I've said before that I'm really computer literate. I really want to try and give NV a go on pc so I can try some small mods since I'm craving some new fix on NV. Unfortunately, all I have is this laptop that's relatively new (got it in September) and I was curious to see if it would work. I understand I can't have any amazing graphics but all I want to know is if I can have maybe a couple of mods at the least. Can I get your guys' opinion?
I am having a shit ton of trouble with Arizona Killer. If I kill Kimball, it never registers. It constantly acts as if he's still there, even if I just let his speech end and have him leave.

There's a quest-essential NPC at the dam who's just called "NCR engineer" who is apparently "disguised" throughout the entire game, and if he dies it sets of a cascading avalanche of shitty spaghetti scripting and the quest insta-fails the second you get it. It doesn't even fail the quest when he dies like it does for all the other quests, it just sits silently and waits until you get assigned the quest, then it pops up and goes "lol you fail because NCR engineer # 27 slipped on a tin can 3 weeks ago"
I'm beginning to think that Kimball has somehow hijacked the universe to ward off assassins.
I tried spawning a Kimball in and shooting him, but he ran into a building. I chased him into it and found him huddled in a toilet with two other Kimballs. Where the fuck did the third come from?
Hes the look a like for the look a like meant to foil assasinatons. [editline]3rd November 2014[/editline] They just all got cold feet and ran to the closest bathroom

So I bought it off steam and it runs pretty good. My issue now is that I can't move my mouse anywhere, I can see my regular cursor on the edges of the screen but the games cursor is stuck in the middle. Does it have to do with my laptop being a touchscreen? I read some people have issues with it being Windows 8

Brotherhood of Steel obv.
New Vegas. I fixed the issue now, I just needed a new mouse since it wouldn't respond to my built in mouse pad inputs. Is there any guides to modding that you guys recommend? This is my first time doing this. [editline]4th November 2014[/editline] Is Nexus down for anyone? I checked and it said it was up but I can't access it.

Well that's the thing, I know the whole "Play Vanilla first to know what your improving" but I've played through New Vegas so many times on my xbox I really wanted to fix it. You are right though, I suppose I should give it a shot on PC. Thank you.
Honestly if you've already played it before on Xbox I don't see why you can't just jump in and mod it right away
This is my first game I'm modding so I'm very new to it all,I looked up a guide and read it carefully, my only issue now is that Nexus isn't loading for me.

That I'm trying to do but the Nexus isn't cooperating with me atm. Keeps telling me It's down.

Ah well, thank you all for helping me I really appreciate it! I guess to keep the flow going what are your guys' favorite/memorable mods?
Ah well, thank you all for helping me I really appreciate it! If you're more into energy weapons like me though, you're out of luck with them. Also Nevada Skies and Interior Lighting Overhaul are wonderful in every way.

Only problem was it had a limited selection of pieces, and they added bonuses to your character that seemed overpowered (escpecially since you could get all of them behind doc mitchell's house)

There's also a more dynamic, less boxes-behind-Doc-Mitchell's-house, mod along those lines, which is either called SCAV or Satchels something something (it has .esps calling it both those names so I can't remember exactly), in which you can scrap armors for parts to craft into material to make seperated bits of armor and some other stuff. I mostly use it for the bullet proof vests, dufflebag, and duster. Unfortunately it doesn't have nearly as many available bits of armor as Tailor Maid. don't know how tailor maid's parts are that limited though, there's a hell of a lot of them, some of which are completely custom edit: i wouldn't give this its own post but hey i have something useful in this post to excellently contrast with it 18:30-18:40 is how I feel about fighting raiders

Hey I don't mean to sound like need my hand held for this, but I'm having trouble. I'm trying to install a script extender but I have to install it manually right? I downloaded a zip file for it with the help of a guide but I can't find the file to put into NV's file.

I don't know if there's a fomod version, but if that's the kind of file you have, you should use Fallout Mod Manager, go into Package manager, use Add Fomod to add it, then activate it. (I think Mod Organizer supports fomods so that could be used instead. Nexus Mod Manager does too, I think, but it's pretty inferior to MO and FOMM.)
I found the .dll file but not the exe.
I found the .dll file but not the exe.
Where'd you download it from? This is the official website, the file here has the .exe. http://nvse.silverlock.org/

So I'm going off that
I read that it's not recommended to use FMM because it's a bit outdated? They recommended NMM. So I'm going off that
FOMM has a lot of useful tidbits built in. Don't try to use its auto-sort though, BOSS is no longer supported so it can't update itself and will not run. Mod Organizer is the best one though by far, what with its profiles and being able to effortlessly restore your game if you goof up and whatnot. Only thing is I can't seem to make it install HUD-related mods like MCM and Project Nevada together properly, though that could maybe possibly be fixed by combining all the desired mods into a single mod folder. Also I have a mildly irrational dislike of Nexus Mod Manager because it was only cruel to me so I'm a little biased.
