Can anyone help me? Game was running just fine, but now it just shuts down and I get the message "Out of Memory!". Is there anything I can do to fix this?

At first I was using a patcher to directly patch FalloutNV.exe to 4gb, but apparantly this does jack shit so I switched to launching via nv4gb and now I never crash at all. I'm talking about this: http://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/35262/? If you're already using this though, I don't know

Me and a friend were part of the team early on after it became a thing (I was a mapper, he was the lead designer.) but then there was tension between him and the project lead because he was questioning some of their creative choices; the plot's basically just The Magnificent Seven with an ersatz NCR-Legion conflict and the team was just obsessed with making every character a woman if possible for the sake of being 'progressive'. One day he decided to vent some frustrations about the issues with the project to the editor in confidence, who proceeded to snitch the entire conversation to the project lead. Despite it being actual critique, my friend for the boot for asking questions. Of course, since he was the lead designer, this kinda fucked over the rate of progress they were making with fleshing out the project (Meanwhile the editor got promoted to manager as a reward for telling.) You know what's funny? The single map I made is probably the only ingame thing related to this project that's been made since 2013 when it started. It's all just concept art and scenarios - nice looking concepts, yeah - but there hasn't been a single game asset made yet. The project lead got a tad pissy when my friend called him out on that and said he was gonna go to the GECK right away to make something... which he never did. I don't even know if it's supposed to be a NV mod or a standalone game and I don't even know what engine it'd be on. That's not even mentioning their honestly disrespectful attitude with people with actual technical skills. They just expect people who can map, code, script etc to just work and do everything they say with zero input - I couldn't even get into an involved discussion about they wanted when I joined to map for them, they just dumped a google doc of concepts of me to go copy off. One of the guys in the team who was getting treated like this tried contacting my friend after he got kicked to get his side of the story. The team heard about this and kicked that guy too. They're basically riding off the fact they've got Avellone's 'blessing' and they're trying so, so hard to look like legitimate game developers. I'm not sure what to think at this point but I'm really not gonna be impressed with anything they do until we see an actual game come out of it, even if it's just a bunch of shitty model renders or a super WIP map.
Happy birthday to me. Is nif skope hard to use? I wanna make a weapon like the Patriot from MGS3 and have it shoot lasers.
Nifskope really isn't that hard, but if you want to make good looking guns I'd suggest investing into a real 3D modelling tool. [editline]15th November 2014[/editline] Also Happy Birthday [editline]15th November 2014[/editline]
LOTTA JUICY INFO YA WANKERS.
I honestly expected as much but hoped for better, that is a right up shame.

I saw your model a little far back. I just wanna make an M4 compact with the laser RCW mag and an ammo recycler.
I use 3dsMAX which you can get a free license to, other things like Blender work as well. Doing as you asked would be fairly simple, just taking the assault carbine, removing the magazine, taking the RCW one and slapping it in, then making sure it fits nicely in the gun.
I didnt say I thought FO3 was the first. It has a three in the title for gods sake.
It wasnt a reply to you, but the talk about Fallout 3 reminded me about idiots who think its the first lol

When I try to launch it I get an error message "Error while injecting helper into remote thread; The spcecfided module could not be found" followed by "Steam Error; Application load error 3:000006432" [editline]15th November 2014[/editline] I reinstalled the 4gb and finally got it to run, no errors so far. Thank you!
It wasnt a reply to you, but the talk about Fallout 3 reminded me about idiots who think its the first lol
well from a technicality, it's the first bethesda fallout game.
well from a technicality, it's the first bethesda fallout game.
And its the only one they developed

All this time hunting for scripting info on how to make weapons in FONV use less than one round per shot has gotten me nowhere. Anyone here know anything? I had this awesome idea for making energy weapons run off of charge vs using up an entire cell in one shot, and i want to make it a reality some day.

You'll probably have to find some workaround for it.
afaik it isn't possible to do that. You'll probably have to find some workaround for it.
I was asking for ideas on workarounds mainly. I have one idea but i'm not sure if it would work. I think a script similar to the one that the recycler weapon mod uses would work. Instead of giving a free shot every so many shots, it would give for example, 29 free shots for the laser pistol then use up one round of ammo. The other part of the script(or another script entirely) needs to read how many shots have been fired and show them on a gauge or bar labeled as charge left or something like that. An additional part of this script would then be required to recognize the different ammo types and give more or less charge depending on the ammo type. That's basically what i need to make this work, if it's even possible. EDIT: Apparently weapon mod effects are hardcoded and cannot be accessed outside of the source, so i guess that idea went in the toilet.
I've got an idea (off the top of my head so its probably terribly janky, incompatible with some mods, and might not even work). Have all energy cells in the game just replaced with one "Energy Cell" (a misc item that does nothing except looks like a cell). Picking up this cell will give you a set amount of charges (an actual ammo), and dropping it will remove all the charges from your inventory. When all the charges are used up the cell is either recycled or removed from the inventory. You'll probably also have to work out some script to remember how many charges are tied to a cell so players don't exploit it by dropping a cell and then picking it up to get max charges again. [editline]15th November 2014[/editline] Actually, maybe you could replicate the recycler method you had with scripts using GetAnimAction from NVSE. I've never used the function before but it looks like it detects when the player is attacking/firing. So you could just have it detect how many shots are fired, and have it give back specified charges.
I was playing Fallout 2 when something weird happened. Granted, vanilla Fallout 2 is a pretty buggy game but still. Vic had just taken an assload of damage and had run away from the battle. I beat the raiders, but after the battle Vic kept saying 'I want no part of this!' All over and all over again. I went to Vault City, he said he wanted no part of this. I got into a fight with radoscorpions, he ran away from the battle. I waited a mighty fuckload of days waiting for Marcus to heal, and Vic kept saying 'I WANT NO PART OF THIS.' The strangest thing was, Vic kept following us around and shit. Of course, him repeating the same line all over and all over again meant that I couldn't access his inventory. I imagined my character worriedly talking it over with the rest of the guys--Marcus, Cassidy, Lenny and the rest, and after some tearful deliberation, we took Vic to the middle of the desert and capped him twice in the head. Clearly, bullets to the head had messed his brain to the point of no return. RIP Vic of Vault City, you will forever be remembered for your slow ass and your achievement of fixing that one generator in the Toxic Caves. P.S, Sulik is better. But yeah Fallout 2 is a great game you should all totally play it
but they published new vegas, it counts as one under their belt.
theres a complete difference between developing a game and publishing it bethesda and their development and writing team didnt have anything to do with New Vegas, but they had everything to do with Fallout 3 so no, they didn't develop New Vegas which is what I said, theyve only developed 3
Whoa it's been about a year since Survivor 2299 and still nothing concrete about Fallout 4
but they published new vegas, it counts as one under their belt.
There is a huge difference between Bethesda Softworks (the publisher) and Bethesda Game Studios (the developer). Bethesda Game Studios had pretty much nothing to do with New Vegas (sans the engine and a few assets).
2016 and 2017 is WAY too far off to announce anything, especially because Skyrim was anounced 2 years after FO3's release in 2008, and released in 2011. Anouncing in 20016 or 2017 would be 5-6 years since they had released their latest game, and 6-7 since they announced their latest game. Which is atypical for their release schedule. We haven't gotten word of anything since skyrim's release, so its been 3 years now. They should announce something early next year, late next year at the most. BTW here's a release schedule of their games, and you can pick out the trend of a 2-3 year dev cycle going on, so they must be working on something big if they take longer than their longest dev time, which according to the list, was FO3 to Skyrim, which took 3 years to develop, and was first teased two years into development. Year Title 2006 The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion 2006 The Elder Scrolls IV: Knights of the Nine 2007 The Elder Scrolls IV: Shivering Isles 2007 The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion (Game of the Year Edition) 2008 Fallout 3 2009 Fallout 3 Operation Anchorage and The Pitt expansion 2009 Fallout 3 Broken Steel and Point Lookout expansion 2009 Fallout 3 (Game of the Year Edition) 2010 The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion (Platinum Edition) 2011 The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion (5th Anniversary Edition) 2011 The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim 2012 The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim – Dawnguard 2012 The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim – Hearthfire 2012 The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim – Dragonborn 2013 The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim (Legendary Edition) Well, that, or they hit a rut in development because bethbryo is shit.
Maybe after Skyrim they saw that Creation wasn't going to cut it in the future and started working on/with a new engine.
but there are little throwbacks and what not to fo3 in fnv, considering fnv takes place like what, a few years later right?
yeah, only a few years, but also 2,000 miles apart
Seriously, I'm going to punch every single person there at Bethesda in the face when Fallout 4 runs on the same shitbryo engine.
If they shape it up to a decent engine, no you won't. [sp]But how likely is that lol[/sp]
If they do make a new engine, I hope they make it as moddable as Gamebryo is. For as buggy as the games are, you can mod them to hell and back and that makes them almost my favorite games
