 2. FOSE is just the script extender, FOOK 2 is the overhaul kit adding a bunch of shit.
FOOK has the problem of being a bit too tacticool imo. Might as well get FWE and disable some extra stuff
I would not recommend FWE
the only good thing it's done is added some weapons to the game, but the damage rebalancing is absolutely fucking retarded. SERIOUSLY WHO DECIDED THIS SHIT
I literally cannot fight even one enclave trooper because they kill me in ONE SHOT. AS IN I CAN'T GET HIT ONCE OR THAT'S IT I'M DEAD. Even if I lower the weapon damage to "vanilla" they still kill me in 2-3 hits, with the best armor I've been able to find so far. It's just fucking retarded
so get yourself an op gun like i did and just blast everything you see

Go get a companion or two, make them take all the heat and flank the enemies for easy sneak headshots
Also lower the damage you take when in VATS to 10%, raises your chances a tiny bit if you suddenly end up in a firefight
so get yourself an op gun like i did and just blast everything you see
and do this too, fwe is chock fucking full of automatic rifles that destroy almost any enemy in also a hit or two. i don't think it too very long for me to find an ar that one-shotted enclave troopers if i got a headshot.

Are you playing on very hard or something? I can get shot three to five times and still be alive and kicking with damaged talon company combat armour and a helmet.

Are you sure? Cuz I was able to take on an enclave trooper without any problem at level 5. It got harder but it was never that bad
Melee characters in Fallout 3 are so much goddamn fun, it's the first time I've decided to make a Fallout character that relies heavily on melee. I made myself a Shishkebab and haven't looked back... besides a short love affair with a Super Sledge which was also fun, but it meant I wasn't taking advantage of the pyromaniac perk. I forgot Broken Steel increased Deathclaw spawns across the wasteland but I'm dealing with it, Jericho is pretty good bait.

I had the same problem until I found power armor and then I never died again
Seriously that shit is OP
Power armor feels not OP enough IMO for what it is, and how good it was in the older games.
Then again new vegas lacks any real human opponents, you basically become lord of the mortal world at level 15. There's really nothing in new vegas that compares to the super mutant army of the master, or the enclave, so you sort of become master of the world when you have a set of power armor, a good gun and are level 15+
The legion should have been tougher and better equiped, and the NCR really needed a "veteran trooper" class sporting NCR combat armor and high tier assault rifles, that way armor could have been better stat-wise and more important in combat and there would have been a bigger difficulty curve.
[editline]18th October 2014[/editline]
Or wait, do you mean FWE? Either way power armor was even more underpowered in fallout 3 so that's probably a good thing. If nothing else power armor becoming a necessity to take on the enclave or super mutants would be more or less on par with classic fallout

The weapons are certainly cool, but it's really underwhelming to play from my perspective.
The swinging feels really slow and delayed, you spend most fights just slowly jogging toward your next enemy and mashing the left mouse button. There's no swordfights or anything when you fight a melee enemy, you're still just charging at each other and swinging.
Worse than that, VATS doesn't let you make targeted attacks with melee weapons, and it'll sometimes teleport you into walls if you're in a cramped space.

Aquire unique auto-axe "the mauler"
Win game forever.
So I have a follower now and power armor, but now my follower is stuck at like 15% health. And isn't healing. companions in the base game would regain their health over time but I've waited for two days and her health is the same. What gives? how do I heal their limbs and health?
